    Somewhere between here and there
Seems I made the old mind up. I'll enter the SBS market with the Kizoku Techmod. Seems like a solid device, but what I like most is the button placement...more natural hold for me.
I hold my mods as a hold my darling woman...with feeling and finesse ;)
I'm not inclined to grab an palm...if you get what I mean :D

Let us know what you think of it.

I'm very very sad to have to report this but for safety of fellow vapers, I must. I own two Techmods and two Unlimit RTAs. A few days ago, my black gunmetal Techmod started draining the battery very fast. Even though I might not have been using it, it would drain a fully charged battery within two hours. Again, I didn't have to be using it, and still it would drain. I noticed it was also slightly warm to the touch. After two days of acting up like this, the following day, it would not turn on and it had a bad burned plastic smell like the chip had burned.

My white Techmod was performing fine, then only two or three days after my black gunmetal Techmod stopped working, my white one would get really hot right under the battery tube. Hot enough that you wouldn't want to hold it. I stopped using it. They've never been dropped and both are relatively new. I got the black gunmetal one from 3F and the white one from Vapin Art in my state of Florida.

In all honesty, I think these defects are dangerous because I use freshly charged Sony VTC5A 18650 batteries which can be like IEDs if shorted.

Lastly, I have a silver Unlimit that has a top cap that will not unscrew from the rest of the tank. I haven't put it in a vice, but I will have to if I want to use it again.

I'm very sad to have to report this because the Techmods were amongst my favorite mods. It's very stylish and feels great in the hand. Kizoku is a Japanese company whose products are made in China. It's a relatively new in the mod and tank market and because they're new, I'm guessing the chips their Chinese manufacturer uses are not time tested. I've never heard of their Chinese manufacturer before.

And if that weren't tragedy enough, today I was using a champagne Squid Industries Detonator. The battery was on two bars so I decided to change it. I turned it off and switched out the Molicel 20700 for another one. When I switched it to 'On' the screen was supposed to come on but didn't. I saw a spark around the down adjustment button and again in the USB-C port. It gave off a bad burned plastic smell. This was also a relatively new mod. I mostly kept it in it's box because I used my black Detonator regularly.

Today, I wrote Kizoku support and also messaged them through FB. I'm hoping for a supportive response. I haven't contacted Squid Industries yet. I know their site no longer exists but I'll try Eric on FB.

I think these are omens that it was wrong to hoard. I should use the equipment that have held through for the couple of years I've had them. I was expecting these things to last through my vaping hobby and through the Vapeocalypse but they've lasted less than two or three months with pampered use. Oh well. I guess you gamble and roll the dice.

Sorry to hear that @stabwood is good . Hopefully they are still under warranty and you can get some type of refund or replacement.

Even though you bought them from two different retailers maybe they're from the same dodgy batch. Are the serial numbers close?

For those who read what I posted earlier, they ended up taking my son into surgery this evening because he wasn't going to make it until morning, and he's out and doing fine... all fixed up albeit sore.
Give him my best!! Where did you post...did I miss it? Or on another thread?
I hope Mom's ok too

That's a bummer....to tell the truth I liked one of their mods but something about the name held me back....

Thanks for the heads up. It seems like maybe they need to get their act together. I'm always a bit suspicious of the new kid on the block!!

Hope they sort it out for you without hassle :)

Nah was my deleted TMI post... We'd spent an hour or better laughing about something (and I a fair amount of eye rolling about men..) so in the explaining I explained my son's health situation. Since he initially wasn't going to have a quite this rushed emergency surgery (they were going to wait until morning), I figured I'd give a follow-up since they rushed him to the OR for emergency, emergency surgery...

And I'm fine. I'm usually the person that handles extreme crisis exceedingly well and then fall apart for no reason when there's no reason to fall apart...lol..

But this was nothing... my son did all the right things and all is well. He'll just be sore for a while I imagine...

I will send him your best wishes... :)

    Need some help guys.

Pod using friend of mine ( i gave him one of the ones i had stored up that i won in a giveaway) wants to make his jump to rebuildables.

I did reccomend to him my current setup (Grus mod+QR Juggy MR) he does like the Juggy but the mod he is not convinced.
He says he prefers just a ''metal'' look to it without the color on the sides like the Grus has,i remember there was this single battery mod.

All made in metal, single battery and with a high end feel to it even thou it's a medium range mod,for the love of me i can't remember which mod it was,i do remember it had ''steel'' in it's name,i think i am not sure.

It has a screw top for the battery like the Grus on the bottom and i think it had a black and white screen, apart from that i don't remember anything else.

If anyone has an idea of which mod it is please let me know, friend is waiting for me to send him some pics :)

    cheers

Yeah that's a bit of a bummer. I'm reluctant to get one now. I had enough of dodgy stuff...that's for sure.
