Starter kit recommendations?

Hey all,

I'm looking to get my first starter kit. I think I have it narrowed down but want to check here before I throw down the money.

So far I'm considering going with either the Volt or Blu. I think I want an auto battery to start off with, and 2 piece cigs instead of 3 (seems like it'll be easier to just use the cartomizer, at least until I'm ready to experiment with new options). I see the volt's auto battery is sealed, not sure about blu's, so I shouldn't have the leak problems I've read about a lot since they're sealed, right?

Does anyone recommend something else instead? Maybe some nice sale going on I don't know about? Volt will come out to about $50 while the blue starter kits are more expensive but they do have the extra "neat" factor with the fancy boxes (I know I can get a charger box for the volts but I want to keep this as simple as possible, and Blu has them packaged to make it simple). This will be as an intro test for my fiance and I just to check it out and see if it's something we want to get into. I may get 0% nicotine or .6%, haven't decided yet :) We're former smokers but quit for a lot of reasons that don't seem to exist with vaping.

Thanks for any advice.

*edit* After a couple days of eye-bleeding-research, and comments in this thread, I've chosen the $50 Volt starter kit (6mg). Thanks everyone :)

I think the Volt is a better place to start than Blue, and I agree that a two piece with auto battery is good for a beginner. However, you do need to be careful when it comes to filling cartos and remember to never fill a carto while attached to the auto battery because if you overfill the carto you run a great risk of killing your battery .. this scares some ppl out of it but it should not, as proper handling is all that is required.

A sealed auto battery is more liquid resistant .. however, I have several unsealed batteries and no issues because I follow the above to a T ... there are auto battery haters out there, which is a matter of preference, but I for one started with manual batteries and presently prefer auto's by leaps and bounds.

Volt batteries perform great, and usually come off the charger at 4.2v and slowly decreases as the battery runs low, but I personally love the performance of KR8 batteries and horizontal bottom coil cartomizers ... Volt is a branded KR8 (Bloog is another branded KR8), so you can always save a few bucks and go with the original Kanger KR808d-1 starter kit which is basic black or stainless .... ( I do like the variety of colored batteries of Volt and Bloog )

Since you are undecided on nic juice concentrations ... start with 0mg, 6mg and some 12mg juice and work from there. If you find that your cravings for analogs are still strong, then look into juices with higher nic concentration, but beware of the very strong throat hit with high nic juice .... it's too much for me.

I do think I like the way the smaller e-cigs look. I'd also be interested in a larger, more cigar looking one. The look of a pack of black Blu e-cigs really appeals to me but I also like the look of the black volts. Seems like people think the Volt's a higher quality device so I'll go ahead and rule out the Blu.

As far as nicotine goes, I was originally thinking I'd go with 0% once I found that that was even an option, but the more I think about it the more I'm considering getting the 6mg (for a lot of reasons that are probably my old addiction talking to me, but hey, that's what addictions do :D)

So 2 piece cigarette looking device is what I'm looking for (and it looks like Volt's the way to go unless someone can recommend something else instead... I want to just order a starter kit that requires no figuring out or purchasing of extra juices, until I figure out if I'm interested in taking those next steps).

I recommend the vapeshot.com starter kit over the Blu. In my opinion, it has a better LCD and can be bought with a discount code. Blu doesn't really have too many discounts on the kits or cartos.

I've used several brands and out of all of the the vapeshot stuff has been delivered the fastest. Their customer service is INSANE too. I had a string of about 20 emails that were answered almost immediately by them (it was more a conversation about e-cigs than customer service requests).

They are limited for cartos right now, but their starter kit comes with more stuff and you should just refill anyway.

I got the kit here.

Their stuff is the most like an analog that I have seen, and it is all 510 style (male thread on cartos) so there is more compatibility if you upgrade later.

Is smokelessimage.com a registered supplier? I'd also like to go with a trusted source.

The vapeshot cigs look nice too but I'm leaning towards the volt due to the sweet sampler pack (and volt's $20 cheaper, I don't mind spending more money later but to test the waters, $50 is easier to swallow than $70, though you do get the PCC with the vapeshot kit).

