Morning shinies
I'm using ka1 flat wire, on a reel, and it's cheap to buy. I've started keeping notes now of when I recoil. Otherwise, I recoil when either
a) it gunks up too quickly
b) the coil is making noises and annoys me
c) my resistance is jumping because a leg came loose
d) I have new wire to play with
For this wire and my vaping habits, I need to recoil after 6 weeks - and the notes are brilliant for keeping track
If I was using more expensive claptons, I'd be doing a better job of cleaning my coils so I got longer out of them.
Keep in mind that you know WAY more than I do
If it was my coil, I'd check I have both wick shoulders/tails with the same density. Which is harder to do in an Exocet wick, but as you twist yours like I do - if the twists aren't even, pull it out and take off a few strands off one side.
That would be my guess. I'd also try wicking with less cotton than you would normally use, just in case it's something as simple as overstuffing the muffin (technical term)
Ok straw poll time:
For those of you who build your own setups (wind from spools or buy pre-wound coils but not drop -ins) roughly how long does each coil last you?
Do they last days/weeks/months ?
I stretch my dual core claptons out to at maybe a month or so.
When I wind a new coil and get that fresh blast I sometimes think I should change them more often.
any thoughts??
