The Hex 3.0 is not as good as the earlier Hex's IMO. I have three 2.0's and one 3.0. I rarely use 3.0

I only see 3.0s for sale (not that I've started looking in earnest yet). I did see elsewhere that you had complaints about yours. I have a lot more reading to do.

Oh, I am also considering one more purchase: a Geekvape Aegis for vaping while in the tub (I take long, long baths).

Christmas eve dinner is almost done. Not having Christmas dinner this year (not hosting it I mean) we are having make your own burrito with Carnitas or Carne Asada and Mexican beans and rice. Of course Guacamole. Home made Salsa. Home made Cheesecake. Red wine and coffee.
Orion is very cool. New to get used to, as I have been blowing my hair back for a few years with max air flow and 60 watts. I like it. I have been wearing it around my neck like a nerd all day.:thumb:

The Dani Dicodes Mini has been overtaken by the Hexohm 3.0 in the race to deplete my bank account. The DDM is way prettier, of course, but the Hexohm has other virtues. I really like its simplicity, for example (no screen to fail!), and the lifetime warranty is very seductive. Plus, though the thought of contributing to the German economy doesn't distress me, that the Hexohm is made in the US is appealing.

Ah, my fickle heart . . .

Subjective!

I much much much prefer the look of a hex. Might have to do with the fact that I always wanted a hana mod when those were a thing.

Absolutely love my hex. Also really appreciate PWM - feels like it hits harder for me.

Only downside is no squonk, so she doesn't get used as much as I would like. It's the only non squonk mod that I use though, albeit occasionally.

What's there not to love?

Don't get me wrong--I really like its austere simplicity. The Dani Box Mini just has more flair, I think.

Do you have a 3.0? No complaints?

Also, what finish do you have? I'm leaning toward anodized, but maybe there are compelling arguments in favor of the powder coat?

I have lost track of the thread where you talk about this. Would you mind repeating yourself here? What is it about the 3.0 that falls flat for you?

The dicodes dani mini is a single 18650 right? I get it for lower wattage vapors, but it wouldn't cut it for me. I find it funny that people tell me "RIP battery" because I use my Billetbox with a single 18650 at 40-45W yet no one says anything about other single 18650 mods like the Therion or Dani Mini -- mods where I would be running 55-65W for a single coil build anyways.

I have the 3.0. I don't have a 2.0 or 1.0 to compare it to, but I definitely wanted only the 3.0. It has a button inside to turn it off and the internals have a new sled which clean it up quite a bit:

I also believe the V3 has a higher amperage limit (30A/~180W). I use mine for vaping in the 70-90Wish most of the time, so I need that.

I also definitely wanted powdercoat. It was incredibly hard to find. I found a limited edition by accident because I couldn't find a regular powdercoat. The reason I didn't want anodized is because of scratches. The powdercoat finish is similar to what you would get on a car, I think.

Forgot to mention...

I don't know what your local market is like, but here they can be had for 130 CAD used, roughly 95 USD. That's in 8.5-9.5 condition which is what you would expect after a month of usage. From what i've seen, people generally take really good care of their hexohms. And at that price range, I don't get why people are buying mass produced low quality stuff for only a couple bucks less. The lifetime warranty is tied to the serial number, not the owner. Each mod has the serial printed on the side.

It just does not seem to have much power.

I vape low, so the Hexohm is much more mod than I need in terms of power. With two batteries, though, vaping between 8 and 15 watts, I'll be switching out batteries every other day at most. Besides, I'm drawn to the Hexohm's simplicity and comparative dearth of failable components.

If the powdercoat is like the finish on a car, then I'm in. The "powder" made me think it was a fuzzy matte finish. I just want what's most durable.

How easy is it to adjust the potentiometer? Does it work smoothly? Or is it tricky to be precise?

I just got my Mini Box but love it.. I've had a ton of high end mods over the years and this little sucker is sweet... My only real issue with the Hexohm is that logo on it that's the size of a Mac truck... Kills it instantly for me..

Whatever you get, enjoy!

If I could get both, I would. But it's one or t'other, I'm afraid.

For the moment, anyway.

I would be nervous buying a used one, because I'm so new to all this.

It's like old school VW. You put it low and just crank it up until it's warm enough.

I use a little screwdriver and set it to 50% (4.2V) most of the time.

There's this chart I keep taped on the inside of my door that helps, but it's mostly guidelines. I just adjust to taste.

It moves smoothly. I am not sure about being precise though. I have never really had to be. I vape mine at 50% ish. Cannot imagine trying to set it that low although I am sure it can be done. It is def reliable and even though my daily old faithful one has needed to be repaired twice it is always an easy process. I am assuming as long as Craving vapor is around they will continue to honor the warranty

The potentiometer on the Hexohm will not be as precise as the variable wattage adjustment found on the Dicodes. As you can see with the below picture there are only 10 increments which the output will be dependent on the resistance of your coil. You can use an Ohms Law calculator to find what that output will be in watts. Example: A 1 ohm coil at the 10% setting will yield 11.2 watts. Not necessarily a bad thing, but with low wattage vaping a little more effort maybe needed to find your preferred wattage in comparison to the Dicodes where you are allowed to adjust in 0.5 increment’s.
