Update: I called the local wildlife rehab, because it didn’t seem normal for my furry apple thief to be out this time of day, and I wanted to ask if he might need assistance
She laughed, she’s been fielding ‘opossum up my apple tree’ calls for days. Especially the juveniles this time of year are out learning where there’s food. I asked if he’ll stick around now that he’s found a food source, and she said, unlikely, he’ll probably get sick of apples and move along to see what the neighbors are growing, and almost certainly find other apple trees too.
“If you see him on the ground, you can gently shoosh him out of the yard with a broom. At that age, if he sees you he’ll probably just sit and stare like a deer in the headlights.” Lol
