Good morning fellow Shiny's! :)

I don't know if I have anything coming today or not. I like to be surprised.

@Letitia - fleas, yes, I noticed many yesterday while mowing the lawn. Pesky too. Question - what are you using to treat your yard? Am interested. I use PetArmor on my dog and have had zero problems. One application per month.

@chanelvaps I am in love with Biscuit and Bagel. So cute. That kitty hammock rocks. I want to hop on and chill hahaha. Never knew they had those. I agree with "what is wrong with people" and do know what you mean. You are being way too kind but I get it lol. Fostered dogs some years ago and, yes, people and the things they do grrrrrr (me being way too nice).

Ok music lovers my morning selections so far have been blues based. And cranked.
Keb' Mo' - "Live: That Hot Pink Blues Album" and Robben Ford - "A Day In Nashville".
Next up will be Stevie Ray Vaughan - "Live At Carnegie Hall" followed by Robert Cray - "4 Nights Of 40 Years Live".

@Skeebo Menard's premium insect control dry, the dry lasts longer. Ortho when it's on sale. I put a thick line around the base of the house and sprinkle the rest of the yard. Either wait for a light rain or gently dampen with a hose. I keep my animals in until the dew drys the day after application. Another trick for ants is a bead of salt across their path or in a crack they're using. Ants won't cross a salt path. Great for between the boards of a deck.

I was wondering how your daughter was doing. I hope they find out what the problem is, quickly and accurately. You guys are in my thoughts.

Thank you! All in a she's doing good. Of course she had to maintain the family tradition of only having rare and exotic diseases. Her problem is very rare, but responds to treatment so I'm not too worried. Her doctor was a little surprised with the biopsy result when he got it and I think I hurt his feelings when I asked him if it showed the actual diagnosis before he said it. But I'm used to weird things and the rare stuff always pops to mind rather than the mundane.

Then again, she also had adult croup about a year or two ago. Definitely the real thing with cultures and tests so we're all sure that was it. Which is so rare in adults there have only been a handful ever reported. I think she was number 18 ever published in the medical literature.

Which beats even me who had a very unusual endocrine disorder found when I was about 22 in school that's only about 300 ever described. Probably more by now, but you get the family picture.

And that's OK, we're used to this and fortunately it all can be taken care of, but lead to lots of head scratching by the specialists. The medical residents in the hospitals love us because they get up say they once saw an actual case during their training years. Nothing beats a real challenge. OTOH I'd rather fall in the normal millions of routine high cholesterol patients, but you work with what you have.

Good. I'm glad you have v2 mosfet's.

Honestly I don't know if 3rd party sellers would ship their initial units back for the updated ones.

I have no clue as to how many of the v1 mosfet devices and spare chips are still 'out there'. My feeling is better safe than sorry.

Think it is a nice mod and I am considering grabbing one + spare mosfet's.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
For anyone looking at the Cthulu tube mod here is some info which may be of help.
Also @Heartsdelight as you did express an interest in the mod yesterday.

There are two versions of the mosfet. You want to make certain you have version 2 for safety (see the end of this post for what safety features the mod has).

Here are a couple things to be aware of with the version 1 mosfet.

1) The tab on the original mosfet would get bent downward from a longer positive pinned atty.
View attachment 822323
Note: See the tab above. That serves as the connection to your atty.

2) Version 1 of the mosfet was not coated. Meaning if you got liquid on it the device could auto-fire (per Todds videos).

Cthulu was made aware of these problems a while back and updated the mosfet with a glob of silicone under the tab on the mosfet. Problem 1 solved.
View attachment 822325
See the silicone glob under the tab above. That is a version 2 mosfet.

Cthulu also coated the mosfet meaning if you get liquid on it it won't auto-fire unlike v1.
Problem 2 solved. (per Todds video)

Also be aware if you have an atty with a longer 510 positive pin and you screw it down you can break the mosfet. (per Todds video)

Here are Todds videos if interested.
Todds original video for an explanation of the problems.

His 2nd video/review covers how Cthulu resolved the problems.

The mosfet protections include reverse battery protection, if it detects a short it won't fire and it has a 3.2 volt cutoff. I believe those are the same protections found in the Luna (and other similar devices).

