My daughter was easy, always worked, paid her bills. We loaned her money and bought her first car, and she paid us back a bit every pay day. She got her own place and has been self reliant since she was 18.
We have a great relationship. She asked me, why other girls her age complain about their moms, moms who micro manage and nit-pick everything.
I looked around her apartment and said, you don’t need me to run your life. You’re doing just fine!
Her bills are paid, she keeps herself nice, place is clean and tidy, and she’s never in trouble. Ever. What more could a mother want?
My son is a whole different story. He’s the older of the two but he acts like a spoiled 12 year old. He moved out and back more times than I can count. Finally my husband took him aside and said...
Fine. But you need to know, that your mother and I have lived to care for you since you were born. We sacrificed, put our needs last, but now it’s our time. We need to, and deserve to, have some “us” time. So we’re getting pig masks and a 12” strap on. Gonna use them in the dining room. I mean, why else would we have gotten a table like that? It’ll hold us, easy, big enough to dance on. So if you hear oinking, you might want to not come downstairs.
And poof, the boy was gone.
Totally agree, but one of you, at least, should get a unicorn mask. For obvious reasons
