They are beautiful, and we have a ton of them here in NC. Here are a couple I have snapped over the years.

It's a Lilac tree so very attractive to many insects including butterflies. It does really well until the summer when it then gets a bit too hot for it but it has lovely racemes of flowers :)

I didn’t even think of lilac. Ours bloom in April, and mine are at the far ends of the yard so I never see anything on them. Butterflies aren’t generally even here yet by then, anyway. They’re smarter than humans. They don’t come up until it’s not freezing.

So beautiful!!! I’m glad to see I’m not the only person who runs out excitedly and takes pictures of them :) they’re like free shiny stuff!

Good morning Shiny's
Fireluke 2's are scheduled for delivery today. Hoping to like it enough to keep in rotation for a while, be nice having a atty I don't have to build. Picked up one for Meg as well so if at least one of us likes them it won’t be money wasted.

Our lilac is the same....starts to go into leaf at the beginning of april and then goes into full flower by early may...smells devine

Obviously photo was an oldy but the butterflies are best in May here as everything finds it too hot once the summer kicks in.....some parts of France are 40+ today....Paris is 42 degrees

View attachment 828269 Didn’t we have a conversation about 10,000 pages ago about butterflies? I am enjoying this beautiful creature right now as it feeds in my flowers.
Gorgeous! Thanks for sharing..

Thanks Zazie... This is really helpful. I have been taking a product from the pharmacy for rehydration and I'm still eating but only certain things.. Nice to know the correct ratio for making it myself
I hope you don't need it soon.

Efun order from last Thursday is still “processing”. The Ehpro cold steel is still listed in stock and ships immediately, so I sent an inquiry. Fingers crossed they just haven’t updated the status. It saved almost $25 ordering from them, but my impatience is getting the best of me!

The US warehouse has the black in stock now, same price, 40.00.

I have the world's worst green thumb - despite that Mum & Dad got me a Daphne shrub for Christmas, as they know how much I love the scent of its flowers

It's stayed in a huge tub, so I can babysit it better - we have 10°F frosts and snow in winter. And as it's on my deck, I've been watering it when needed. But I still expect it to not survive either the rest of the winter or my tender loving care ;)

Despite this, today it gave me a sign, and made my day - my very first Daphne flower bud:wub:

Come on Ange... I just read the page you linked for the Daphne with caring tips and there are only three you need to remember (1, 2, 5). Once you are done with 1 it's a breeze. You CAN do this, especially after your Mum and Dad got it for you. You have to keep it going! Even I could that ...I think... and I am challenged, but learning, with plants. I wish I had Daphne's. Too bad there isn't smello-vision for those.

Please do post a photo when they blossom. Would love to see your progress with it.

Maybe I should buy some cacti. Between the dog destroying some plants in the garden chasing rabbits and me accidentally pulling one or two I thought were NOT plants, yeah, I think you get the picture.

My wife had to tell me all the time what was what and I still don't remember. Other than roses, buttercups, daisies and tiger lilies IDK. I am looking things up all the time and learning before pulling. And trying my best to keep the garden going. ;)

I can never remember the name of this one but they sure are cool looking.

@DeloresRose and @charlie1465 those are awesome butterfly photo's. And Charlie you left out one of the best parts of the lilacs ... their scent (at least I think). My neighbors have a huge lilac bush and when they are in bloom the scent travels far. I clip some that overhang into my yard for the kitchen table and the scent fills my house. No need for plugins during lilac season. I do hope you get to feeling better soon Charlie.

ETA: sorry Charlie, I was on the previous page before you posted on the scent of the lilacs. ;)
