Good morning everyone! Mood much improved after a good night's sleep. No harm was done to any children in the making of this post.

We are busy busy busy today at work, so I might not be able to stalk as much as normal. Hope you all are safe with all the storms and tornadoes and lions and tigers and bears, oh my!

Karen you and me both on the list making! My tax refund is winging it's way to my bank account and I've already spent it at least 3 times in my head. I'm being fiscally responsible this year, paying bills and fixing the damn car. So the shopping is going to be curtailed, but the amount of money I'm NOT going to pay bills with each month will certainly get put into the vape budget. Mama needs a new Vamo! :)

OK, some very happy vape mail on the way and I wanted to share...

Today I picked up a shiny new, albeit kinda stinky, digital multimeter and set up an order from my fave vendor.

The order includes:
A Caravella clone in brass

A mod case that should hold all my gear quite easily in a single case (no more pocketing my mech!)

An Igo-w3 (5 post version, I see quads in my future lol)

And a jade green drip tip

Now I just can't wait for the mail to get here, gotta find out what quads do to the resistance lol!

We gotta do something to get this group a little more active, although I know most of the regulars have other significant distractions.

So, here goes.

Although I didn't need another mech mod, I just couldn't resist this one:

And I had to get something to match:

https://www.fasttech.com/p/1481010

Don't know what's wrong with me. I scratch my head at "Give me your girly....." but I bought this stuff JUST for how I think it will look!

(Not to dis "Give me your girly..", and I looked through that whole darn pinterest, too!!!! Took me over an hour, and I still have to go back and revisit some of them!!! Thanks, aik (said with muted sincerity!))

The worst for me is that the other people I've got into e-cigarettes need new batts, and although I ordered them a long time ago from FT, they are stuck in a hole. All the stuff I ordered after that is already here. Damn. Except for the atty's that JJ made me realize I didn't have any of (the Kayfun/Rocket/Russian styles) and those look like the ones I really should be coiling on since that's the general type of atty I use the most, EVOD, on steroids.

I'm hoping that as the weather gets warmer, everything will pick up again. It's been a long, hard, winter. I hope that spring brings new life to all the things I cherish.

I'm taking that step into Genesis style!

A Smoktech RSST followed me home with some SS mesh :D

Jim,

I'm very eager to hear your experience with the RSST. I've gotten a couple cheap genesis knockoffs from FT and my initial experience (although I haven't played with them anywhere near enough!) was a bit frustrating. The first time, I tried to wind my coil around the SS wick, which resulted in major shorts (my gen is not insulated on the wick hole). I also was very confused about how you fill it, since you can't unscrew the tank without removing the coil and all the knurled posts on the top. (My bad, you fill it by removing the screw from the other hole, and fill it through that).

I did get my second attempt to work much better, winding the coil around a form, and then inserting the rolled SS wick through it. But it always tasted very very harsh to me. I have meant, for quite a while (well, a couple weeks maybe) to go back and try it with another wick, either hemp twine or cotton, but haven't done that yet. In further reading, I might not have treated the SS mesh like I should have (did a burn, but not a cold-water quench).

I know a lot of folks love the RSST, and what I have worked with are a couple of the cheap Chinese knockoffs (in the hands of a rank amateur!) so I'd be very interested in how you like it!

I think the thing that sold me on the RSST, and the staffer at the B&M agreed with me, is the center post is spring loaded. You're not fiddling with a thumbscrew or worse, a phillips head while trying to wrangle kanthal. You trap the wire with one screw, then wrap it, and trap it with a spring-loaded washer. Seems easier for clumsy fingers like mine.

I just got done rolling my first SS wick, and reaching for my kanthal to wrap it. I think I'll torch the wick just once more to make sure it's good and oxidized though. Let's see if I can get a first try success :)

Best of luck with it. I have a very lonely Genny cuz I can't get my coil to pulse right and keep popping the wire every time I coil the silly thing.

Still trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong there.

Looks like I'm in the same boat - just popped a coil on my K100 after fiddling with what looked like a hot spot from what I've seen in the videos.

Before pulsing it, my MVP read 3.3 ohms on a 3/4 wrap. Teeny kanthal, so I think I might have to do a 2/3 and dry burn it on the MVP where I can control the power.

SS wick, success first time.

Coil 1, me 0 :D

Try the video on the aga-t by pbusardo, he breaks down wrapping the ss mesh with 32 ga kanthal

I did it!!!!

The top and bottom were going about 75% of the way around, then I bumped the middle really gently with my screwdriver, and I have a slight glow on the entire coil. It didn't pop!

It reads 3 ohms on the MVP, and it takes a second or so to light up. Looks like my first try was pretty good, took about 3 attempts at coiling. I think with the 3/4 wrap that I think looks good, I better go a bit heavier kanthal.

I snapped a pic with my phone, so I'll put it up with Tapatalk in a second.

The draw was way too tight, almost like 2 minutes for an analog break so you have to bite the filter and suck it down tight. Out came the drill

1/16" (the smallest bit in the set that's not MIA in my messy garage) is a bit airy with my Octopus, but it's absolutely perfect on the RSST. I did about a 3/4 fill with what's looking to be my ADV, MBV Cinnamon Roll, 18mg. 9 watts on my MVP, and it really brings the flavor out. I might drop down to 8-8.5 and it should be just about perfect.

I think I found my favorite atomizer!!

The build wasn't horrible. Get your SS wick as tight as you can so it slips in the wick hole, then make a hook with the kanthal and trap it in the screw on the deck. I did a 3/4 wrap with some spacing, and it went straight across to the center post. The spring and washer make trapping it a breeze, even with chewed up fingernails...mine are almost non-existent. I'm glad I didn't go with one that has the knurled washers. They look like a pain in the .... to work with. Straighten out a paperclip and slip it inside the SS wick when you wrap. Just a bit of insurance. Pull it out before you dry burn it though...I almost forgot :D

Anyway, I pulsed it with my K100 and just nudged one of the center wraps, and it lit up all the way up and down. Dripped some juice to make sure it vaped, then squirted some juice in the hole that has the silicone plug to fill the tank.

Hello from the most awkward device to type on. The iPod Touch. Tapatalk and I are making friends right now. The IT guy is on vacation so I'll be sans desktop for a couple weeks at least.

JJ sent me a bunch of DIY goodies so I'll be mixing this weekend for sure. Bye bye flavor rut hello new vapes! Hope you all have a fantastic night, talk to you tomorrow.

So, my nephew came over with a gift for me, a Trident Clone and a Private V2, what a pretty set up! With no clue, I will be forced now to learn some stuff. LOL

I will have to finally step into the Coil Zone! Heaven help me! If I fail, the pre-made at Fasttech come in 1.8 and 2.0 which is best for that setup.

Sweet, gonna have to try that with my my aga-t when I get done with my nano coil adventure.

Just remember, if you have smaller wire and also have a drill and needle-nose pliers you can twist it into a larger gauge wire. See rip trippers on the twisted 28guage coil for the twisting method.

Best of luck.
