I purchased the copper unicorn rda from ARLiquids pretty much because everybody else was lol and because it was super cheap like $5 cheap. Cheaper than the other color options and since I didn't know if I actually really wanted it or not I got the cheapest one not particularly because I wanted copper... but my Heavens am I happy that I succumb to peer pressure because it is the most beautiful thing I think I've ever seen. I'm so glad that I didn't get the stainless steel or the black or even get a cap to cover the copper because it's gorgeous. I haven't used it yet but I'll probably end up doing that today! And it came with an extra drip tip

I bought the copper too, because I couldn’t pass up for that price. I have it on the unicorn mod - that came with a matching pink cap that fits the ardent RDAs, but I think it looks sweet with this copper.

I really like them and I’d like to have either unicorns or axial for each of the tube mods.

Post us some pics of your build if we can help
No one will laugh at your little coil or your big coil or your wicking ;)

can we help?do you have a tank with a factory coil to use while your building.

    evening and thanks guys_
yes, i've got several tanks as backup (though i think i've burn two of the coils quickly because they've lying around and got gunked up_ i did leave them upside down to prevent that, didn't take... any tricks on this regard btw??)

i gave up last night when even one of the wotofo coils with their cotton was also dry, but i left it to wick overnight hoping and it's ok now. not as good as the first one, but maybe i've just temporarliy damaged my thraod and tongeu with all the dry hit.

my impression is there's one maybe two problems at work: the wick is definitely getting choked inside the coil, and, maybe, i'm losing the air pressure/vacuum when i hook the deck upside down because the tank was full from previous fills (if anyone knows a trick to seal the vacuum while the elevate is still full , would appreciate a share). other times, the coilolgy cotton was either too thin or also not wicking right.

i've taken some pics of some of the wicks and will give a report with some findings in my Dip a toe? thread. you know, once i'm up too hooking the phone up to computer etc.

    you know....
installing is really fun despite everything... errm... maybe i do want to build my own coils... first i want to play with MOAR TANKS!

one other quick question though: all these 'exotic' coils out there; is there a way to stop the crackling and spitting? it's not just the exotic ones either. the coilology stuff is all doing it, even the claptons ( inknow theyre not single wire, but as opposed to juggers i mean_). anyway_ anti crackling tricks, witchhunters?!

oh and moaaaaaaaaaaarnig foaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarsyth and everybody else on the wrong side of the ball!

Once you know your RTAs tricks, it becomes even more fun and addictive buiilding ;)

Your exotic/fancy coils are a 2, 3, 4+ thicker single wire strands together, with thinner wire tightly wrapped around them. Juice gets in between the tiny gaps in the wires, which makes the crackling sound. Twisted wires can sometimes cause more spitting than non-twisting.

The bonus of multiple wire coils is more surface area, which should equal more flavour. But either single round wire or a simple 2 or 3 strand fused clapton wire, is easier to use while you are learning how to build your first RTA. Installing a coil is always the easy part - it is wicking that takes trial and error.

For the way I vape - I prefer a cool temp, round single wire or thinner gauge rectangular/flat wire is perfect. You will figure out what you like the best too - and the only way to do that, is trying everything out :thumb:

I don't use the same RTA as you're using I don't have one however there are a couple different atomizers that it's easier for me to build the coil than it is for me to put a pre coiled 1 in. One of them is the copper Vape Project X clone none of my coils that I have purchased will work in it not easily they're all wrapped the wrong way. Which is something I did not know was actually a thing but it is so I either have to take it apart and wrap the coil the other way or just start from scratch to begin with.

There's a couple others too but it just escapes me as to which ones. I only have about five different kinds of pre-wrapped coils so that might be part of the issue but there's still some RTA and RDA that I just wrap the coil for because it's so much easier.

Also I struggle still quite a bit on Dual Coil setups where the legs have to go in the same hole so there's not an individual hole for each leg. Sometimes I'll turn those into single coils where the coils in the middle when I can and that requires that I wrap specifically for that setup. Other times my round wire will fit in there quite nicely but nothing else really well without me getting a little bit better it's still a learning curve that I'm dealing with.

    goodbye
View attachment 862867 Shiny's! I have some shiny mail coming from a generous and thoughtful member @icepickmaker84 today. I was commenting awhile ago on how much I would like a Dead Rabbit RTA, and icepickmaker84 gifted me one of his 4 dr rta's. This community is just the best. So glad I quit smoking. Pictures and comments coming later today. ;)

This is the one I'm getting

Well, I got home in the evening yesterday, and it was there. Been using it since then, and just love it. It sits on the Vaporesso throne, just like its brother rda. Love the flavor and the top af. Easy to build too. This will be my daily driver for at least the coming week. Thanks again @icepickmaker84 for a great vape gift.

Another thing I was just thinking about just so that you can have a success .. do you happen to have any rdas? Because they are generally easier and a lot more forgiving because the wick placement doesn't matter that much. Of course you can still get dry hits but it's still easier in my opinion because you don't have to worry so much about leaking so you're less likely to put too much cotton in and then cause dry hits :)

i'm starting to gather the problem with complex coils, not sure if the reason is theyre preubilt or the manufacturer or whatever. the wotofo ones are quite alright though.

i've been doing the flip before you twist the fill cap trick with elevate sometimes. not sure, i think it's working. keep watching the BUBBULLZZ!

thanks for thoughts.. i don't know, though_ doubt i'd ever drip... if ever i'll cross over directly to squonking.. after all, i shiyonly have 2 mods:w00t:. well, yeah, three if you really must count the old aspr k4.. i'm a shoppaholic now aren't i:oops:

virm I have one thought. Cotton/rayon has grain fibers. Are you sure that grain is running lengthwise through the coil?

it's all pre-cut. but i have suspected the cotton for a minute. speaking of which: since FT still hasn't shipped my order coz theyre waiting for stock of elevate replacement bubbles i might order me some cotton... i have thrown a 4th of my supply last couple of days.

also! ehem.. back to shinitising [really strange, you'd think the difficulties would've put me off]: how tricky is it to avoid leaking on the gear:wub:? the bottom air and the 'plows thru liquid' are my hesitation, how can it possibly drain more juice than elevate, i'm refilling every 15mins
