Note, your meter might read the length of your legs if you did not trim them before testing, which I don't. They should only add a tenth of an ohm or so anyway

When I checked the resistance on the coil I built for my Octopus, there was about 1/10 ohm difference between legs on and trimmed. I didn't trust my mounting, so I measured before I clipped
I'm drooling over a Smok RSST RBA...one might follow me home with some SS mesh, more kanthal and maybe some Ekowool tomorrow. I blame ECF!![]()
Another note since he is diabetic, and like most, I assume he likes deserts and sweets. If he can convert to vaping, he can have all the desert he wants and none of the sugar that can cost him more toes... much easier to walk that way lol. Also, juice has been known to be flavored with both stevia and maltodextrin/maltodextrose neither happen to affect the body the way sugar does.

Now as for "etheralink" comments I am in agreement about almost everything said except for . . .
This is up for discussion - again I am not at a computer to point to articles and or information - and the jury is still out on this . . . These products can affect/effect diabetic's A1c count . . . Also - I still contend that it is much better for any one diabetic to stay away from "E-Liquids" with any type of sweetners or subsitute sweeteners added - NOT GOOD . . . I have even mentioned it in a couple of other post in the old thread/a blog of mine/and in other threads discussing the same issue too . . . Be very careful . . . Just Sayin' . . .
There is so much I want to respond to, however I am Bio teen" (?so) a computer and stuck using a tablet right now so I cannot type as quickly or constantly as I would like . . .especially about the discussions concerning medicare vs medicaid, but most of it I totally agree with and "akeana" (? Sp) has been on target . . .

BTW: I take 2 water pills a day for same reason (to avoid possible ambutations) - Word to wise - "Bioteen" (?sp) for dry mouth / lemon water rinse helps . . . Just Sayin'
OH YEA - I AM NOT A DOCTOR OR MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL - THIS INFORMATION IS FROM "My" PERSONAL EXPERIENCE & KNOWLEDGE . . .
OK, it had been a long night at work and maybe I didn't make that part clear. I am not suggesting that a sweetener be added after purchase of the liquid (not to say that it might not be added when its made if a commercial liquid) I was rather suggesting that things like key lime pie (a rather sweet dessert) can be vaped with minimal impact vs eating the dessert continually for most of the day (Not sure I made it clear as it was in my head that time either).
As far as the conversation on stevia, maltodextrin and etc and the impacts on diabetes I would be interested in seeing that thread as I know a few diabetics who currently use such as sweeteners.
And yes I agree totally that anything that would have a negative impact on someone's health in anything more dangerous than a common cold is nothing to toy with, after all for many of us that is why we turned to vaping to begin with.
(Edit - delete redundant information in post )]
You're right, Uncle, Biotene is very good at keeping one's mouth moist. There's also these:
Amazon.com: Halls Refresh Mouth Watering - Lemon Raspberry - 2 flavors in 1 Drop: Everything Else
These are readily available in Canada, and they're something I swear by, and keep at least one pack of in my purse. They seem to be reasonably priced on Amazon, and might be worth considering, if you want to try them. (They are sugar-free, and only 3 carbs per drop.)
Especially "like" the Sugar Free "Honey & Lemon" . . .
And - I blame it on the tablet & ECF for the double post . . . First off Shari, my condolences on the condition of your friend, don't worry about dilution yet though. From experience, everyone I have helped get to vaping has had that same cough, as did I.
For 99% of them the cough was gone and in about a week they were already breathing better. Consider the nic rate though. Unless he was smoking non-filtered cigarettes, you can figure on about 1mg/analog and that's what I tell people starting out. An average pack a day smoker will do fine on an 18mg liquid (BTW, 1.6ml @ 18mg is close to a pack and a half of analogs mg for mg as far as nicotine goes).
The bit about the heavy cough, IMO, is breaking up the mucus in the lungs which holds a major amount of the tar and chemicals. What I would suggest about that is having VG not water handy and dilute (approx 10% at an attempt) to find something he can vape without hacking like crazy. He may end up nearly 100%vg for a while, which will lower the nic content (see ejuicemeup calculator for more info) but hr doesn't need to know that yet. Also another plus is that with CHF (which took my Dad), the coughing can be a good thing as long as its productive and isn't too violent as to jar the heart too much (ie: car-crash).
Also, the pg is hydrogenic (right word I think, meaning that it draws water in, hence early vaping cotton mouth. Just don't let him start chugging water to make up for it.
As always, follow the drs orders unless the dr is an idiot and watch for the obvious warning signs, mainly:
* Very shallow or labored breathing while resting
* A gurgling or rattling while breathing which can indicate fluid on the lungs
* Pitting edema, or fluid retention normally found in legs from the kneed down that when pressed with a finger DOES NOT refill to normal appearance in a timely manner (in a few seconds)
The second of these the cough can actually help by breaking up and removing the fluid on his lungs naturally and the lasix will help with the edema but the labored breathing at rest, especially with elevated heart rate would make me more concerned. There are many treatments for fluid retention and drs have even taken over 9.5 liters of fluid off my 120lb wife post childbirth!
Tell him from a fellow heart patient that vaping may be hard for a week but to start slow and mouth-hit the Atty and inhale after, as it will tame the pg some, and that it is worth his life to at least try (see my signature for all the 4,000 reasons he may need.
Another note since he is diabetic, and like most, I assume he likes deserts and sweets. One last thing, if he wants to know if its going to work, tell him that a genuine hero (sorry about the bragging, just sometimes it comes I'm handy lol, god forgive me) gave you the extra advice on it.
Here's the link if he wants to know how I'm a hero: TRAGEDY IN WAKE OF MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT | Disclosure News Online
By the way, he survived, kept the use of both arms and is currently in rehab to learn how to to walk again with a prosthetic, and yes, the biker was drunk and crossed the center line. It was the same kind of logic I told Dan that night on the road that kept him calm until the ambulance got to the scene and finished what I started with a tourniquet to save his life. I spoke to him personally this month... no compliments please, not said to brag.
Best of luck with your friend, let me know if I can help.