I am considering getting one directly from Cthulu as you are assured of getting the v2 mosfet.
Mod:
Cthulhu Tube MOD, Cthulhu Tube
Mosfet:
Cthulhu Tube chip
Instructions how to change the mosfet:
How to replace Cthulhu Tube chip? – CTHULHU MOD -Innovations for Vaping

That is the end of my public service announcement. ;)

Cheers!!! :)

That is a cute little sucker. I have to save your post because it's got to be better than any instruction manual that must come with it. If I liked tube mods I would grab one. Or two. Or you know, shiny, so backups of backups. And lots of replacement mosfets too. I didn't notice but do they sell the little fire button separately, because I can see that going AWOL the first time you change the chip out.

Fine, I'm not a fan of tubes, but it's tough to say no.

I find that keeping my lawn cut fairly short helps too. I do need to get back into the swing of mowing twice a week.

I would still be careful of attys with long 510 pins on the tube mod. That silicone bumper will help but the leaf contact can still be crushed, it's a poor design.

I use a mod guard or two under any atty with long pins on mine, FT sells Utlem insulators that are 1mm and 1.8mm thick in 22 / 24mm diameter.

I have mine cut every 10 days, love a very green lawn and adore my violets. Right now it's covered with white clover but I don't get any early morning rabbits, the older cats prefer to be outside this time of year. They even want fed outside. Saves me a fortune in litter costs. Poor George and Gracie aren't allowed out just yet, makes me feel mean.

Perfect. It’s the updated version with a glob of silicone under it.

Of course now my shaking hands have to put that screw back in  !!
You should check your Ultroner Mini Stick as well. Starting from 6:40 in the video below, Mark Todd talks about the problem with the tab and the unidentified silicone block that came with the mod that is intended--apparently--to fix it.

I am happy your daughter is doing well.

And I am the one in my family who gets all the weird and rare. But like you said, "you work with what you have." I have never experienced the "normal" things people get. I don't know that I personally would want to trade for those because I am so used to my "stuff". On second thought, yes perhaps.

Thanks for your kind words on the Cthulu. Last night I was researching it for my own needs. Thought it best to share here for others plus I knew Fidola13 had just received hers. Better safe than sorry. We must look out for each other IMO.

Mine did not have any block, but I had already cut a couple rectangles from an old silicone carto cap to wedge under the tab before I saw Todd's video.

Yay, they came early! Axial, Unicorn and a Cap for each.

I took myself out to lunch and was sitting at the counter talking to my server when my phone chimed.

“Doncha hate it when you’re about to eat and the phone rings?” She asked.

I peeked at my phone to see a delivery update. “Nah, it’s just my unicorn.”

She refilled my lemonade and made herself scarce.

Ok lovers of animals here is my current dog. Meet Carli. Her father was a police K9.
IMG_0675 FIXED.jpg

This is her father after winning top schutzhund honors many years ago. He (sire) is a sable the b$t$h was solid black (my dogs parents).

In this video her father is apprehending a fake criminal. Bear in mind this is ALL fun for the dogs and none are hurt. Her father had to retire early due to an on-duty injury. The lady handling him is a very good friend. She is one heck of a trainer. One of the best IMO. She breeds and trains canines for law enforcement and personal protection (plus a few pet quality). I still take my dog up to her place for training and to watch the police and sheriffs work their dogs. Much fun. You may have to turn your volume up as the audio is low in the vid.

    Morning shinies ;)

Oh what a relief, I thought you were going to say you no likey :D FT is packing mine as we speak :)

Your fav driptip makes it look so cute! R u using it in tc?

Me likey a lot :D And yeah, I've been using it in TC. Trying to decide now if I want the 4ml extension or not. I much prefer shorter RTAs, so I'll just see how often I'm filling it.

Always happy to inspire fostering. You do not have to have a zillion and your house does not have to stink if you do it right. Kittens in cages ALWAYS until you are sure they know the litter box well. After that a spare bedroom is all you need and only get a few at a time. It is so easy to have some kittens to entertain you especially if you do not have to have them when they are adults and just eating, pooping hair leaving everywhere cats that will steal your money with vet bills. Below is my newest fosters Biscuit and Bagel. Babies abandoned at a storage facility. What is wrong with people  (no wonder I do like them) lol.View attachment 822299 View attachment 822301

I don't like people much either ;) family, friends and ECF members are excluded from this. You are a hero BTW
