I remember going to the Iowa state fair. Pretty amazing experience of middle America. Got caught in a stampede, or as a NYer what I considered a stampede.

It was really about 30 cows being moved across the field / fairgrounds / whatever that I got caught up in the middle of. For the most part the cows steered around me, and those that wouldn't responded to a bit of a push. The really bad part was ending up covered in cow drool. It's way nastier than dog drool. That was my big farm adventure and extent of my experience with farm animals outside of a petting zoo.
Love it there. I need to get back there more often. My son loves it too. Kids need those kind of experiences in their lives.

@Vape Muppet , Dad, Mum and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Stay on your Dad to do what they ask so he can come home. Sounds like you and your Mum are doing well there though.

Nice haul on the gear you've picked up recently too! ;)

@Vape Muppet I'm glad your dad's infection is under control. I went through a long hospitalization myself last year and it's a draining experience. All you can do is try to be supportive, but take care of yourself as well, it'll be some time before he's able to get back to himself and you'll still be needed then, so don't burn out too soon.

Got my rewraps a done. Nice little heat gun, did 6 batteries from start to finish in about 10 minutes, and that was with poking through my bus box to find the wraps on the bottom and extra insulator disks I'd needed. It'll be nice to get them back into rotation. Less stress on the whole lot of them that way.

Got a my juice too so I'm good for a few months at which time I should be ready to DIY again and save some money. Commercial juice really starts to add up.

Be careful you don't crack the magnet getting it out. Rare earth magnets are very brittle
I have dentists picks and hooks for working on vape gear. Comes in handy quite often. If you can get something sharp and pointy between them you should be able to carefully pry them apart. I had stacked disc magnets in my old Asmodus mech mod for a while until I found replacement magnets for it. It came with 2 button magnets that were different strengths and I broke them both. Sorry to hear of your dilemma. Good luck. When you get it back tohether make sure to check the screw on the button often. Mechanical mods require a fair amount of maintenance. It is made to be taken apart.
Polish everything inside while it's disassembled. The outsides of mine get tarnished pretty bad sometimes but the insides are kept immaculate. The button will build up a lot of patina quickly if it isn't cleaned and this will affect conductivity if it gets bad enough. Could lead to hot spots as well.
Pro tip: to test the polarity of the magnets, put the button in backwards. If the magnets stick then the button magnet is in the right way. If they repel then you have to flip it or they will stick when you put the button in the right way.
Thanks so much for this. I just ordered a dental kit, and I have I have high hopes for the probe.

I've been watching videos on mech maintenance and will be scouring the mech subforum for more pointers. My healthy respect for these things verges on terror, so I have a lot of studying to do before I'll begin to feel secure in my ability to use them safely. Although you wouldn't guess that from my not checking the Rosefinch carefully to be sure everything was battened down properly before using it. My eagerness to pair it with the Kraken made me stupid. I will be more much more attentive henceforward.

My magnet got flipped around on it when it was apart once. The other magnet sucked it into the housing from a few inches away. I got it out easily with a tiny flathead screwdriver. The dental tools are a very valuable tool for o rings and stuck 510s and many other things. The Rosefinch is a good mod to learn with because it is simple and has a 510 pin. Most mech mods are hybrids now. I only have 2 other mechs left. One is a hybrid Asmodus from 5+ years ago, The other is a Vanilla (the same mod that has killed 2 people) i haven't used either in quite a while. Don't have any desire to use the Vanilla, don't want to sell it to anybody either. It's good to have a healthy fear of mechanical mods. It keeps you on point and out of trouble. Disassembling, cleaning and checking them is part of safe ownership.
Edit:a loose button screw will cause the screw to sit higher than usual in the mod snd the mod will fire before the button is recessed.

@stratus.vaping
Here are some foxgloves for you.

Morning all.

I finally broke out the kitchen scale and tried my luck at mixing by weight. Terrible results. Volume and weight are very, very different amounts. Way too much flavor. I would have to measure each ingredient in every recipe by volume on the scale and rewrite all of them in grams. I doubt I’d live long enough for a project of such epic proportions.

