Did you boil it broken down with seals all still in and the clear tank part too?

Quite a while back I soaked a r91 in 91% isopropyl alcohol and it crazed the clear tank (then it cracked on the first tank of juice). Duh on me.

I got that with the last KFL+ clone I bought, even after the hot soapy water. I finally boiled mine for about 15 minutes, then rinsed and rinsed and rinsed... and then it tasted fine. :)

Wow, thank you so much. I am so new at this that I did not even know about the flavor percentage tab and what it can do. I have just be making CPBT version 1,2,3,4,5.... and so I am getting totally confused. I will have to try to mix up something, maybe this weekend and see how it works.

My CPBT tries are so out of whack that I am going to have to start back at the beginning. I think I am going to taste the flavors in water like Aik said and see what they taste like. So far I have just been playing with the 3 flavors but I feel it may need a touch of brown sugar extra that I have. We will see.

I should probably drop the CPBT for now and play with the ry4 double, since I think this tobacco will be easier for me to make into something I can enjoy. I read about all the TFA tobaccos and bought a 30ml of the ry4d so I must have had a reason to not pick up the Asian. Can not remember it though.

My son and wife and new grandbaby are coming out from Seattle to visit on 4/17 so I have to make sure I have nothing out the little one can get into. I may not play until after they leave just to be sure I do not miss a little bottle or some other DIY thing. A baby will find the littlest thing to put in his mouth and I am in no shape to chase a 1 yr old around. :)
Send me your recipes if you like and i can try to see whats going on with them

I found the alcohol will also seriously weaken the o-rings; I've had to replace one already, which taught me about soaking in alcohol! :D

Yes, I broke the whole thing down to all its constituent parts, but I did not put the plastic tank section in the boiling water, I just left it soaking in fresh hot soapy water while all the metal parts simmered. I did leave the o-rings on, and it didn't seem to hurt them a bit.

So I washed out a new R91 I got during the holiday sales in a Dawn and hot water bath and then rinsed real well. Put my current adv in it and it is tasting real off.

My normal coils are 28ga wrapped on a 1.53mm rod (Gizmo). This time I used the 3mm rod. What a HUGE coil. It came in at 1.89ohms so I am in the ballpark there. Plenty of clouds but yucky taste. I had to use 3x the kgd cotton to fill that thing. First time my cotton has looked as fluffy and full as any of the videos/pics I see on ECF. But it is not tasting right. I am thinking it may be machine oil, cuz taste is way, way off. But this is my 4th r91 and it would be the first one from Kebo that I could not clean easily.

Any ideas on how to get that taste out? I am vaping through a tank of it to see if it is the cotton, but not getting much better taste. I do not have vodka or everclear in the house.
Straight pg can help cut that, what juice are you using? What pg/vg %? How tight. Is the wick in the coil & juice channels?

If you have pg & vg at home mix a batch of just those to your specs, drain the tank & rinse... rewick & fill partly with that to test vape.

Let us know how it goes

Thaya,
Yer so brave. I'm a scaird of rebuildables. Not sure why I'm good with my hands and tools. Just afraid of messing with the electrical part of something that gonna go in my mouth I guess. LOL

Tigger, rebuildables are not all that complicated when you get the basics of how they work. My blog has a pretty solid walkthrough if you want to take a look.

I was terrified of that very thing, tigger; messing with "electrical stuff" was man's work, as far as I was concerned -- I spent my first 2 months as a vaper swearing up and down I would NEVER rebuild. But it's neither scary nor difficult... just wrapping a bit of wire around a drillbit or something like that... attaching the ends to screws, or trapping the ends thru posts... slide some cotton thru it... and the vape it provides... AMAZING!!! I don't think I had ever really tasted my ejuice until I started vaping with my own coils, instead of that factory-made garbage.

There are all kinds of videos about rebuilding, and there's even a pictorial in a blog post here at ECF, though I'd have to find it, to give the link for it (I had a very hard time with videos with my old PC, not enough ram for videos to play well, so someone in the iTaste vv3 thread very kindly did it in pictures for me, of a Mini Protank II). It's new and different, certainly, but really not hard at all.