Volt cigs are great, I would either recommend them or vapor4life. Vapor4life has some new kits now too and the 808 ego kit in green or pink may also interest you. Big NO to Blu!! lol

Vapor4life has regular sales, sign up for their newsletter or add them on facebook to find out their latest sale code.

Also here are 2 possible current coupon codes for smokeless image: VoltSave for 16% off, and EVAPE10 for 10% off. OR SIVOLT50 for 15% off. You can only use one, don't know which ones are currently valid, I was just googling lol.

Mate the Volt's a good choice.
I had one until a couple of months ago when I got really drunk and lost it at a pub.
I can tell you that even though there are many brands selling the same KR808D-1 device, both bloog and the smokeless image Volt have been tweaked a little and perform better. There are other good KR808D-1's around, but they're way too expensive for the same thing. One of the reasons why some people don't like the 808's, they must have been ripped off badly when starting out.

Go ahead and get the Volt, I too nearly fell for the sexy marketing blu cigs and that awesome charger pack, but they're viewed as pretty ordinary by most people who have tried them, which is why I went towards 808's.

So you don't smoke??? you don't need the nicotine. Plenty of zero nic juice around to refill cartomizers and keep your tastebuds happy, and if you find the throat hit lacking, a website called ............... sells something they call "flash" that boosts the throat hit without adding nicotine. I don't know if it sells anywhere in the USA, but it's something I found recently and it's cool.
Enjoy

vapor4life's kit comes out to $50 also. Which to pick! Volt has a sampler pack but vapor4life has a full list of flavors that all look amazing.

Any idea which company tends to ship out faster?

Both are very good compainies. You can't go wrong with either one, really. I order a volt for someone and it came quickly.
I dealt with CS for the V4L and they were extremely nice, very accommodating. Even changed out things in the kit. This was during the snowstorm last year and they went out of their way to make sure to get it out fast.

I've never heard anything bad about Volt- a minor miracle. I don't think you can go wrong with ordering from either company.

V4L has huge sales, check the Steals and Deals thread for discount codes.

After reading what you are looking for then I guess I would suggest the Volt due to reading about how a lot of people like them. But that being said I have been in your shoes I would like to be honest. My first PV was a 902 from Modern Vapor and I found that the battery life is very short and got tired of filling carto's all the time. I went through several PV's before I found the one that I will probably never let go of. If I were to give you an honest answer and have you go in the right directions to start out with I would say go with a PV that has a longer battery life and you can use a tank or a carto on it. I wish I had listened to my sister when she told me this but none the less you will go with what you feel comfortable with as well. I will post a few links that I feel are a good place to start. Good Luck in your venture.:vapor:

I don't know if I want the nicotine or not, but I do remember liking the buzz (which originally got me hooked) and I always felt I could think better after smoking a cigarette (even today I don't feel like I experience that same clarity, after 7+ years of not smoking). I don't drink much caffeine but I do drink a lot of alcohol (which I should probably quit doing, but there's some really clear reasons why). I'm trying to figure out if nicotine should be avoided in this case because of a particularly good reason or just because it's addictive. Again, this is probably my old addiction talking, but I'm just not seeing it as such a bad thing anymore (I'd have never quit smoking analogs if they didn't completely destroy my breathing capacity and I was able to smoke them inside the house without stinking up the place).

The halo cigs looked really cool but they don't offer a 0mg option it seems (which is still something I'm considering).

Both the volt and vapor4life kits have the 0mg option (unless I'm looking at the wrong starter kits!).

As for the trust thing, funny you'd say that because I had that same question in my first thread here. How do I know I can trust the seller to provide me with 0mg? At this point I'd really like a simple option to just purchase and try it out. I'm not sure what's involved in filling it up myself. I've read you can have a certain amount of each ingredient and different portions do different things, etc. This is all very interesting and something I'd like to learn if I stick with it but for now I really want a "plug and play" type option where I just purchase it and it's ready to go.
