Wheeeeee!!!! :D

Good thing Octopus RDAs are cheap. I think I'm going to drill a second hole in the cap of this one for some more airflow.

You guys are not going to believe this. I BUILT A COIL THAT WORKS!!! For my Igo-L. I used the smallest rod (which is 1.22mm) that came with my Gizmo. I used 30ga Kanthal. 12 wraps. Used the strongest reading glasses that I have, which are still not strong enough to see. The coil came out to 1.6ohms and stayed there.

The problem is that I spent 30 minutes trying to put my wisp of cotton ball through that coil. I tried everything. I even went and got the needle threader thingy from my sewing box. No way was that cotton going to thread through that teeny, tiny hole. So I said screw it, and just took the cotton and gently wrapped it up around the coil and took a real tiny piece and put it on top of the coil and juiced it up. Still reads 1.6 ohm and I did not blow up so put the top back on, lining up the air hole to the coil.

I have been vaping my Caramel Pear Black Tea with it on my Provari Mini. It still reads 1.6ohms and I am vaping at 4.0 volts. I have been vaping it for the past 20 minutes. I do not know how long the cotton is going to last since it is not threaded through the coil. I hope I do not blow up my Provari.

It is vaping with no burning taste or dry hits so far. I am a happy camper! This is my first real try with the Artistic Wire Gizmo coil winder. It took me more time to get the end of the wire to stay put since DH did not have a screw and wing nut to hold the wire to start it. I wound that puppy up in no time. I am amazed at myself. DH is flabbergasted and speechless.

Yay Shari!!!

I'm fortunate (kinda) enough to have myopia, so while I can't see my hand in front of my face without my glasses, I can still see a coil at the tip of my nose...that's the only thing that made it possible for me to wrap nano coils on a paperclip :D

I found a certain amount of "yahoo" when I wrapped my own coil. The flavor from a dripper is second to none though :)

How do you get the cotton through the coil? I can not get it through the tiny tiny coil. I think I am going to wind another coil tomorrow with the next bigger rod and less wraps and see what I come up with.

That Gizmo device is amazing. I wound that coil in no time at all. And when I took it off and pinched it together with the tweezers and torched it with my bic lighter (yeah, I found one), it looked just like the ones on the youtube videos. Could have knocked me over with a feather.

I roll one the end of the cotton really small and thread it through. Then clip off the rolled end rather than fight it to spread out.

Way to go Shari!

Putting cotton under the coil is fine, particularly for a very small coil. I've heard it referred to as a "cloud" rather than as a wick, but that might have just been 1 guy on youtube.

As far as threading the cotton through, stretch out 1 end so it's very thin, then clip off the end of it (because that last tiny wisp always gets stuck on the coils). You should have a thin but reasonably rigid piece that will go through the coil. (I usually wet it by putting it in my mouth, and shaping it with my lips if that makes sense? Like you might do with a piece of thread before threading a needle?)

Congrats on your coil; here's to many more!

Congratulations Shari, I knew you could do it.

Sounds to me like you made a nano coil, maybe next time make one a tiny bit bigger.

I have no idea what size I make my micro coils, they are wrapped on a tattoo needle, but I am able to get the cotton in them with little trouble. I twist the cotton pretty tightly and pull it through, I don't twist the entire length of it tightly though but I do work it so all of it is about the same thickness and twist most of it loosely. After I thread it through and check that it will move back and forth without moving the coil I will snip off the tightly twisted threading end.

I started this in December and am just now getting consistent wicks so give yourself some time, it takes practice. :) As long as the wick is able to deliver the juice to the coil it doesn't matter whether the wick is on the outside or inside, it just needs to make contact and deliver the juice.

No need to worry about blowing up your ProVari, it won't fire if there is a short or if anything is wrong with the coil

A new wrinkle! Stress today, big time. Turned into a drive through for lunch and ate a caramel sundae. Never occured to me that I didn't want a smoke! It's not a great thing, but for me, it's a good thing.

Hey, does anyone want to share a success story? What makes it easier for you not to smoke? What do you do to distract yourself when the urge hits?

I almost hate to say this here but since I started using the RDA's and really satisfying juice I haven't had any urge to smoke, I get a serious urge to vape though. He smokes in front of me all the time and it just smells awful to me, I can't remember the last time I had a craving to smoke.

Congratulations to you for not smoking though. :)

Okay, I'm trying to still be able to fit in my car and not buy a new wardrobe. However, the occasional splurge does call for cheesecake!

Good to hear. And yes, I need lots more practice. This coil is not producing much flavor and almost no vapor. Like trying to suck an elephant through a straw. lol

I do roll one end of the cotton to thread. I have threaded a larger coil before. Evidently this one was a nano coil, or so I have been told. So today, going to use a bigger rod and play with placement of the coil on the deck of the Igo-L. I have to figure out how to do it so that I get flavor and vapor.

That Gizmo thingy is a miracle device though. I had more trouble getting the wire started than the winding of the coil.

I drip on my 510 atty. The rhythmical ritual action keeps my hands, eyes and senses occupied. I am consciously enjoying my vaping. I liken it to when I would purposely smoke a cigarette at a high time of stress and all I concentrated on was the smoking.

Vaping using a clearo or a tank or a carto is too mindless during a time of stress for me. You do that without thinking about so take it for granted. My dripping is a conscious effort and occupies my mind. Higher nicotine for that huge stress moment never hurts either. And a different juice than you normally vape. Although sometimes a favorite dripped will calm the storm.

Any activity that will distract my mind, change of environment. But that is not always possible. So it is the dripping for me.

Good Afternoon! I hope everyone is having a great day!

Went to hospital last night, nothing too horrible, my back was tied up in knots, Had to have some injections just Torodol and a muscle relaxer but it helped. Muscle relaxer made me very sleepy and I got 8 hours in!!!! Yay me, been a long time since I could do that!

Waiting for nephew to check mailbox to see if I got my Itaste VV V3, gave my others to roommate and a friend so I really would like that to come soon, I miss having that! I have to get an extender for the Provari mini, I am constantly changing the battery! Note to self, when I am in better financial shape, get a bigger Provari need to use it as 18650! (already have it lined up, just waiting on the cash!)

Too many contests?
You might consider a tablet. At least you can use that while sitting/laying in different positions.
