News to me, this morning:
I feel like I should start a thread for this info,
new to me and
positive for once, but there have been SO many diacetyl threads and discussions... But I'd never seen this (my daughter found it) and I think it should maybe be circulated.
I've been chain-vaping for 3 years and have always been worried about diacetyl; I was under the impression that bronchiolitis obliterans was asymptomatic for a long time and of very slow onset, like 10 years. But, see the link below. In the famous popcorn factory incident NIOSH said this:
"Each of these workers first became symptomatic between 1993 and 2000, while employed by the plant,
after a median of 1.5 yrs of employment (range 5 months–9 yrs)"
We now have significant numbers of vapers who have been at it for 1.5 years or more (many more persons than worked at that plant) and no one has turned up with the illness. I understand that that's not conclusive, but my mind is easier - this has always been a 'time-will-tell' concern. I'm not suggesting that we should be unconcerned (many aren't, anyway) but for those of us that do worry, it's something to know.
Sorry to put this here, can't see where else; the health thread is in the community section and not sure that many people visit it? Or if anyone but me will find this of importance.
Mods, I'm at your command if this is misplaced.
