the servings are bigger and cheaper. :D
That's not a sign of quality though. Like with vapers tongue the flavor of food diminishes while eating.
So a clever cook will put exactly (or close to) the amount on the plate that you can eat and still tastes amazing at the very last bite, letting you wish you had more.
It also has a psychological component, if the last thing you remember is how you wanted more it's very different to if you had to force yourself to eat the last few bites though you were already full or it already stopped to have a complex taste.
That's how high end restaurants work and that's how you can even eat a 5 or 7 course menu. If every course was the equivalent of a 22 oz steak you'd be leaving the restaurant in a wooden box.

Btw what I do to counter vaper's tongue is switch to another juice (one with a very different flavor profile) while the one I use still tastes great.
Think I'll stick to constructed rhubarb cheesecake
What's the problem, there's a diy cheesecake kit right on the plate

I order, they bring me what I asked for, I eat until I don't want anymore, I pay, and leave.
That's how regular restaurants work.

If I wanted a DIY one, why would I be at a restaurant? :D

As much as I agree with @Rangertrix – that is one delicious looking dog turd

It does look good, and I'm sure it tastes good.

That looks equally appealing to me though.
The whole deconstructed movement has just never made much sense to me.
I understand that they have to try new innovative things to keep it exciting, but when you have a family of 5 value is certainly a big issue.
Either one will make a turd, and in the end that's really all we can ask of it. :D

There's maybe a handful of normal restaurants I've eaten at that are worth returning to, in all my life. Needless to say they're all not in the town I live in, usually at least 500-1000km away.
All the others have dishes I can do better, guess that comes with cooking as a hobby
I'm not paying for something that's mediocre to me, I'll gladly pay for something that makes me go wow.
The whole deconstructed movement has just never made much sense to me.
You're right, if it's just done to be different or to follow some fad then it's useless. Similar to molecular cooking most of it is uncalled for and is more of a performance than a meal.

If done right it can bring something new to a dish you thought you knew everything about.

I always thought food should get... deconstructed by your colon. I mean, it's fine here and there, I guess but ultimately UNNECESSARY kinda.

Welcome back from travels @NolaMel !!

Yoga was not like yesterday. I mean, nothing hurt or anything, but it was sort of like, IDK, swimming uphill the entire time.

The husband just told me to exercise care on the internet, something about Google bots and getting restricted from stuff (including basic needs?) so I told him today I insulted Columbus, made fun of my naturalization ceremony and portrayed the "Entity of Death" as a nondescript Hispanic? He said I could ultimately wind up banned from parts of the internet, etc.

IDK. He also listens to a TON of "that and I am trying to evade the bot here" but the "fat guy who has cochlear implants now" type of radio and he said that "due to his search history" he now gets pages and pages of stuff about the redhead dude hatred, and I NEVER get that kind of stuff when I search for anything.

I'm sorta more worried they might come detach ME from him, since I might still have potential but he's a lost cause, and place me someplace to get deprogrammed.

Although ever since my love of cults I have always wanted tot get deprogrammed, like, to experience it, OR deprogram someone else so I MIGHT be able to do battle with my educator then, and we just see WHO deprograms WHO, like exactly. I can be pretty persistent so I think I stand a chance.

So it might not be all bad, etc.. There is always that.

I find news, all of it, just deeply confusing somehow.

Soylent.

Back from out of town. Not even going to try and catch up. Hope all had happy shinies in my absence :)

WB - I missed you, but ya didn't miss much ;)

Bigbob got a new baby, so did Letitia (both purr). HTRedneck got a new baby that REALLY purrs (named Harley), Skunk & Eskie got dead bunnies, Anna developed a fixation with squirrels, Trix was only grounded twice, and the rest of us behaved... kinda
