Net tobacco is the closest to actual smoking you can get. My cigarette tobacco extract is so close that you'll look for an ashtray ;)

Well that sounds great, I think. It's true that before I got sick, I was starting to move slightly away from tobacco flavor to a lot of different flavors, bakery and fruit flavors, but if I'm gonna get free of the real ones again, I need to substitute something that tastes similar, and gives me a similar feeling -- it's funny, I never noticed any particular feeling from smoking, at least not since I was 13 and still got head-spins just from lighting one up, but since I've been back to smoking, I've noticed, yes, there is an immediate feeling of some kind... It's not dizziness, I'm much too long-term a smoker to get that from my own cigarette, but it's something. A sense of relief, I think. It takes quite a while, in the morning when your blood nicotine is low-to-zero, to get that same sense of relief from vaping; I was having to vape 10.5mg, and do it mostly mouth/throat/nose, for about a half hour, to come anywhere close to that sense of satisfaction, relief, and maybe that is what is tripping me up now, my body/brain has rediscovered how easily it can get that feeling, from smoking. *sigh*

I'm doing a little better today, though. I may be able to stay *under* 10 cigarettes, which is moving in the right direction. :thumb:

The Plume Room has a Type M tobacco flavor that tastes very much like my Marlboro cigarettes used to taste and it was very ashy. That may be what you need right now, something like that. I was able to vape it in the first month or two of putting down the cigarettes but after that it got way too ashy for me. Good throat hit too. Do check out that NET thread. There are people there that do their own tobacco macerations. They can probably point you to what you are looking for. At least better than I can.

Also, do some reading in the DIY forum. Lots of tobacco lovers there so they can help you with what to do to your own mixes.

Well that's very nice of you, but I really am unfamiliar with any of them -- do any of them have that mild, smooth taste like Virginia tobacco? I say that I don't like "sweet tobacco," and that's very true, but it turns out that Virginia actually is just a tiny bit sweet, but the smooth savory notes overwhelm the sweetness by a considerable degree -- the sweetness is really just a *hint*, whereas other tobacco flavors I've tried started sweet, ended sweet, and left a sweet aftertaste -- ugh. I really like smoothness, but with a definite throat hit. I'm thinking that the mildness of the throat hit from these eRolls may be one of my problems, but if I try to vape from my kayfuns, I get the TH, but I also get the flavor very clearly, and at the moment that's not really a good thing.

I dunno; I've been leaving the kayfuns alone for a few days now, just using the eRolls to get used to the taste again; maybe it's time to fill the kayfun again and give it another try. I notice that the WTA Virginia seems somewhat less sweet than my own mix, so maybe I need to make the WTA Virginia about 50% of the total instead of only about a third.

I'm also thinking of other "additives" I might get, to make what I have a little better; I notice this stuff called "Flash" at ecigexpress, supposed to make the TH a lot more substantial. Also, was wondering about this "tobacco absolute" stuff, supposed to have a smoky taste, which might also help. Anyone know anything, personally, about those?

Thx!

Ashy would be good, but I never could stand the taste of Marlboros, just too sweet for me -- even the smell of them is sweet.

I learned a while ago that I can't really DIY anything like what I get from MFS, at least not with FlavorArt Virginia, it tastes like rotten celery. But I'm one of those people who just can't leave something the way it came -- my son says that's why I'm a good cook, I may use stuff like "hamburger helper" or "chicken helper," but only as a base, I have to customize it -- and Im the same way with ejuice, apparently. Primarily I had to start doing that because I need to stay between 7-10mg, non-standard strengths, so I figured while I was mixing 2 strengths of Virginia, let's just add a bit of this, and a smidge of that... thus was born my "old reliable." Adding 1/16th total volume Oak Barrel Cider, and 1/32nd total volume Cinnamon Redhot, brings out the flavors that are naturally in the Virginia, they're just very faint, and although it's such a small percentage, I think the Redhot may boost the TH just slightly -- and Killer-Juice's Redhot isn't too sweet, which is very much not the case with a lot of other Redhot flavors.

Anyway. I'd love to find a base Virginia flavoring that was similar to the MFS, and there are a couple at ecigexpress I'll probably try at some point, but for now I'm pretty much stuck with just customizing the MFS.

