LOL! I just had the exact same experience with aspirin. Up and down the "pain relief" aisle, a thousand different types, but no aspirin.

Was on the bottom shelf in the facing aisle, next to the rubbing alcohol (right below the leeches and lycopodium powder).

:lol::banana::w00t::thumbs:

I grew up back in the dark ages when aspirin was all they had!

I never heard of using cheesecloth but it sounds good to me.

The thing a jig does is make it easier to wind a tight coil since it helps hold the wire while you are wrapping, without it I find myself wishing I had a few more hands. lol

It doesn't matter how pretty it is as long as you get the ohms you want and it works. :)

The only cotton I have experience with is cheesecloth. It's woven like gauze but really loose, so you can pick it apart rather easily. Boil first, pull strings apart, spin together to make a wick, and go. It's like $3 for a couple yards, it's available at the grocery store, and it tastes pretty darn good after the 1st few hits. Don't try to dry burn it though!

I actually prefer the taste of cotton, but the silica wick is so cheap I bought a huge amount of it when I bought my kanthal, so depending how much time I have, I alternate between the two.

SHARI keep practicing winding coils by hand, it gets easier and there is some muscle memory involved. I have faith you'll figure this out! I quit using the screw/drillbit, never tried a jig. I'm not going to win any awards with my coils, but I don't care, they vape just fine and haven't blown anything up yet, so it's all good.

You must have an upscale Walgreens. Mine does not have organic cotton balls. This is a town of over 30k people 35 miles south of Nashville. I might as well be in the Amazon jungle. Ridiculous. I am wasting more money on gas driving around looking for stuff normal people buy every day. I must be having a bad day. Tomorrow will be better.

Lol, try being in a town of 1400 and not even having a drug store. If you can't get it at the dollar store or a small hardware store it better be online

I am having trouble getting started on the rebuilding. I can not seem to get my hands to work with small pieces of things. But I am determined. I did try to rebuild an evod head twice, once at the vape meet and then again at home to fix the mess I made the first time. I find them too tiny and they are so cheap that the aggravation for me to take them apart and struggle to put all those little pieces back together is not worth it for me. I would rather spend a dollar each and then be done with it.

The Igo-L I have is a bit larger, but still pretty small. But I think I will be able to train my hands and fingers to work on it. A friend made me a 2.2ohm coil with a cotton wick and the taste is amazing, better than my 510 attys that I drip into. And I can put 15 to 20 drops in it at a time. An ocean of juice!!!

So I am going to buy a roll of 30ga kanthal and find some sterile or organic cotton and get one of those Gizmo jigs and keep at it until I get it right. So what if it takes me a couple of months to make a good coil. In the long run it will be worth it. Just have to make up your mind that you are going to give it a go.

If you're building micro coils the 30ga should be fine, if you have trouble with that being too small try 28ga with a 3mm wick. When I rebuild later today I'll take a shot of my coil on an Igo-w

That is very nice looking!
Almost worth learning how to rebuild.

Shari - have you considered their pre wrapped wicks? It's not ideal, but I keep seeing good reviews and other posts referencing that's what they are using. Like I said, not the first choice but for <$5 could come in handy.

Top, as long as it's warm on your island I am SO there! We have another ice/snow/mess heading our way. Our town is right on the fringe where they can't decide if we'll get 1/2 inch or a whole inch, so joyous. When is spring coming?

Still not doing well, smoked yesterday morning, thought about it all day. It's like being on a diet. Once you cheat it's over. Me and my bright ideas. . .but I'm still on the wagon, just left the store and the thought didn't even occur to me to buy a pack. Once I buy a pack I'll consider myself officially off the wagon again. This time around is about the 8th attempt to quit, still not the longest I've stayed quit. Once past a year I'll probably be more comfortable, if I can just exercise a little self control.

Hope you're all doing well! I'm hanging in there and reading a lot, just not posting much. Try to do better in future, but for today, no apologies. See you later.

You must be about as far north as I am. We just got more ice and snow the last 2 days

Shari from what I've heard 28g is better for a larger atty like the Igo-L and you don't need as many wraps to get the ohms you want while 30 g is better for ProTank, Evod, T3s etc. heads. Also I'm pretty sure most people are ordering that coil jig from Amazon.
That coil your friend made you should last a while and it's good practice to rewick it gets your hands into the mode of the whole thing. Rewick and dry burn the coil every time you rewick, my wicks are lasting a couple of days at most. The coil could last quite a while, possibly a month or more.

Claudia, that's exactly what I use, on 3mm ekowool I only need about 4-5 wraps and I am around 1.2-1.4 ohms which is great on my kamry

A diet? YIKES. Diets don't work IMO. I have to do something because of a bigger goal, feeling healthier as an example. Lifestyle changes. That's been my approach. That's why I have so many batteries, mods and now focusing on eliquids. It's gotta be ready to go with no fuss, i.e. more convienent than buying a pack - which is a bit of a challenge in this rebuildable world lately. But that's what keeps me vaping. The WTA is invaluable in my arsenal also. Maybe it's time to throw that in again??? Did you drop your nic level or maybe you could keep a higher level around for the rough spots???

