I think that for those of us that are Baby Boomers there is that model of Leave it to Beaver deep in our subconscious, creating more of a desire to fit that idea of a family unit that later generations weren't force fed. There are also some social circles which are all couples and don't welcome singles, particularly single women. This is all old thinking but it may be driving it.

Supply and demand may also be in play as we age - women outnumber men in the later stages of life.

The bottom line IMO is that some people need another with them, or think they do, to function in many settings. Strangely, those that feel that way seem to often want the more solitary people to follow suit.
Maybe they just don't understand.

Nail on the head, couples do not want to socialize with single women. And women do outnumber men, more as we all get older.

@Fredman1, is the process hydrofluoric acid based?

Hydrofluoric acid

There's also stronger acids mentioned in there as well, which would probably promptly remove the coating and then disolve the metal quickly. Which wouldn't be fun.
Not sure what the product is. All I know is its a anodise process and that penetrates very very slightly (like in 0.005mm) into the metal, making it easyish to remove. I then googled a over the counter product in the US that can be used by the layman (because @muth wants to do it herself).
In the video the guy used it on aluminum. It can't be that strong then. He did use a mask, which is always a good thing.
Ofcourse after the process give it a good wash, or preferably a ultrasonic bath.

this is so right. I have a lot of girlfriends that always say "aren't you scared or tired of being alone" these are the same girlfriends that do not really cherish their man, he is either there to pay the bills or do the yardwork. I learned to enjoy my own company a long time ago and now relish it.

Well it’s no secret that I wouldn’t mind having someone to do the yard work. That’s not much of a basis for a relationship though, I need you for an hour a week during the mowing season to swing a weed trimmer, then LEAVE!

there is no way I would inhale from something that this acid was used on. I used it destroy grease and grim from my chimney. NO matter what you cleaned it up in later, I still would not do it. I mean, WHY?
I used it for etching glass, nasty stuff. It will also remove some of the older anti-scratch coatings from polycarb reading glasses.

No, when you meet your soulmate you will not always make each other happy. The goal is growth in a relationship where you support each other, even if DEEPLY unhappy. The husband hated the suboxone phase, but he helped immensely during detox. He did not enjoy my early bipolar.

I don't love some of his PTSD symptoms. We think differently about a ton of things. We argue, and we make up.

The sex has to be the best you have ever had though. If not, it's not your soulmate, and you can't handle that other stuff.

Good luck. My creator gave me an advantage. We both glowed to each other from DAY ONE. We did not date for several years he had to get some really bad, bad women to make him a better man out of his system.

I was still trying to make it work, like with the ex, so I took one look, said, "I don't need THAT."

I will also add, when placed in sketchy and difficult situations with the soulmate, like when I relapsed, my Creator placed people and things in my life to talk about their weird soulmate situations and how it all worked out even if they were freaked out.

But mainly with the soulmate you want to do stuff, be happy, and make them happy EVEN if it's not like "OOH yes, honey let me massage your broken neck for 50 minutes like, YOU do it because doing it makes YOU happy, because they are happy.

Okay lucky gal off to do YOGA. I had a very unhappy marriage and now a SUPER great one, and honestly if we weren't both nuts and sober I don't think it would work..

Okay this happy lady off to do yoga. OOF.

I hope sloth is okay too.

I just can’t belive my mom and I’s luck. I put up our fake tree yesterday and lights. I had a good day looking at a truck with my uncle and watching my cousins hockey game. I like the truck and may buy it pending an inspection.

I phone mom before driving home and she’s hysterical because the metal pole bent at the bottom of the tree when she slid it into place once all decorated . It fell over and the pole is busted. Then she goes to plug in our lights and half are burnt out.

I’ve been trying to fix the tree but it’s not working. I’m ready to snap because she’s in her pity party and if we have no tree for Christmas she will be so depressed. I hate Christmas so much but she likes looking at the tree and spent all day decorating it. There’s a tree shortage around her and she hates real trees anyways.

I don’t know what to do except shell out a couple hundred bucks for a tree.

I'm a happily single man/full time single parent after my wife of 16 years left me (via email) for another man. It's 6 1/2 years later - after the initial shock wore off it became the best time of my life. So much freedom to make choices based on my own priorities for me and my son. The downside is most couples find it awkward to socialize with single men (not just single women Delores) and they either try to set you up with their single girlfriends or they only invite you to group functions. The awkwardness comes from people assuming you want to be like them.
Having lived the good life now there's no way I would ever have a permanent live-in partner again

Is it one of those trees that have lights already on it? If not, cut a dowel that fits inside the section you are trying to repair, use a drill to drill 4 pilot holes through the metal pipe, and put some screws in it. Put the repaired tree in your base and tighten it down. Will this help?

I'm a bit concerned....wonder where the Slothman is? Haven't heard from him in a while. I hope a blizzard hasn't isolated them from civilization :w00t:
    @Sloth Tonight

I've caught glimpses of The Sloth hangin' around the forum recently:p

It had lights on it. I tired to fix in a bunch of different ways and i was gonna make something at my work but eventually I decided to go to Walmart and buy one. I found a good one marked down from 170 to 100 bucks. She is very happy she says it is the fluffiest and tallest tree she’s ever had :)

Oh well it’s nice to make her happy. Christmas just tends to stress me out so much. I hate what it’s become to so many people.

Here it is though. The new one Before decorating it. It’s after 11 and just finished. I’m So tired, good night all and thanks for all the help to everyone who gave me tips. Appreciate it.

    Good morning shinies :D

Currently in back of ambulance transferring to Nice enjoying the scenery in the beautiful Cote d'Azur.

Sounds like grumpy old lady syndrome and grumpy old man syndrome to me... :D Don't give up on true love it can and does happen but it is difficult to meet the right person.

Men always outnumber women young or old it's natural selection. :nun:

Seriously, I think it becomes difficult to repeat feelings that we had when younger and that we shouldn't expect that to happen.....but above all we mustn't force it. I met my wife after a lot of life under the bridge and my relationship with her is better than anything I ever experienced before. So don't give up guys

    @Ricky Vapes you're a good man mate.
@charlie1465 i'm glad you're in the home stretch buddy. Still thinking of you.
Thanks Fred it's nice to have international support :)

In fact just heard I'm to have a blood test and they are going to send me home until I'm ready for the collection. I'm really happy..... But typical France. I've just been driven for 1 hour in the rush hour from 1 hospital to another just to have a blood test and then get sent home via another ambulance... It's bonkers but hey it's a great country to live in and the health service is second to none.

    I love France :D

Hope that your doing well mate... Did you find out anything with your new security set up?