Sir - I fully understood your original post . . . However, I strongly desagree with your comments and assertions concerning the injestion of these sweetners/subsitutes. Any and all "E-Liquids" that contain ANY FORM OF SWEETNER or SUBSITUTE needs to be considered by a diabetic before injesting the vapor - particularly to their cause and effect. AND - Matter of fact - As a diabetic and someone who does use certain sweeteners/subsitutes regularly in extreamly limited quantities also - I have been doing a lot of research concerning this issue.
When I get to a real computer - I will follow up by posting information that is needed here. If you cannot wait, I suggest that you take the time to look up some of "My" earlier post and/or the blog where I already have some of this information posted as I mentioned.
We had big thunderstorms and straight line winds and tornado warning earlier tonight. Computer had been down for hours. Hope everyone else in the path is ok. I think we are fine. Will check roof tomorrow.
Thank you for the info. I am just waiting for him to come over to sit down with me so I can show him how to vape and he can taste juices and I will fix him up with a bunch he can take home. Will dilute with vg. He does want to get to 0 nic quick so I will not give him anything over 6-12mg and some plain vg so he can dilute more at home if he chooses. Hope he does show up and do this. Time will tell.
I can not tell his symptoms and he says little to me cuz I am like big sister and he does not want to hear it. So I have to be careful to explain to him so he can monitor himself properly. Rather than ask me for help, he was going to just go buy a Blu. He slipped and mentioned it to me. So I have to tread slowly so I do not scare him off.
That story on the link you posted sent shivers up my spine. On a Mother's Day weekend back in the late 90s I was driving my Civic and a motor cycle sped past me on a merging freeway and clipped a road sign. He had to be going 60mph. He flipped off the bike and the bike kept flipping. I almost hit him and then the bike just missed my windshield, airborne. I stopped and ran into middle of highway. No one was stopping to help. Long story short, I made sure he was ok and then stopped all traffic on freeway. He survived. I had nightmares and could not drive on freeway or near a motorcycle for almost a year. You did a brave thing. I am glad your biker made it too.
hi everybody! nothing new, I am still waiting for SS to call me. I hate the wait. Meantime, I am making lists of things I have to address with doctors. things I need. things I want LOL
I am glad that you are finally getting to make lists of things you will actually be able to get addressed or obtain. Those are good lists. I wish I knew why everything the govt does takes so long. If free enterprise ran this way we would be in big trouble.