I'm really just brainstorming here. Anxiety, stress, anger, pain are all -> smoking for me. A laugh, I recently broke down and got some Pluid. Holy cow that stuff is strong. I can't vape it for a long time but it does cut the urges down. I think about any in your face type flavor might work to take the edge off. Although WTA still works better. Like I said, just brainstorming. Be kind to yourself.

Oh yea - patience. I'm still working on taking a decent pic. At least this shows more detail. Still haven't gotten the nack of it.

I keep thinking the same thing. I save all my burnt out heads in labeled little ziplock bags too. Between DIY juice, and DIY coils, there would be more money for cool mods!

That's pretty much what I do. When I get a new Atty I keep all the spare parts in little dime bags from the craft aisle in Walmart.

My wire costs under $10 for a 10 meter spool and the wick is about $8 for a meter so its worth it for me to just rebuild

There is the coil I just wrapped for my igo-w. Nothing pretty but it get about 1.3 on the meter and is about 2 inches of wire and wick total with the wick doubled over.

It would already be on my device but a friend just called with a couple micro coils for me to try... might be switching to them very soon lol

good afternoon! I hope you all had a great day today!

Shari, I am just under the weather from the constant changes of temperature, it's mostly arthritis and nerve damage that causes the troubles.(at least, that's what I think it is)

Everybody sounds like they are getting these coils, I have the Artistic wire jig thing but I have not tried it yet. Soon enough!

I think my next order from FT is going to be all the different protank and evod heads. Ugh, but eventually something will work.

I use their evod heads a lot. I buy the multicolor 10-packs (and my daughter steals all the good colors)... I've learned to love lime green and mandarin orange, sigh.... They are very serviceable, aren't the greatest at vapor production but we all use them a lot.

As for the (mini) protanks:
I liked this one, but wasn't sure if the tank was actually glass (At the least it has a plastic coating on the outside). Does have a removable drip-tip, which is good; I'm not crazy about the metal tip it comes with:
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1494100

These 2 I got in the same order, and I can't tell which is which:
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1424416
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1479504

The one I've been using has kind of weird threads - they're very short, so it only goes on about a turn or so. Also, the drip tips aren't replaceable, and because they're fairly massive, the head tends to vape "cold" to me. I was surprised at how long the mini-protanks are - kind of like having the empire state building on top of your mod.

I was surprised, but I really do like this one:
https://www.fasttech.com/p/1490700

It can be a real bear to get it unscrewed, but I think it gives a great flavor!

I wouldn't be able to tell the difference between the ones you posted either. Good to know about that vivi tank. It was on my wishlist (which is about 7 pages now). There's a FT thread on ECF and I've gotten a lot of good reccomendations there; stuff I missed and I'm addicted to checking it daily.

I bought the aluminum hypertank from FT and compared it with the black chrome I got stateside (authentic) and FT's is better. No leaks. Protank coils fit perfect (genuine). There's only a $1 difference between them (and 3 weeks) but I'm getting another through FT. Some of their stuff is better. They have a clear one that's gotten thumbs up and on my must have list. I vape a lot of tank killer liquids.
https://www.fasttech.com/products/1411/10006479/1536500-rg400-bottom-coil-glass-clearomizer-4-0ml

But figuring out heads is a nightmare - that's not just FT though. You know there are at least 4 variations of genuine Kanger protank heads? Aarrgghh. It's not like Kanger announces when they make changes. That's what I mean by "getting Kangered", i.e. a new verb IMO. It makes buying genuine useless. I give up and I tried. Lesson learned.

;) Actually I'm pretty deep south, midlands of South Carolina. We rarely have snow so it shuts everything down. I want the 70'F back like I had last weekend!!!

Yep, diets suck and so do cravings. It's all mental, I'm going through a rough time AGAIN without my best friend, so it's probably a little rougher than it would be with my old friend. It's all going to work out, I am NOT giving in this time, I seriously can't afford to smoke. I need to invest in some WTA again, that stuff rocks. It'll have to wait until tax refund time, though, so for now I'm still using my 24mg handmade liquids and white knuckles, with the occasional Newport thrown in just to screw everything up! So complicated. And yes, I think I need some tobacco flavors again. I'll go dig through the steeping box and see what's hiding in there that I haven't gotten burned out on yet. Thanks for your suggestions!

Speaking of paying more and getting less, I bought a "Kanger" MT3S from a local b&m a while back. Turns out it was the same damn thing I had bought from FT and paid a third of the price. Unless Kanger changed the mouthpiece of the MT3S to clear, then I'm completely off base, but I thought the mouthpiece was black. Anyway, beggars can't be choosy and I had broken my last one so it was an emergency. Have quite a few in the cart at FT for a pre-emptive strike against the next emergency.

Had to leave work early today due to after-school activities being cancelled. School and work are called off for tomorrow. Did a little cleaning around here and watched a lot of TV, with more of the same tomorrow. We'll be covered in ice, not too much fun to play in, and praying not to lose power/water again. Hope you're all staying warm and dry out there, and be safe!
