Should just need a hub.
Phillips sells one for the Hue. I bought some highly recommended smart bulbs from Amazon for $10.
Got my Smart things hub and a switch for $35 here at work. Really is convenient but unnecessary.

I have the Hue hub already and the Harmony hub which ties my lights to the TV/ PlayStation/ sound-bar/ etc. I am thinking of using smart things to tie in sensors and random things like blinds.

I haven't bought much lately apart from Flavorings. I was running out of PG and VG so I ordered a gallon of each from Amazon on Monday.

It was due to arrive today. I opened tracking it showed a map of my neighborhood. My house had a green circle and the truck had a red circle, about half a mile away. I watched it approaching my house for a while, stopping here and there. You didn't even have to refresh, it did that automatically. The red circle stopped at my house and I went through to the front to pick it up, just in time to see the truck driving away. No box. Went back to the computer and it said there had been a courier problem but it might still arrive today.

About an hour later I clicked on tracking again and it showed another red circle approaching my house. This time it was a car with a guy wearing an official looking uniform. He had my box. No idea what happened.

Of course can do everything separately as well.

I haven't tried, it spins but not freely like the Moonshot. And doesn't fall out like it either. Grimm has a good run thru on it.
