I think there's something that most people miss with rewrapped batteries. They aren't any specific battery. They are whatever was cheaper for them at the time of purchase. Some may be samsungs, some may be sanyos. It just depends on the cost and availability when they purchase the current batch. So one persons 40A battery will be a 20 amp samsung and another persons 40A battery will be a sanyo 15A battery. But rest assured, they wont be what they advertise it as.....ever.

Point taken, especially for 18650s except but there are only two or three 16650s around. The tested spec of the efests that I bought is identical to the sanyo (which is overrated at 2500 mAh apparently). Both come out to ~2200. The only other one I am aware of is keeppower and I'm not sure if they make their own. Its pretty clear that efest dont...

So it's like a really safe and up dated version? Can it be dry burned like the old stuff?

Yep. The top two pic inserts are of the same wick. Before and after dry burn (+ a slight torch). The reason why I posted that pic collage!

vapdivrr, You think silica is bad?
I don't even like the word silica. Honestly, I don't really know if it is or not, I had tried it once or twice but never like it. I never liked the idea of dry heating it and thought that just didn't seem right. I know you dry burn mesh and porous ceramic but it never seemed the same to me . Maybe it was the fact that it had fiberglass in it that I didn't like, but again, I really don't know if it is any worse for you then any other wicking material

You have any silica how-to videos? Do I have to wrap before placing the coil? Or can I slide through like cotton or rayon?

Ah no. Well, you're giving me the idea - prolly will make one ;)

And no, you don't need to wrap a coil over it ~ you can pretty much wick/re-wick it just like cotton. Here in this video I show how to do that - tho it is with cotton yarn - but the process is the same:

I have used silica/ekowool for many years now until recently. I'm trying cottons again, cotton pads that is. The cotton pads are what I am currently using in the Gems. I couldn't get the silica/ekowool to taste good in them. I still use the silica in other tanks tho.

It is as safe as any other wicking material. Silicosis is an extremely rare disease, could occur with 'fine shreds' of silica entering our lungs, exactly like cotton/rayon. However, till date it has not been observed to happen with vaping.

Fish tape method: Take a piece of kanthal and double it over. Stick the loop end through your coil. Place the silica through the loop end about half way up. Pull through your coil. Hold exiting side of the coil with your fingernail (provided you haven't chewed them off) so as not to yank the coil out of place.

I tried silica that way and it would get shredded pulling it thu. I always pre-wrap before installing it in my tanks.

I wonder how it would work if I wet the silica first???
