My private disability co (which is so bad, HR canned them literally two days after I signed on, which didn't help me) were notorious about delay/distract/misinform. They always said, "This phone call is being recorded," too, first, and it has been my observation that such entities often "erase" relevant calls. So I would immediately reply, "Yes, this phone call is being recorded from both directions...." Which no one ever picked up on except this one supervisor I talked to, who was quite Indignant, he said he would hang up on me if I did not end the recording, in fact. I said, "That isn't going to sound good on your tape or mine," and he caved, but he wasn't happy.

I have found police behaviors improve around me when I have them recorded (after a very annoying speeding ticket where I was basically subjected to about 7 "field sobriety" tests and quite a few searches of my vehicle, well, after THAT one, the first thing I do after pulling over is to pull out my phone, start it recording, and if the police officer is ever intelligent enough to notice, I merely point out that as he/she has recordings all over his person or vehicle, it should not be a problem AND it is also completely legal.

Sometimes I record myself with my dealings with stubborn entities merely so I KNOW I MYSELF will be on my best behavior, but it's a useful practice.

Only useful if your state is a "one party consent" state, which mine IS. If it is two-party, you need to specifically notify the entity you are recording.

It really cuts through the BS, and if I had far more energy and advocacy in me, I have often thought that a private, voluntary citizen uprising where we ALL share our camera feeds when necessary (and our phones) would be quite useful, given the fact that we are being recorded by our government/powerful corporations everywhere we go. I would LOVE to see such a thing put in practice, although the buy-in would have to be immense. I have often thought how conveniently things "vanish" that really shouldn't VANISH, like in the internet age, does anyone really think important info on our government just somehow went missing????? I don't, and I'd love to have a citizens watch recording program, we may not have a network in place like the government does, but at this point, I see this as the way to go/to combat this incessant "recording" for the benefit of the party that can "erase" the relevant recordings.

LOL, climbing off my soapbox now....

couldn't agree with you more about the behavior of some folks improving immensely once they realize that they are being recorded. sometime ago my son was involved in an unfortunate situation while driving my wife's car and the sd card from her dashcam saved us a lot of money and also cost a public servant his job.

I've been thinking lately that our elected officials should not be allowed to have private meetings with other lawmakers and lobbyists to discuss policy - their offices should be under video surveillance.

I have found most of my blanket "No more buying of ANYTHING," to be immediately followed by a purchase. I no longer say that, I just hang out for the vicarious enjoyment, I think.

JFC, you can't leave the thread, though, capice? You created it, you are responsible for/to it. Heh. Again, I expect nothing less than an immediate doing of the opposite, but that's fine. As long as you do it here.:lol:. You know Letita's uncontrollable, although come to think, you haven't bought anything recently have you @Letitia ?
