At least you can. Here it's a freaking national holiday and everything is dead. Particularly in the state I live in, no fun is allowed because it's a "silent holiday". No dancing, markets, horse races or anything that's intended for entertainment. No private parties either! "Here have some free time but don't you dare enjoy it" - Germany.
