computer people please help
I had some Excels docs on my old computer (windows 7). I bought a new computer Windows 10 and came home with my old hard drive (in a box attached to new computer)
In trying to access these Excel docs (either by dragging them to my desktop OR accessing through old hard drive) the Excel sheets are blank. I was using Office Professional 2010 when I made the docs. I did not buy an Office program to load onto the new computer.
Open Office or LibreOffice should open them fine as well.

Can you open other files such as docs and pictures. I am wondering it they just put the old HD in a case without removing all the ownership/security off of the files first.

Ownership would have generated an error. A blank page could be either Dynamic Data Exchange (DDE) feature or corruption. An online viewer such as Google Docs or even Zoho Sheets can verify their integrity which if they are still intact we can look at why Office is not working (or turning off DDE) or install a 3rd party Office suite.

one of the problems is that office 2010 files are not directly compatible with windows 10 and office 2018 or 2019 as the old format for office 2003 to 2010 is .doc and the newer office reads .docx files. in order to read older files you need to go into settings for office and allow reading of the old .doc format. this should take care of it. hope this helps.

I would take 108 and a/c than -25 and heat. One I can walk outside for a while and still survive. The other, nope, not for me. Bad enough when I shoveled snow in 5 degree weather, but am I glad that polar vortex isn't vortexing over me. I'll take the heat.
I rarely have to step out my door, but even if I had to more, I'd prefer subzero. My body doesn't function right in the heat, and it knows when it's hot outside even when it's safely ensconced in an air-conditioned lair.

Morning! How goes it on your side of the globe? Can’t wait for your fresia to land so you can tell me what you think. FYI... don’t fill and recap with the af open. It’ll leak a bit. It only happened when I filled it to the top though.

Thanks for the tip, I've already got lazy with that after using only 1 top air rta ;)

I'm hanging out for winter

    Here's my weather - even stuck it into F for ya's ;)

The possibility of freezing to death on my balcony a few inches away from safety is fascinating to me. I wonder if vapor would crystallize like boiling water does when you toss it into the frigid air? BRB science!

Seems like if it wasn't so windy, the vapor might fall toward the ground rather than floating upward. I'm going to try it again in the morning if the wind has died down a bit. The arctic vape test is go. Such a historic moment.
    Very impressed with your attitude.
I would be changing the bandit song to,

Be sure and wear, well... a couple dozen layers at least. No need to freeze to death for the sake of science

I found an answer but I am so computer illiterate that I cannot really even explain what I did. Downloaded something from Microsoft and then I was able to pull it up. Thanks all. Phew. I am fiduciary of my daughters trust account and thought I had lost all info

I think what I ended up doing was something along these lines  (very confused) This is why I was so hesistant to change over to Windows 10! I knew there would be a problem somewhere down the road.

I was out there in my jammies and boots. I lasted about 37 seconds. It literally sucks the life right out of you.

Morning all, and a Happy New Year to everyone.

I haven't been sulking, just really busy and building up enough strength to visit this thread without displaying my characteristic lack of self control when it comes to vape gear. Since Christmas I've added another mod and 5 atty's to my collection. As to DIY flavours, the 10ml bottles have been breeding like rats.

My only saving grace has been the January sales. In normal circumstances, the baillif's and divorce courts would be beckoning, but I've managed to evade their clutches so far.

I'll post some photos and run away to a safer thread, once I've locked my credit card up.

@Letitia, hope the cats are doing OK. My BIL was given a sample of your recipe as a Christmas present, and he was so impressed he asked for the recipe. His version didn't turn out too good though, don't know why .

great suggestions already but there's also the full blown libreoffice suite which is also free and does most of the things ms office does.