Maybe I’ll try a couple and see how it goes. I’m going to need to do a flavor order though.
I've never mixed by volume, but when I first started mixing (a mere few months ago), I had to learn to go slowly. It's very easy to overshoot, and you also need to wait a moment after dripping in flavors to give the weight a chance to stabilize.

@Vape Muppet Nice to have you back. Sending positive thoughts for your dad's speedy recovery.

Well friends, the search for an MTL device has been feverish. So much so that I ended up ordering another mech :D I've got a white El Thunder on the way with plans to do some kind of stormtrooper setup with a black atty. For MTL, I might try a Kayfun Lite 2019. It looks pretty legit with that airflow adjustment in the 510 pin.
Did you get an authentic KFL 2019?

Hearts, your Stratum looks really sharp with the Dvarw! I'm still deciding between that and the Cthulhu mod. I like both but only want to get one or the other.

Sounds like the same scale I have. The AWS LB-501 and I really like it for DIY. At first it took me a bit to get comfy doing DIY by weight vs syringes. I was super comfortable with syringes. After time I found it easy, quick and no more cleaning syringes.

We used to watch the Great British Baking show. Every now and then I watch the reruns. They sure do make some nice stuff. Yum!

I can’t see how I’m going to get out of cleaning anything. I’ll still need droppers for the flavors that don’t come in dropper bottles, beakers for everything else. It’s not like I can pour the nic from a liter

No Shinys for me today. As a matter of fact I’m going to pack up some of the very restrictive MTL attys I bought for the Provaris that are just too tight for me and post them “somewhere”. The Hadaly and Entheons work perfectly for me on those mods.

Somehow I actually ordered 4 Ammits and I’ve never even opened 3 of them. Not sure how this keeps happening. Like the 3 Luna’s I bought but have only used one lol!! Oh and the original Aspire - how does anyone get a draw from that thing!!! Lol! The Nautilus X was much better except I think I accidentally ordered two of those two ha ha ha!

I think I must just keep adding to The Cart then not reviewing the cart before I check out. Sounds like something I would definitely do. I prefer the Pumper 18 of which I somehow ordered two anyways. Lol!

Honest to god I could open my own vape shop with the gear that’s never been opened or used!!!

Lol!!

So I’ve got reverse shinyitis- is that a thing???

Have a great day everyone!!
I love the Pumper 18 and am currently fighting an urge to buy another (I already have two). The only thing stopping me is that I haven't fallen in love any of the 1-on-1s on the Asmodus site. Lightning may yet strike, though.

Maybe I'll try again with a screwdriver. I'm probably being too tentative. I tend to overcompensate for my natural tendency to overdo.

I wish I knew why the thing fill apart this morning. Any ideas?

Props for your posts and thanks. 4 thumbs up, if I had 4 that is! I saved all + photo's. IMO the more info shared when it comes to mechs and safety the better for all.

I only need pipettes for DIYFS flavors so far. Everything else has come in squeeze bottles or dropper bottles. And you can mix right in the bottle, so no need for beakers, at least. Plus have you considered mixing up nicotine base ahead of time? You can mix it up in a squeeze bottle (mine hold eight ounces) and can just squirt away. The nic percentage in the final mix will vary a little depending on the flavor percentage, but, if you're okay with a narrow range, this method works great.

But why am I trying to sell you on mixing by weight, if you're happy with the way you've been doing it? Sheesh. Mind your own business, Sarah.

I never thought of flavors that come minus droppers or caps of some sort. I bought some yorker and twist caps for my bigger bottles of flavors and those work very nicely. But even with those I usually xfer the flavoring into a smaller, more manageable, bottle that has a dispensing cap. I mixed a recipe this afternoon and I do use one syringe for my nic. I use the nude nicotine that's sealed in argon gas and those bottles require a syringe for dispensing. NN gives you one syringe plus a very sharp/thick hypodermic needle with an order. I could give a horse a shot with it and the needle would not bend. ;)
