Well, the daily astronomy picture from Hubble, Webb, etc, disappeared in sept, now it's come back online. The message they posted wasn't clear whether it went away because of the shutdown or the huge cuts to NASA, guess it was just the shutdown. I clicked on it from time to time hoping for the best and a few days back it reappeared. And I have couple of month's worth to go through.

That's a way cool photo. I like checking out Hubble and Webb photos too.

The observable universe contains as many as an estimated 2 trillion galaxies. And more stars (and, potentially, Earth-like planets) than all the grains of beach sand on planet Earth.

I usually chuckle (silently, LOL) at those who have the arrogance to think we're the most advanced, and only intelligent, species in the Universe. We can't even take care of our own planet! <sigh>

Are we alone? The internet is awash with videos of scientists expounding on the Fermi Paradox. Some of them are fun and interesting. The more honest ones tend to start by mentioning that we have zero evidence to work with, BUT, here's what I think.

Are we alone? I don't believe we are, but yeah, no evidence. For me, it's just Common sense.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

And think about it, if you were a very highly advanced alien society, that has the capability to reach Earth, would you even show yourselves to human beings knowing how violent and destructive we are as a species? I wouldn't. But I sure as heck would send in AI controlled drones that move at astonishing speeds and change directions in a pico-second to freak humans out. LOL

With regards to the Fermi paradox; I think the distances are so vast that it makes visiting distance planets with life very difficult. Except for perhaps, the most advanced species. Earth is on one of the Milky Way galaxy's outlying spiral arms – the Orion-Cygnus arm, to be precise. Earth is sitting at a point roughly halfway from the galactic centre to its outer rim.

ETA: fixed spelling, LOL

I'm a bit in the dark today, last month was a record month for gadget gear purchases, but I have things on my list that will be available. The good news is that it will probably be available next month as well, and I don't know if there will be any black friday on something that has just hit the market...
