Morning all!

Merry Christmas Eve!

@jandrew Beautiful! I hope you can get it set up well, and have many happy hours with it. I got the Guild out the other day, but my shoulder has seized up a little too much to get my arm over the body. I’m going back to the doctor next month, and see what else can be done.

My mail yesterday - oops, forgot to put the Blank in there. No biggie, you guys have seen enough of my Blanks I bet!

I surprised myself and went with the pink. It’s a very rich, somewhat frosted color, a grownup pink.

I'm going to FT the tools with the code (thanks @lupinehorror )

All you actually need is ceramic tweezers, decent scissors, and a decent wire snip. FT has all for good prices. Would advise getting the coil master brand of the ceramic tweezers, worth the couple extra bucks.

don't i need screw drivers or is the one with elevate enough?

there's a lot of options for kits, picked these just from the look:
    https://www.fasttech.com/products/0/10066012/9714087-pilotage-rudder-diy-tool-kit-for-e-cigarettes-5
    https://www.fasttech.com/products/3040/10061911/9702485-authentic-vapor-storm-v2-diy-tool-kit-for-e
FT is down and up... can't link now but there's the vandyvape two, either 8 or 15 pieces.

not sure whether to be just separate things per @Letitia, if you're assuming i'd have drivers or whatever necessities aside from the ceramic tweesers scissors and snipper; or to pick up a kit as it's cheaper overall, though worried about the quality then. would appreciate advice on brands either or. also per @Opinionated i need me a brush to clean coils.

maybe should also order some coils (i ordered quadcore ni80 with elevate from wotofo). i'm assuming coilology is recommended? or something else? maybe a coil sampler bunch? i should stay above 3mm id though for elevate if i'm to go by reviews. if not a sampler, then what? aliens? maybe something other than ni80, kanthal, since i am used to it from the stcoks might be a safe bet right?

    thanks all

Since you don't yet know what you prefer get a sample pack of coils. I order my wire from AVS so can't help with recommendations there. Coil Master tools are a bit higher but worth it imo. For snips lupinehorror recommends wotofo and I trust him so go with those. I have one kit and don't use most of the tools in it, it's up to you to figure out what will suit you better.

Happy Christmas Eve shiners! May all your shiny packages appear under the tree. Of course they’ll be opened today as anyone in this thread would never let a shiny package sit for a whole day unopened.

Funny you should say that. Not when they live in NJ. I just had a nephew stay for 4 days. I thought it was going to be 2.:tumble:

It was 2 days. It just felt like 4. :D

I really do love the look of my new Rose Finch:wub:
But I Really do hate that bloody bottom fire button:-x
I need to grow another finger to use it comfortably I thinko_O
Try using your knuckle....your little finger knuckle or the next..... that's often comfortable. Grip it near the base :)

My preference for screw drivers are precision screw drivers with the longer handles... They make it easier to do the screws on RTA's, for me.

use what comes with the RTA, each one comes with the right screw driver for the screws.. and then you'll see why my preference is something with a longer handle..

Some people get along fine with what comes with the RTA and I did also for a full year before I switched over to a longer handle.... but the longer handled drivers just make it easier and just plain nicer when building, hence my recommendation.

The wire brush is nicer for Clapton and other fancy wire for cleaning in the little grooves. It's not absolutely necessary, but it is nice to have. Otherwise, you'll run the coils under cold water and use a toothbrush..

either way works, the wire brush works a little better for fancy coils..

I thought for sure that I was going to love the Colossal right out of the box and be okay with a Delta revenant but it's the opposite. I do not like the lock feature on that colossal it is a pestering buggy mess. I think I can get used to it. Meanwhile the Delta revenant actually turned out to be pretty darn cool except the RDA on it is awful I mean awful you get more flavor out of sniffing your juice. I'm so glad that I looked at reviews before I tried it out or it would have been a really big hit to my self-esteem as far as building goes lol

I'm going to be honest with you or at least with the kit that I bought the screwdriver is really substandard. I don't use it I don't like the interchangeable screwdriver. That being said those little ones that come with the RTA or Rda can be difficult simply because they're so little and short but at least they will fit. You can get a little multi-tool screwdriver thing for a few dollars. I do however like the kit option I got a cheap one off Amazon but it's nice to have all the things just to get going right away but I'm going to be honest the only things I have used out of it are the little coil brush the ceramic tweezers and the coiling jig. Oh and the wire snippers I forgot about them. They do have that little crane neck tweezers in a lot of them but I don't use it even though it is nice to tuck the wick into places. See I'm a bit of a bumbler and if I'm not careful I will use the metal bent neck tweezers while I'm strumming a coil so I instead only use the ceramic.

Charlie it looks like they've rounded off a lot of sharp edges on the deck and no doubt lots of other good design improvements. My V1 clone is in a box with all the spare glasses and plumbers' tape etc so it's only going by memory. Yours looks amazing and just the type of vape that we DL types have been wanting for so long from the BB!

As far as coils go you may want to get yourself spool of regular round or Clapton something easy to play with I think it's good to have round wire at first simply because you're going to mess up you're going to build coils that you don't like and round wire is cheap as chips while Clapton is a little bit more expensive and you get a lot less for the money. You can experiment on your round wire and then use the Clapton if you want.

A variety pack is really good just to see what you like I ended up doing that a little bit late and honestly I didn't get that much information from it because what I like is either round wire or Clapton or fused Clapton LOL so I could have just bought that to begin with.

I got a sampler from Central Vapors it is not like high-quality it has the demon killer sticker on it but I don't really know if that's true because there's a t different kinds that are the exact same coils with different stickers on them. That being said I paid $3 for like 48 coils that I only use three different kinds out of the eight. But for the price the coils work.

I agree I would build something like the Cat house on the Kings with a program to help low-income owners who are otherwise great caregiver to be able to keep their pets instead of having to surrender then because of simple vet bills
I LOVE Cat house on the Kings.

As they steep they change quite a bit so try the ones you do not like later.

Sorry to hear that --- shoulder problems is one of the reasons I went in this direction, and in that regard it feels pretty good. However, I am leaning towards a return due to the other issues.
