There really should be a legal limit on time spent with in-laws. Lately I've had to spent too much time with my MIL and SIL, evil flaming narcissists. It affects how I see my wife, even though she is the pick of the litter.
I love my MIL... even after 37 years (31 married). My girls all have great inlaws too. Guess I’m lucky. Over the years there have been WAY more times I’ve wished I could vaporize my husband than his parents.

I...just...want...to...go...home.

After this I gotta run and get my boys.
I'm the kind that needs peace and quiet.
I’m hiding out in this awesome hotel room while the hubs “conferences”... he doesn’t get it (weird people person that he is). A whole day with peace and quiet, coffee and three vapes to rotate... heavenly.

No, that's not going to happen. And, I even wandered into the study, and I never venture there, (it's my husband's "A Beautiful Mind" space and I don't care to disturb it, especially during tax season) and there were a bunch of cigarettes in there! But, I decided long ago that I wasn't going to let the husband make me "stress smoke" anymore... LOL.

Especially since the darn argument was about my health! He thinks I'm too skinny, and we've had this issue before, including making my poor PCP "evaluate" my BMI, poor guy  and asking my sister who is similarly exercise oriented if "muscle was bad." Her response, "No, that's what you AIM for dude!" but also my mom and etc. Everyone was like, "No, you're totally fine."

I just don't really need to hear, "I say these things out of concern for you because I wake up from nightmares where you are dead, and I have to explain to your kid how GREAT you were."

Well, husband, that's not exactly helpful to hear.... are you like, waiting for me to die or something? That's sort of what it felt like....

I took the high road and didn't mention his continued smoking plus he's 10 years older. Man, I did SO much for my health this year my doctors are all twirling in circles (AND I'm coming up on a year smoke free this year, OMG, who'd ever have thought it?)

I almost suggested he buy me a boob job so he could stop worrying about my weight.... But then I'd actually have to GET a boob job. Heh.

To whomever indicated that, LOL, I think I mentioned "Implants" (teeth) on this thread before, well yes, this time I AM actually talking about it. But, I still don't want one. It's also NOT my fault that my metabolism is high, my family is just like that. Don't marry someone who long term dated an anorexic is my advice. Sigh.

I know the feeling...

But, there's that...^

What should I buy today? Still on the fence about the Ice Spider. Should be a couple of tanks waiting on me when I get home ( usps willing). Back up Picos are on the slow boat ( cool, they’re just going to get tested and stored). I SHOULD order more nic, but, meh...I’m in a I want something, just don’t know what mood. And no squonks till after Labor Day. CC and Letitia can’t win that bet

Over the years there have been WAY more times I’ve wished I could vaporize my husband than his parents.

I ALMOST BOUGHT A SQUONK TOO. LOL, this has to do with the fact that I have over 1K of disposable income in my checking account (and by disposable, I mean not bills). Every fiber of my being wants to "dispose" of that income on shiny, not on paying off my medical debt early. Which I plan to do, after I buy two more liters of nic. It was a close call, and I still have tabs open.

LOL, @NolaMel that might be an artifact of "proximity" not so much the MIL. Even I have probably wished to vaporize the husband more times than his family, honest, because they live far, far away.

I think my husband may have wanted to vaporize HIS MIL than me, not to mention alls my siblings and stepdad. Of course, we spent like 7 years living across the street from my mom when we moved here.

Even I (finally) lost my cookies, and since my credit had recovered we very quietly and efficiently bought another house that was a 20 minute drive away..... Then presented her with the housekeys she "rented us" (to be fair, she broke the rental agreement a lot and also over charged us on rent).

THAT was a great day.... Nowadays, my mom has moved to Colorado, and I once again, "love" her much more than I did when everyday upon leaving the house I would see her front entryway.

I imagine he had a much harder lot than I, although I did TRY to tell him the whys and wherefores of why the move would be a bad idea, well, my mom convinced him otherwise. I got put on a plane with my kid, and then my mom decided I wasn't "raising" him right and spent the next 7 years or so trying to get custody of him. Since she was a child beater (although to be fair, a much better grandmother) I was not best pleased. LOL.

I really love Tucson a great deal more when it's just "my" chosen family around. I think my last words to my mom when she informed us she was moving was, "Oh, wow, cool, we just might be able to make AZ work for us after all." LOL. I think she has also been shocked that we have not asked for her "help" since she moved, either. She's one of those people who thinks MI is a "sin" and can't be managed, etc. It's really annoying since she herself is a pill junkie. Etc. I FREAKED out at the realization that she was, when she got up her last visit, and said she was "tired" and took a pill.... I asked her what it was, it was thyroid hormone.... You don't use it like that.

That was when I worried about who would get the fallout with the health stuff, but it's my older brother so I feel little guilt on that one. But, you really don't take thyroid hormone when you feel tired. Plus she is going on "Hajj" this year (she's a Sufi) so that may solve all our problems . I'm not HOPING anything bad happens, but I would not go on "Hajj" at the age of 71, personally.

My MIL lives about 1000 feet from us (her yard backs up to the house at the end of our cul de sac). I’m not much of a people person, but she’s in the small group of people I enjoy spending time with

LOL @NolaMel, I don't lose either. Do you perchance play scrabble? Or poker? (We could use driptips and coils as "chips". LOL.) I always love running into someone who "doesn't lose" at stuff, because they're the only people who will play with me, anymore.:lol: I suppose "Words with friends" might require entering the FB arena, I don't remember.... But I might be willing to do it to beat you mercilessly after a tight fought, 3 game match, etc. LOL.

You can ask my poor husband, I’m stubborn as a mule, and hate losing. I’ll bet you 120ml of butterscotch I can wait that long ;)
Hah. No.

I want you to have nice things. If I take the bet and you're as stubborn as you claim to be, then you will steel up and deny yourself an exquisite pleasure just to win a silly bet.

I can't let you do that.

The kids banned me from the scrabble games at the lake. To be fair, I’m the only one with an (otherwise useless) English degree and was an editor many years ago ( pre kids)

I’m extremely picky. Maybe if I saw a squonk that made me go ooooooooh... Boxy mods just aren’t my style. It has to be hand comfy and not too heavy. And not a color or look like someone killed a zoo animal for its pelt. Eric Buss sounds like he may have one and an rta/rda or rdta coming after the summer. The DB would be a good form for a single battery squonk imo
