To be honest I was shocked. The last thing I expected to see was any dead animal floating in there. Have no idea what happened. I thought maybe the floating heater had a short in the cord but that wasn't it. Sorry for your loss
I remember seeing one floating in Lake Merrit back when I lived in Oakland, Ca. It had no fur anymore... A crowd eventually gathered around as we were trying to get it closer to shore and get a stick; it seriously looked like a baby...

But first I have to vape it in this. It's the right thing to do.
My hands smell like old pennies now. I forgot about that.
since you seem to know about tube mods mind if I ask you a question? a guy at my local vape shop has a single 18650 Able that he's trying to sell. It's a green camo with the box and the carbon fiber sleeves. Are Ables any good?

this one was still furry. it hadn't been in there very long. I really wish I could figure out what happened. I've seen other critters around it since and haven't found any more floaters

Could have fell in, maybe out of a tree got knocked unconscious or disoriented and drown. Maybe another animal attacked him, really, anything. Could have also been unable to find an exit and got exhausted, having a ramp exit might help too.

Here is a video of a teardown. Seems quite well thought out and constructed to me. I have 1 tube mod with carbon fiber sleeve and it is my favorite. I get copper conductivity with low maintenance and no penny smell. i like the changeable tubes on the able. I am not too familiar with new tube mechs but all the ones I have seen apart seem much better built than the old ones with much fewer parts. If the price is right go for it.

Hope this helps.

Thank you. I've watched a few vids but hadn't seen that one yet. I didn't know if you had any experience with them.

No I have been out of tube mods for a bit but I can tell a lot from the video.. Those are my favorite bottom button assemblies. There were quite a few that they overcopmlicated but that one is very simple. It is just the button pin magnets and housing. I am on the fence about the top hat. On the one hand it is much simpler to use than pins. It is like a telescopic though and you have to be careful not to overtighten it, Over time it can bend down the positive contact on the battery. If you aren't too familiar to tube mechs this looks like a good one to start with it is quite user friendly. Easy to disassemble and also use. Non hybrid. Magnetic(no spring to wear out) With what I know makes a good tube mech, that one checks all the boxes. Just be gentle with the top cap.