Thanks, Tig, but I found that rebuildables are quite easy to do. I never thought I would try it either because electricity scares me as well. I used ProTanks for a long time before I decided to try rebuildables. I was nervous at first, but I watched a bunch of YouTube videos showing how to do it and it looked so simple I decided to give it a try.

I only use regulated mods, so I figured even if I screwed it up the worst that would happen is that it wouldn't fire. Imagine my surprise when the first coil I built worked perfectly. I can't even imagine going back to premade coils now. Building your own is so much cheaper and more flexible. I even build dual coils now. If I can do it, anyone can. You should give it a try...you'll be glad you did. :)

I'm miffed now that I've seen these eliquid calc's that ONLY use windows. I've tested most of them for android and they don't compare. It's irritating. I can install windows on any mac but why? there's a reason I hate windows. I like my computers to last 10 yrs for one. Bugs, updates and security are more reasons. But andriod? That's a nice middle ground, tablets are android. I wouldn't have anything else (now) and these programs aren't even tablet friendly. That's so stupid and short sighted. It almost makes me want to learn android programming (ugh) since there's a lot of opportunities I can see with it. Just venting.

My experience with mixing is that most single flavors need an accent flavor to take them from 2d to 3d or pop them. I've heard tea benefits from seaseme (I wanted to get into teas). I've rarely seen tobacco's used alone. Most reciepes combine at least 2 tobaccos. Peach gets a dash of apricot. Bilberry enhances blueberry. My :2c:

Have you searched for a clone reciepe?

In my experience NO flavor stands well on its own. They all need a little tweek of something. Even double ry4 is greatly enhanced by a few drops of vanilla or caramel or even some type of cream. The trick is not to overwhelm your base flavor.
I started out by mixing single flavors and trying them on their own. Then I started taking my base flavor mixing it say like 18mg and adding a little of this or that from the other premixed flavors. If that makes sense? My first successful Swedish fish was 3 premixed flavors mixed together. It's like cooking - taste it - add a pinch of this - taste it - add a dash of that etc.

That's pretty much exactly how I got started with it, mixing 2 or more pre-made juices together -- then, mixing a simple DIY -- banana nut bread -- with some pre-made. Finally it just seemed right to start doing it from "scratch," because that way you can control each individual aspect and element -- nic, PG/VG, throat hit, sweetness, etc etc etc... It's exactly like cooking -- very few good cooks ever cook things the same way twice -- it might be close, similar, but those little tweaks are what make food -- and ejuice! -- so much better!

In response to all this talk of rebuilding being scary. I'm right there with everyone. I was stupid scared I'd short it out and injury myself with the electricity and what not. Turns out the hardest thing for me is getting it wicked in a good manner. I've seen all kinds of ways to do it, and I've found my own way. I like it pretty well. I'll have to get a picture of it next time I wick my Tugboat. Which needs to be when I get home from work. Someone remind me to do that please. :D

I get the 30ml for $4, but if you don't use it often, the 10ml for $1.75 will last a pretty good while -- you don't need much.

Thank you!

I do not know where you get your juice from, but MBV and High Desert Vapes sell DIY stuff. Wizard Labs has the TFA flavorings and sweeteners and at a good price. But just for sweetener, it might be a cheaper idea to do MBV or HDV and a couple of juices or flavors to tweak your current juices. I have added a drop of caramel, vanilla or pecan to tobacco juices I do not care for and there are several other flavors you can use to tweak a vendor made juice.

Lots more places to get sweetener from like One Stop DIYshop, and I can not think of anymore off the top of my head. GoodProphets(?), Goodejuice, Mom and Pop Shop...... Try a search on sweetener in the Eliquid forum, bet a bunch pop up.
Thank you!

I will do that and appreciate the help. It will have to wait until after my son's visit. I have too much to do to prepare for that right now. So if you still have time towards the end of the month that would be great.

I forgot it was April already and have not done our taxes yet, so I am scrambling to get them done. Figures I would forget that, of all things.

Send me your recipes if you like and i can try to see whats going on with them

I will certainly be around, I finally went back to full-time so I have to start getting back to my night shift sleep habits... meaning more free time with the computer and tv lol!