VAPER IN THE WILD ALERT !!!

The wild was my house. Had the cable guy out to check reception problems we have been having and dropped phone calls. He started working on the DVR and tv in the living room and saw my Provari Mini on the coffee table. He knew exactly what it was and that there was a R91 topping it off. First time that someone recognized I have a Provari.

Turns out he has been vaping for 8 months and went out to his truck and brought in his Magneto and Tobh atty. He is sub ohming at .6 and is making his own juice. We talked shop for 15 minutes or so, I gave him a little piece of rayon to try. He ended up fixing the rolling screen on DH tv in bedroom and we got 3 brand new dvr boxes. This cable company never gives out new equipment. They always give you used stuff. So today was a good day.

The kitchen cabinets got installed and look great. The granite guy came out and took the measurements and that is set for the 29th. So progress is finally being made.
how cool is that!!!! I have seen a few vapers on my trip, but one bunch ...... me off, we were at Kings dominion and in line for a roller coaster and they were blowing clouds all over the place (cloud chasers). enough that i could smell their vaper. I was vaping myself but was not being disrespectful. Even my sisters (whos husband vapes) said she did not understand why they were doing it....

Probably because idiots are everywhere. They're taking over the world, which is easy to see from how the gov't is carrying on about e-cigs. :D But in any case... there is always that 10% who screw up everything for everybody else.

I re-wicked my Mini PT IIs and ARO Pyrex with rayon... and now get flavor from them almost as good as from a kayfun, though granted, not as much TH as from a kayfun. But that rayon is the STUFF. :thumb:

Well, I just found this thread, and I'm glad, because I'm trying to taper-down/leave off the cigarettes for the 2nd time, but it seems much harder for me this time. Back in February it seemed like they just fell away, but now they seem to be dogging my every footstep.

I was 110 days smoke-free when I had to have an emergency appendectomy; that went great, thanks to the clear lungs, and I got to go home the same day. But the next 3 days, thanks to a long-standing case of IBS, were pure hell, at both ends. I didn't eat, vape, or even manage to drink much of anything that I could keep down, for about 4 days. When that was finally over, EVERYTHING tasted awful to me, including my much-beloved ADV Virginia. But at 115 days smoke-free, cravings were just slapping me around, so I smoked. That was June 22, and although I've been trying to vape for a couple weeks now, it still tastes a bit odd to me, and I'm still smoking, even though I don't really want to be -- it's like that giant bully in the tv commercial, bossing me around. :(

Andria, you poor thing that sucks.... I totally understand. I was down to 3 cigs a day and the stress of work got to me and I started to smoke more... then on vacation the social aspect of sitting around and visiting was so hard to do with OUT cigs. I sucked on vacation and smoked more than vaped. BUT am home now & setting myself back up on a schedule.
Dont be so hard on yourself. I find that when I beat myself up I smoke more... when I accept that it is ok and the one less I did not smoke is better, than I feel better about me.
not sure if you have read some of the posts in the thread but I know that some of us have mentioned the addictivness of cigarettes and it is more that a physical addiction, it is a mental one as well... its a security blanket, a best friend that you are saying good bye too.

I personally have not tried the NET juice, but i am thinking of trying some to help get me over that hump!
You did find the right place though the support and understanding in this group is beyond compare!!!

Well, yesterday I managed to hold it to "9" -- so that's ONE I did not smoke, for sure! :D I've got tally lists going back 3 wks now, and the most I've smoked in a day was 14... the least was 8. But I'm managing to vape more, and the "old reliable" is tasting more normal to me, so hopefully I can keep whittling away at them as I did the first time. :thumb:

Thx,
Andria

Darksparkle, I'm happy to hear you had a great stress free vacation and are climbing back on the vaping wagon. Glad you like the rayon I sent you. Maybe that'll help you cut back on the smoking. It really is good stuff.

You'll love Lox's Swedish Fish. He was pretty much the original creator of the flavor and set the standard for it.

