Good to “see” you, kiddo! I’d rather have a job I love and make “enough”, than a job I hate going to and make a mint. You have to be able to love your life. Happy New Year!
Good to see you too! There is a lot of opportunity in the company too. I am eventually going to try for an Executive position and am willimg to relocate. I'll have to see what's available as I get closer to the end of my lease. I don't know where I would go but they have pla es all over the country. I have always talked about moving out of here but now that It looks like it's probably gonna happen I'm getting a bit nervous. Things are pretty bad here now though. There's hardly any jobs at all.
Happy New Year! Hoping 2021 is better for everybody.

Canon does have Nikon beat for video. And I know some semi-professional photographers who use them and love them.

I had one, a dslr, and hated it. I could not get a decent shot out in the field. I can’t remember what model it was, I got it maybe 4 years ago, and gave it to my daughter after I got the Nikon.

I guess it’s how you plan to use them, and I notice Canon users are a very small minority in birding from what I’ve seen. I’m not sure how Olympus stacks up against either, but I see plenty of them on the trail so they must do alright.

Take it with a grain of salt, because I’m such a newbie. But I think it’s to do with how fast and well you can get focus in strange and horrible light around constant obstruction- and those are not issues for everyone taking pictures. You can usually get you friends and pets out of the weeds and with the light in front of them, but wild critters you have to shoot where they are, while they’re there. And you have 5 seconds or less to get ‘em.
Yes I agree but there's a rivalry between Nikon users and Canon and you can get some much cheaper lenses for Nikon. Some of the long range sigma lenses are really good for the cost and you don't get so much for the canon's. There's a sigma 600 that's pretty cheap and impressively sharp for the money. It's true though that the canon's have some impressive tracking technology but the absolute best for that are the Sony cameras, but again you can't get the lenses for those. There are more and more coming all the time.

It is a big decision though. Once you've decided you're stuck with their lenses and to change is costly. Your camera's pretty decent for its smaller sensor but in some ways that's better than a full frame as some of the full frame lenses will give you 1.5 times the reach with the equivalent lens on a full frame.

No doubt about it the canon's are more expensive in the long run but if you want a point and shoot it's canon who makes some of the better ones.

Anyway enough rambling and happy New Year sweetie

A new start somewhere else (as long as it's not too cold) is a good thing. Bit stressful with the move etc but once you're settled...bingo.

Good to see you too my friend. Happy New Year to you and family :)

Good morning shinies

Going to play with my SQuape Arise and Grus today as they're still sitting there on the table.

I'm going to watch some videos but any wicking tips would be appreciated :)
I got my YFTK Arise clone on the same day as the kayfun 5 Sq SE so I haven't given it a lot of attention yet.

The YFTK Arise is a good quality clone - no problems at all. I built and wicked it based on Mark Todd's vid but haven't vaped it much yet

So far it vapes ok (full open - no inserts) but I'm getting a bit of a whistle from the AF. Possibly my coil placement but would like to know what you think when you run it.

You may have seen this already Charlie

Good morning Shiny's

Quite enjoying the Artemis rdta. Need to play around with coil height but pleased that I took a chance and already had 2 more and spare parts ordered. Dead simple to build and wick. I'll take a pic of the build when I get around to tweaking.

@ShowMeTwice
I'll give you Ohio, how many points you giving me?:?:
Seriously? Spot me 17 and I'll take Ohio. ;)

As of about 1/2 an hour ago... The Alabama vs. Ohio State odds show the Crimson Tide are favored by a touchdown. The line is Alabama -7 and the game total is set at 76 points. Alabama is a -270 moneyline favorite, while Ohio State is +210 on the moneyline.

76 points --- I'll take the under.

I did not foresee Clemson losing to Ohio. And I don't see Bama losing to Ohio, but who knows, could happen. Especially if Ohio plays like they did last night.

Hi Charlie!!!

Arise... Todd's video that @Pigs posted is spot-on.

I install my coil legs up. That makes it easier to adjust the coil height to the AF. The Arise is pretty sensitive to coil height. A coil placed ~2mm, or higher, will give you a fairly intense throat hit and lower than 2mm gives a lighter TH. I've settled on ~1.5mm above the AF. If you are using one of the air discs make sure your coil is not too low.
Arise1.jpg....Arise2.jpg

If you are using a 2.5mm ID coil you won't need to trim the tails of your wick. With a 3mm ID coil I did trim some off the sides of each tail.

Trim the wick tails to the edges of the deck. Give the tails a real good fluffing. Lightly place the tails in the juice wells. Do not pack them in, no need to, lightly placed is perfect.
Arise4.jpg
The Arise works great with cotton or rayon. I use both.

Play with the juice flow. With 80vg/20pg I run mine wide open. With 50/50 I have the JFC about 50% open but also run it wide open at times.

Near the bottom of this page StattQualm has some good tips for the Arise. At the very bottom of the page you will find the manual and also a parts diagram for the Arise. The SQuape A[rise]

Good luck and I hope you like your Arise. :)

Happy New Year all! Hope everybody had a wonderful Christmas too. Haven't been here in a while, been busy at work. I have been cooking at a retirement community for the last 6 months. Pay isn't great but I like the job. We make really good food and it's all from scratch. I am also learning baking.
Happy New Year Skunk! :D

It's not your coil placement.

@Robfisher experienced the same thing. He took one of the air discs and used his Dremel tool to make a larger hole (3mm). That improved it for him.

See the bottom of page 1 and the first post on page 2.

I found a Miniken I lost last year and took the batteries out of it to charge it. They are in the charger correctly but it is blinking red. I have only known it to do this if they are inserted upside down. Any idea's anyone?
What kind of charger?

What voltage did the charger say each battery was when you inserted them?

Maybe your batteries being in the Miniken drained them to the point of no return due to over discharge. Some chargers may, or may not, be able to repair over discharged batteries. If your charger doesn't have that option I would recycle those batteries and go with known good ones.

Currently I'm using a Miboxer C4-12 v2 charger but I also use a few others. I have a battery charger addiction. The Miboxer C4-12 charger provides a wealth of battery info and many options. :)

Nitecore charger. Does not say what the voltage is. You get either a red light (needs charged) or a green light (done charging) LG brown batteries and fairly new when I put them in the Minikin that was lost. In the upstairs bedroom where I never go and use it as an attic.
