Thank you all, for all the love. Rudy is breathing, a little fast, but not panting and gasping. I’ve never had a dog do this before and it was really scary. The ex ray showed his heart was 30% too large, smashing the wind pipe about 80%.
Georgia and I crashed on the couch with Rudy right there on his fluffy blanket. I had to put him on it twice, he knew he was ......, too exhausted to go anywhere to pee.
So I put a doggy diaper on him and he seemed okay with that. Put potty pads around, in case he could get up and use one, but at that point he couldn’t even walk.
Breathing mellowed put about 9 for a while. I drifted off, and Georgia woke me about 12, Rudy was struggling again. His diaper was soaked so o took it off. He scooted over to the pee pad right away, still ...... uncontrollably. Man I felt so bad for him. He looked as blue as a boy could be.
Scooped him up pee pad and all and took him out. He was able to stand and lift his leg, seemed very relieved.
We did that a couple times, Georgia would poke me whenever Rudy started gasping, and he just leaked like a water balloon with a hole in it all night. Poor thing is covered in urine, and he’s exhausted but he’s breathing.
Hopefully he’s out of the woods, and we should be able to manage this.
And Georgia, I have to say, she loves Rudy intensely. In typical Frenchie style, she had her face right in there all the time. I straightened the fluffy blanket, she inspected. I put on the diaper, she checked it over. I placed Rudy on his blanket, she sniffed him all over. I felt like she was grading my performance lol. Every time he moved she pawed me in the ribs “you see that?”