Wow
I am so glad I found this thread.
I just made a request to the forum to actually open up a relapser's board. :D

But since I am here...
So I started vaping a little over two years ago. Went a full year without one cigarette. Was doing really good. Ran the whole spectrum from cigalikes to sub-ohming on mech mods. Even mix my own juice (though I am no cook).
I really, REALLY enjoy vaping. Everything about it. The flavor. The tinkering. The sub-culture. Everything about vaping, I love. And the more I vape, the more I want to vape. The more I vape, the less I want to smoke.
So what's the problem?

Well, to be honest, I think the answer lies in stress, as some of you have mentioned. No, I didn't deal with my stress in a proper way. I end up smoking. But one cigarette leads to two. Usually the second or third cigarette is the pass or fail for me. Often on the second or third cigarette, I go "ewwww", put it out and go back into vaping. But if I go past that. If I smoke past that, my vaping gear just sits there and starts collecting dust as I go back into FULL smoking.

Even when the stress subdues, or I start dealing with it properly, it is hard to get back on full vaping. It was so much easier the first time.

Be that as it may, I am not going to give up. Not just because I have a small fortune investing in ecig stuff. Not just because I "HAVE" to or that it is better for me. I actually love vaping. And I loved being a full-time vaper.

But I do find this thread encouraging. I keep saying vapers need a place like this. When you don't really see all the other people also struggling, you do feel alone and like a failure. Because on all the groups on FB and everywhere it's all "YAY I AM NEVER EVER SMOKING A NASTY CIGARETTE AGAIN."
And I am happy for these people. Don't get me wrong. I WAS one of these and hope to be again. But it is also nice to be in contact with those who say, "yeah, I slipped up a bit myself."

Thanks for listening, fellow vapers. :D
I appreciate ye all.

Yeah it's hard when everyone is all "ooh they're so awful" but in your heart of hearts, you REALLY WANT ANOTHER of those awful things. It makes you feel like, what the hell is wrong with me to want these awful things?? It's completely irrational, which I guess makes it an addiction. I've got lots of those, and so far have vanquished every one -- except for this one, though I had a pretty good start on it, at 110 days, before my $#%&$!!! appendix decided to throw a fit.

But when I do manage to get smoke-free again, I think I'll treat it the same as my sobriety; I have no idea if I'll drink or want to drink tomorrow, but today, I won't drink. Somehow that has worked really well for me, for almost 22 yrs now -- Aug 14 will be 22 yrs -- so maybe it's a good attitude to adopt with smoking, just "not smoking today." I've heard a lot of recovering alkies say that in the beginning, they had to take it one-quarter-hour at a time. :D Maybe that could work for me. ;)

Welcome Timothy,

You've been around vaping a lot longer than I have, so I'm sure you've seen the same thing: the thing is, those people who say they're never going to smoke again? They're not fortune-tellers. Or psychics. We all have that feeling, when we first quit, that we're never going to pick one up again.

Problem is, a lot of us do. More than it seems.

Better to focus on staying quit (or quitting again) than to worry about what someone else says they'll never do. Because they don't really know that. You know that saying, pride goes before a fall? Yeah, that.

Glad you found us!

Hi Timothy, welcome to the thread. Glad you found us. Yeah, it is easy to say you will never have another cigarette. A lot of people tell themselves that because they have to to get through the day or get to a point where they really believe it. I do believe I will not have a cigarette ever again, but it is more out of stubbornness than being 'cured' or any such thing.

I do believe that the addiction to smoking is very similar to alcohol. For me, smoking was my best and sometimes only friend. I still find myself automatically going to the thinking about a cigarette place when I am under a lot of stress, even after a year of not smokitng. The difference for me today is that I can take that thought of having a cigarette and look at it like an out of body experience and examine it.

That is today. Tomorrow I may not be able to do that. Thaya and I say that we are one cigarette away from smoking a whole pack. It has only been the last few months that the thought of cigarettes has not been part of just about every one of my days. You will get there again. Just stop letting the thought of smoking take up any more of your time. Little by little, and having a place here to vent helps.

I read what I wrote above and it does not sound very helpful. I am sorry, but you have been around vaping and smoking long enough to not have to guild the lily. A lot of people give up the power of their thoughts and allow a thing to consume that most precious commodity, their thoughts. I find keeping crazy busy and vaping higher nic juice and just plain old stubbornness got me through a lot of those very long moments.
