I have no idea if it works with whole tobacco leaves... never tried it. I have only used finely chopped commercial tobacco products.

Just for ease of use I'd imagine you would have to chop or shred the tobacco in order to soak it.

Do try it and let us know how it works :)

Will do! Vacation first, then time to play after that :)

hi scarf
just to let you know that I could not waite to try some .
put it in the sonic cleaner a few times to speed up aging ..
for the first one third I used two parts of the extract and one part vg .
for the 2nd part I used a 50 ..50 mix pg and vg
for the other third I used 48 mg nic pg.
so that cut my nic down to 16 mg and maybe a little if any from the xtract. so those are my ratios..
I was used to vape at 24 mg
so from you recipy I cut the flavoring by one third.
the flavor is insane !!! the best most satisfying vape I ever had !! cant get over how smooth and full flavored it is after only thre days.
not harsh at all with a hint of sweetnes ....it is black Cavendish . I am vaping it in a gennises type atty.which I can clean and or recoilpretty fast. not worried about clogging the device.
thanks again ....rolf
ps I worked out a better filter to

So you went with 22% flavoring if I understand correctly. Out of three parts to the recipe, only 2/3 of one part, or 2/9th's total, were composed of the flavoring agent, equaling 22%. How many grams per ml did you cook with, and what was the filter method you used?

hi aheadatime
scarf used one third of the recipy with the flavor extraction and I decided to cut that down .
I used 15 gram of tobacco with 70 ml of pg which yielded 50 ml . on one of the tobaccos just a hair less .
used lids on mason jars so I had no condensasion.
I used my redneck filter tryout posted in this thread look at pixture
after that same but better mechanical set up . still kitchen strainer with cheesecloth then 4 stages of natural coffee filters.

Sounds like a very thorough filter process lol. I consider myself patient after waiting for a one stage natural coffee filter. Did you apply any heat when filtering, in order to make the liquid filter through the cheesecloth/coffee filters faster?

View attachment 205650the top filter has more juce left then the bottom one so it is draining faster .so it is plugging faster on the first filter .I just heywired this tower together with plastic one glass wine bottles to see how it works . it does !!
I will try a tower with cut glas bottles , mre refined w slide out trays and not as tall . maybe enclosed with hair dryer ,sealed. for heat and pressure. you see scarf you created a monster !!! o ja if you brew 2 flavors you ned two tower !!

This is a brilliant filtering system. Multiple filter stages in one process. I will be adopting this in my own fashion when I do my next batch of NETs, for sure!

Thanks for this great piece of kit!

I finally was able to stop at the cigar shop after work, yeah! I got a Acid Blondie Belicoso and Java Robusto Maduro cigar. The owner was friendly and informative. Invited me to sit back, relax and smoke LOL. They have get togethers there so I'll get an invite. He did mention that they make and bottle their own energy drink, waayy too much sugar listed on the can. The name I did not like 'cause it's an offensive word for a female body part.
I also shopped at pipesandcigars.com and picked out a few ounces of tobaccos to try. Experimenting is half the fun. The other half is hoping it turns out alright!

I got into my cabinet today to see how all my aging extracts are doing, since it had been a while.

Organic dried blueberries--No good. Picked up a soapy flavor from somewhere and it's unpleasant and crudded up my coils. Damn.

Samuel Gawith Scotch Cut--A bright and peppy medium tobacco with a nice Latakia smokiness. You know Devil Dog by Ahlusion, the alpha and omega of strong manly tobaccos? This would be like Diet Dog.

Samuel Gawith Sam's Flake-- A Turkish/Virginia blend that I extracted a while ago, and it is kicking my hiney! Smooth with deep bass hints of cocoa and spice. Possibly my favorite of my current extractions.

Chopped ginger with vanilla bean--Delightful. Has mellowed a bit with time but still gives a nice spicy hit. Not too savory, thank heavens.

McClellands' Colombian Mocha--Beautiful deep Virginia with cocoa notes, but somehow less chocolaty than the Sam's Flake. Still really tasty.

T2 Sencha Quince--I will come out and say it: this is the best damn tea e-liquid I've ever tasted. Just right.

Breaking out the crock-pot tonight to cook some SG Three Cherries. I am excited for this one:)

I was going to filter my extractions but I did not add enough pg/vg vs tobacco. It's just wet LOL. So I added another ounce each last night and will zap and stir it later.

My order from seedman.com. arrived. The tobacco concentrates are nice, English, Capt Black, Virginia Fire Cure, Commercial and Light (can't smell anything in that one). Plenty to play with while waiting on my tobacco to arrive.

I also purchased a pack of smokes...American Spirit Perique Blend. It organic and I had a coupon so it only cost me $1 :p The store didn't sell the pouches so that why the pack.

It might be rubber glove time. :)

I thought of that but when I started to strain it the yield was only a few tablespoons. Poured it back in the jar (carefully scraping every drop back in) and added more liquid. The tobacco is now covered. I did not consider the tobacco sucking up all the liquid

I like the idea of using those disposable plastic glasses as funnels. Pretty crafty there, Rolf. I appreciate that sort of creative re-purposing!

I read this whole thread and could not find an answer to my question. Apologies if it's in there and I missed it.

This concerns only tobacco extractions.

When extracting tobacco flavor in PG , we know that + - 2% of nicotine gets in the extract. It seems that the WTA are not present in the extract.

Assuming one is buying some pipe tobacco or cigars. What are the risks that, if tobacco contains tar and all the other toxins we know are added to tobacco, something bad for our health ends up in the extract?

Sure, there is organic tobacco. But not readily available.

Anyone knows more than I do about this?

Thanks!

Thedesbois, that's not an issue that I feel qualified to address. My point of view is, it is tobacco SMOKE that has the most of the harmful effects. It stands to reason that vaping tobacco, while not risk-free, is quite a lot less damaging in the long run.

Sorry about the Habs BTW. :(
