Up until now I have always feed him Iams kibble and Fancy Feast wet food. Joe has always been a an eater and loves rotisserie chicken so he used to get a lot of that. Now I have him on Diabetes management food. He does not mind it. He is always very hungry now.Ah i'm sorry Sue. My son is a type 1 diabetic and i've seen how it influences his life. What do you feed your cat?
Sending lots of love Sue. Joe is a legend. If anyone can help him get on his feet and back to good health it will be you.
thanks T. I am committed to his well being whatever it takesSorry about this Charlie. Hoping you are on the mend soonSeven done and 1 allday vape
Feeling much better and hope you are too.....or better than better that you were anyway. Antibiotics have kicked in so feeling better but pretty fed up with these recurring infections![]()

thanks Zazie. I do not want to pick and poke at him until he is leary of me. That makes me sadder than anything. Before trying to learn to do it on my own, I was just rushing him into the vet weekly to get the numbers checked. The vet feels the stress of that could be making them go up and strongly suggested I get comfortable with it at home. Yeah right. I have to ..... the vein in his ear and it is minuscule and hard to see because his ears are black. I have bought the best monitor, the best lancets and a better flashlight, all on the advice of the peeps on the cat forum.I'm so sorry, Sue. Poor Joe. I hate to think of him crying.
May the insulin start working its wonders soon.
I am alright Charlie. Life as I knew it has changed because I do not want to leave Joe for too long. I am still trapping and altering ferals. My friend and I started a bit of a company. we call ourselves TCAT. Stands for Two Chicks and a Trap. The spay-neuter clinic was so impressed with our efforts that they gave us our own appointment day and allowed us 5 on that day. Used to be we had to beat the crowd there, at the crack of dawn, on Tues or Weds only, to hope to get 2 each in(the limit per person). It was slow going and a lot of times we did not get our feral in. Then you are stuck with a cat in a trap and nowhere for it to go. Choices: 1) Let it loose where you got it and probably never see it again 2) transfer it from a trap to a cage and hope it does not shred your hands while doing this. I have had several loose in my garage from trying to transfer them and failing. Then you have to retrap in your garage and sometimes it takes days. LOL. If you are successful in getting it from trap to cage, you have to re-transfer to a trap and try again at the clinic the next day.Sorry to hear about your cat...I hope you can get it sorted out!! More importantly, how are you?? Last thing you need is sick cat stress.....pop in more often...we miss you![]()
enabling at its finest!
Oh no--I thought insulin was injected subcutaneously! You have to find a vein? I honestly don't know if I could do it. Not out of fear or squeamishness--although both would be in play--but because of the delicacy of the procedure. How on earth do you keep him still? My girls struggle when I'm just applying their flea medicine. I can't imagine being able to control them if a needle were involved.thanks Zazie. I do not want to pick and poke at him until he is leary of me. That makes me sadder than anything. It's a frustrating catch-22 (well, I guess all catch-22s--catches-22?--are frustrating): you have an infection your immune system can't handle, so you take antibiotics, thereby weakening your immune system. It's constant lung infections and yes I hate taking antibiotics for that reason. Increasingly science is finding more and more info about specifics concerning your gut biome and they make up around 70% of your immune system. I take probiotics twice a day and have learned also that different types of antibiotics kill less or more of your good bacteria....so at least there's that....
Your garage must be very fragrant.I have had several loose in my garage from trying to transfer them and failing. Then you have to retrap in your garage and sometimes it takes days. LOL.
