I will quote my own post LOL ...... This will be two questions for all you people familiar with the various vaping devices..... Besides @Nayngnottz94 , is there anyone else in this thread who own and use billet boxes? I am asking because I know literally NOTHING about them.... It's one area of vaping hardware that I have never tried... What makes them different from other devices other than their form factor?

Question 2: Another area of gear that I have never tried is the pod kits.... I am not talking about disposables here... I am talking about mods that have un-pluggable pod tanks attached to them (such as the Drag X Plus kit)...... I realize the vape flavor and power operating level depends upon the coils in the pod but I am just wondering if any folks here use them and what they think of them.
It’s the build quality for me, and how discreet they are, they’re very customisable and the flavour i get from the bridges are incredible (of course depending on how you build and wick), most of all they’re made in the good ole usa!

Thanks @Nayngnottz94 ....... Maybe I will try one some day.... They sound good for MTL vaping.........

Now the only other thing I have to find out about is the pod mod kits.... I have researched many of them it's just that I have never personally tried one. So, if anyone uses them, let me know how you like them.

I have the Xlim V2, I got a couple i can send out to you to have if you’re interested, free of charge, very flavourful, although the pods are expensive

I don't use pod devices that much, I prefer rebuildables because they're more economical. I do have the original Caliburn, Caliburn G, and Caliburn Tenet Koko, so fairly limited experience. I keep them on hand for travel situations where I don't want to carry a whole kit with batteries. The flavor on these devices is quite good, and they are small and convenient. I can chuck a device, couple pods/coils, and some small juice bottles in my carry on and go. Maybe someone else can chime in with a bit more experience.

They’re just convenient, the pods last a good 2 - 3 weeks, flavour is great, battery lasts all day, i use the Xlim for work mostly

I was looking at the Drag X Plus pod mod and it is interesting in the fact that the pod fits into a 510 connecter so that if a person wants to not use a pod and instead use another type of tank then they can..... I am mainly wondering how the pods themselves deliver...... I see lots of them use PNP coils or TTP coils which everyone says has good flavor. But since I have never used a pod before I am mainly wondering if they are durable, or if they tend to leak etc..... I have sub ohm tanks but rarely use them because I am cheap and don't like buying coil heads and so I build all my own coils but have been thinking about using something with tiny coil heads for a change. Building for me is getting "old", just like I am getting LOL .........

I've still not purchased a billet, boro or aio device. Like them, yes. Came close to buying one or two, oh yes. Backed away each time. Over the holidays my younger brother brought over one of his mech boros. Was nice.

Pods? No way, no thanks. Zero interest.

But I get it, many folks like both, and as long as that keeps 'em from smoking......Win/Win.

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Billet Box I don’t own, not yet.
I have some AIO's, I see them as beautiful and at the same time discreet.
What also appeals a lot to me is how we can tailor the look.
And it doesn't necessarily have to be very expensive, there are both expensive and cheap out there, and a whole bunch of cloned stuff too.

Atty wise, rba, then one should know more, what vape style you have, and which rba's are difficult, and which ones are a little more forgiving in build technique

I've yet to see any boro or aio that's more discreet than my Krönig 18650 mech squonker with a slammed RDA. It's very small. Bottle holds ~8mls.

Smaller and even more discreet? My Ennequadro Flexy v1 mech SBS mod with a Dvarw 3.5ml RTA. The mech Flexy is 3.5mm shorter vs. the regulated. Can't get any more discreet than that.

I myself like SBS the most, that is unlikely to change, but I buy few normal mods these days.
Like most things, it is not something that is completely perfect, before there was a market for dotaio because of the size, it still is because of the price, even if a dot is not directly cheap.
But Critival, Apex, etc killed the size arguments when they placed a dicodes EC 23 inside their Boro AIO.
Large quantities of dotmod are sold though, my DotShell has s/n 17266, it's not bad for a standard many reviewers slaughtered ;)

Quick pop in to say hi.

I'm drained and in serious need of a day off but well you know gotta do what i gotta do so no chance of that.

@AXIOM_1 Billet boxes and AIO's do intrigue me,do like the principle behind it,i mean all enclosed in a box and only the drip tip is protruding a bit.

I did look into buying one but...the refill system is a no go for me,i like things simple.
Remove cover, lift the rubber tab, tilt mod...fill,cover with the rubber tab, then the cover on again?
Nah way too much work, for me these days its all about sub-ohm tanks, coil's lifespan is over? no worries, pop another one in and ready to go.
Need to refill? twist the top, refill then twist the top on again and I'm ready to go.

I have no need for stealth vaping nor i mind if my mod is big, actually prefer big mods so i can use a 21700 battery and when i go out i always use my man bag so meh.

    Somewhere between here and there
I don't have a billet box but have a handful of boro devices. I really just started getting into it the last year or so. Sometimes I wish I hadn't then I'd have a lot more money in the bank but for me it keeps vaping interesting. I do get stuff for review but almost never boro devices since a lot of them are high end and mostly only big time youtube reviewers get those if at all.

Exactly the same with me too, it started last year with an atty in case I found a boro mod I liked.
I really like the concept, just like I do with sbs, compact and aesthetically classy.
Most of what I buy are still rta's.

Got my first Billet Box in 2019 and never looked back- tinkerer's heaven. Perfect for my style of rdl vaping.

Billet Boxes were the first All-In-One device as far as I know, circa 2012.

The term "boro" that we all use now to describe a format of AIO that fits a certain sized tank, comes from the original enclosure that houses Billet Box bridges (attys).

The material that the sliding door is made of is borosilicate glass. This photo shows the sliding glass door half open.

    20230310_042435.jpg

I still like this type of tank but in recent years there have been plenty of variations, upgrades, improvements made to the design that are less fiddly and easier to fill.

I don't use my billets much these days because there are many smaller single 18650 boro-format aios on the market that have improved airflow.

One major problem with the Billet Box design is the placement of the board in relation to the tank. Sits directly below it. Many a billet user (me included) has had a leaky bridge that dumped juice all over the board and fried the electronics.

Yeah thanks for the great info as I appreciate it for sure....... The strange thing about myself is that I constantly study and look at various mods and atomizers and know most of what is out there. My wife says I am walking vape encyclopedia because I can tell her about most any mod or atty on the market and all without ever having used it myself LOL .......

But, when it comes to operating certain mods/atty's I only own and have experience with single and dual battery mods with standard 510 connections. I also have experience with mech mods etc.... I have also tried a few disposables just to see what they are like....... But the two areas I have not tried yet are the pod mod kits and the billet boxes...... I do not know why I never tried a billet box in the past as I have been vaping for 10 or 11 years..... I joined ECF in 2015 but vaped for quite a few years before finding this place.... Who knows, I may tamper with a billet one of these days just to see what the experience is like. Heck, I may be missing a good vape.

    Morning shinies ;)

For me personally I like a pod mod kit as the pod tank is a lot more durable and tougher, than a mod with a subohm tank. Plus the 18650 pod mods are usually a lot shorter in profile and lighter.

A subohm tank probably gives you slightly better flavour from the same coils and has more capacity -so it's really a matter of what appeals to you.

In the 21700 pod mod category there was an explosion of them last year. The Oxva Velocity le is a brilliant kit for flavour, comes with a 510 and you can get the unipro RBA. I've also got Lost Vape's Ursa 21700 kit and that's just as good, except it's heavier. It comes with a 510 and the UB Pro RBA has RTA-like flavour. I wish Lost vape would bring that deck out as an rta.

As for the others, @hittman and our other shiny reviewers are your best bet.
