My tobaccos are all 70pg/300vg, I am playing with 70/30, 60/40 and 50/50. I can't go below 50/50 cuz the vg gives me a heavy chest and not good for my breathing. I am a boring coil winder. I do not do dual coils. I use 28ga and 30ga kanthal, more 30. I do have some twisted ribbon but do not have a clue what to do with it. lol
I vape between 1.4 to 2.0ohms coils on my Provari Mini. I have been ending up with coils around 1.7 to 2.0 ohms the last month or so. I usually run at around 3.6 to 4.2 volts, the higher for the tobaccos.
So boring coils and narrow range for my vaping. I am using CVS sterile cotton and I tried the rayon and put it aside for now.
I guess I'm boring too, then; I always do coils somewhere between 1.6 and 1.9 Ω, and usually run whatever mod I'm using somewhere between 7 and 9.5 watts, depending on time of day and how my asthma is at that moment -- if I'm not breathing well I can't handle throat hit, though that's my favorite part! But the great thing about vaping to me -- well aside from getting rid of cigarettes! -- is that I can customize it that way, and even have different ejuices with differing amounts of TH, so I can still vape even *IF* I'm not breathing too well -- I just don't inhale, if the lungs are being finicky.
I can't stand dual coils, they're just too hot, and ruin my delicate-tasting Virginia something awful. I was using organic cotton, and the taste is really good, but cotton is such a huge PITA to get the right amount; I still use it in my RSBT because that tank is so prone to leaking, but for all my other tanks I use rayon/cellucotton, because it's a lot less finicky about that mystical "right" amount. At some point I might try that japanese KGD cotton, it's supposed to be really excellent, but it's kinda pricey, so that can wait.
I suspect it makes me an even more boring coil-builder that I really don't care at all for compressed, "micro" coils. They seem to really concentrate the heat, which for my style of vaping is not really a good thing; I don't cloud chase, in fact I really can't handle high-VG "clouds" at all, they choke me and irritate the asthma, so extreme heat isn't something I want -- as you can easily tell by my usual wattage range. I have sometimes gone as high as 10 or 10.5 watts, but it's rare. Extreme heat also wears out wicks a lot faster, though rayon does seem a great deal more heat tolerant than cotton, perhaps nearly as much so as silica.
Guess I'm just one of those boring ex-smokers who'd really like to continue being an ex-smoker, and I don't need fancy builds or monster clouds; I started building my own coils mainly out of curiosity, because I heard that it really improved the vaping experience, and also to save money, because buying all those replacement coils all the time was for the birds!
