I got a noisy cricket and also an antique mech mod for the husband (I think I will probably vape it before he does.)

I'm not panicking... exactly... but I did judge it wise to get enough nicotine in my freezer by Easter, and I'm actually glad I got some "freebase" nic. For one, my respiratory system has recovered, I may not mind "something of a throat hit" so it will be interesting to see. I really only need two more liters to feel "self sufficient" and if I can't afford to buy nic salts on sale from my preferred vendor, I will accept buying other forms of nic.

I'm one of those "Just want to get it done" folks, so I don't have to waste any more energy on it. I already have a gallon and a liter of nic salts frozen and a just opened liter that I've used very little of and I will probably break it down into glass bottles, most of it, because it's probably better off frozen.

So... no blind panic, just some assessment and decision making. To me, it's about judging the way of the world and moving my needs to suit what will be coming down the pike. Etc. So, I'm quite glad to have gotten that out of the way, and by Easter, I will have all the nic I need, one way or another.

I haven't heard awful things about Heartland Vapes, and it was a considerable savings (for me) over Nic River nic salts, so eh.

Anna

Anna do the vape DIY stores usually have Easter Sales? I have 4 liters of nic but plan on buying a couple more. Heartlands price was great for the 100mg. Just wondering if I should wait a few weeks for any sales.

I’ll just order one from you if the End Times come
I'll put plans on the internet then, heard customs can't stop data :D
if I could do mech mods, you guys could too!
I can do and did mechs exclusively for a little less than 2 years. It's too much hassle for a (to me) lesser vape, I prefer repeatable drags now and don't have to keep track of batteries as strictly as with mechs or clean contacts all the time.

People think mechs last forever but that's not really true. The insulator will get brittle, so sooner or later you'll have to manufacture a precision part to reactivate your mech. Your contacts will also rough up over time (when in use obviously) and will have to be ground down from time to time until there's not enough left and you need to make a new switch. They may last longer than electronics but they're not maintenance free.

Welllll, that was all Greek to me o_O
Mech-Mod-Safety.jpg

Parallel splits the draw off the batteries and combines the mah rating. Series doubles the voltage which is gine in a regulated device where the chip steps down the voltage to a safe level. In a series mech it is up to your coil build. The noisy cricket is a hybrid mod also which means if your center pin on the atty doesnt protrude enough it can dead short which is the last thing you want to happen with 2 batteries in series. In short parallel box is the safest, series hybrid is the most dangerous. Also it is made for cloud chasing, not your style of vaping.Noisy Cricket 2.5 has all the options. I will post a review when I get home.

I understand the physics... it’s the picking of the mod that you lost me on. I rarely vape at below 1ohm, or over 12 watts. I was picturing a simple tube I could stick in the closet JUST in cse

I would vape a mech, if it came down to a choice between that and a closed disposable pod filled with "mentholated tobacco flavor." I'm not always detail oriented, but I CAN be when necessary....

@Fidola13 , I have no idea how Easter sales go, this is going to be my first DIY Vaping Easter. I imagine they will, it's a fairly major holiday. However, you should do what makes you feel comfortable. I'd probably wait at least until the nic arrives and you can check it out and etc., before worrying too much. I plan to wait, but I have plenty of nic stashed already. I don't think it's panic/freakout time yet and Easter isn't far off.

I suppose I could see DIY wholesalers wanting to raise their prices at the news or something, although I'd also imagine that time is not yet today but you should do what makes you feel comfortable. I'd hate to "think" something would be a certain way, and have it turn out different, and you "take" my advice and have it not be good....

So, I would say do what is best for you, as best as you can determine and evaluate things, etc.

Noisy Cricket at 1 ohm.

Even higher with full battery at 4.2 volts.

It would be easier to order a half dozen isticks from FT and just stick the boxes in the closet.
That is a good idea. Ihave had regulated devices last for years with a lot of use. Mechanical mods have a steep learning curve. Things can go wrong and when they do it is not good. If you want to get one I personally would suggest a single battery tube (lots on clearance for about $20) or a parallel box (which are usually pretty pricey). Those operate at 4.2 down to 3.2 volts. If you get one with a normal 510 with a pin, you can use it with any topper safely and within the power range you like. Just looking out for ya.

Thanks Anna for your awesome advice as always! I decided to purchase 2 liters of nic from Heartland anyways. The price is great and I’m noticing some nic is really expensive. Nude Nicotine is charging $105 for a liter. Maybe it’s a “premium” nicotine but I’m positive I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference lol so $44 a liter is more my speed lol! After that I should be good for a pretty long time even with some degradation.
