There are pics in my thread mod set on fire. When I pulled the battery I think the fire stopped. I also threw it out into the snow. I'm not taking it apart for pics of the inside just in case they try to say I went in there and caused it. I'm sure FC will ask for it back in order to be reimbursed by Hotcig.
Just read the whole thread. Glad you were home when it happened and you were able to toss it out immediately. Glad you're safe and glad you're just going to toss the battery to some people's dismay. Better safe than sorry.

Makes me wonder about my Zero I just ordered cuz I'm not home a lot due to work and I don't want it spontaneously catching fire when I'm not around. I'm a bit hesitant because like some people in the other thread said they might have rushed the qc on this since there is a good demand for the wood version. I'm not an experienced box user and they're supposed to be safer than a mech, so I wouldn't know as much as you. Keep us updated!

Definitely take the battery out when you're not around. It can't be turned off.

I still have one of these mods. And had ordered the wood one Fri night.

You don't think when you go to the menu under system and tilt and the screen says "Byebye" that is turning the mod off? You have to press 4 times to "start" the device back up and you get the "HOTCIG" and "SX300" screens like its booting up.
I understand why you wouldn't trust it either way from now on. I was just under the impression that this process was "turning the device off", if you will.

Glad you and your family are okay

You're absolutely right. 5 clicks to turn on from the "off" state. I apologize for my mistake. When already "on" and I click 5 times I get a menu that progresses thru three options with each subsequent click - watt setting, exit and system. Exit just goes back to the "on" display and "system" gives me the "Byebye" message then the mod will not get back to the "on" display until clicked 5 times like you said and I incorrectly said 4 initially.
So if I understand correctly - you were using the "system" setting to turn it "off" and that after doing so and the mod sitting for a period of time you experienced the fire and are therefore saying that the mod is truly not "off" after using the "system" off function.
Is that right?

Heres a video of what I am talking about -

Hi everyone. I just ordered my wood zero on Friday and I already have a hotcig sx zero. My coworker purchased a DNA 40 zero that exploded on him. Seller says he's sold hundreds and this is the first time he's hearing about it. I call bs but whatever.

Anyhow, with my wood zero, I'm planning on machining a nice piece of stabilized maple to replace the stock wood. While I'm in there I'll take a close look at the soldering to see if maybe that's where the problems are coming from. I haven't received either piece yet but they should be here in a few weeks. Here's the wood I went with.

Do you have a link for this? Please keep us updated on the process, or start a thread! Very interested!!!

I received the Wood SX Zero so I will just give some quick thoughts, but fyi I will not have a lot of time for follow up though.

The body looks good and sturdy, the frame and button are the same as the first version. What I do not like are the slots in the 510 and battery cap, Yosen did a much better job. The issue is not the threads or general appearance, it is the fact that the slot on either side of the negative contact are too large and so I don't have any flat head screwdrivers that fit it, so removing the battery cap is a PITA!!!!!! Instant turn off for me.

I use my red mini screwdriver for just about everything related to my vape gear and it is completely useless when it comes to these caps ... annoying. Also, the 510 well to me is unusually deep. Here again the Yosen's 510 connection/reverse threaded pin is much much better. I had to adjust the copper pin all the way up, boardering on wobbly in order to make good contact with my Tobeco KF4 .. I don't like that.

KF4 510 pin and threads are fairly standard in size, no way I should have to adjust the fire pin up so much to make contact. Other than that its fine .. I only fired it a few times to make sure that the chip feel was the same as the SS version, and it is. Again, the body looks really good, the chip is the same ... the depth of the 510 ground, and the too wide slots on both caps are the con's IMO .. thats all.

Mines out for delivery a day early so excited to play with mine. I wonder if you can buy a replacement copper contact screw from anywhere online so that way you won't have to adjust so much

The problem is not the screw, its the screws housing in the wood body insert. You will see when you receive it and remove the 510 cap, the freaking housing is so low! If I get some time I will snap a pic with the Wood Zero and Yosen SX side by side so you can see what I mean. The copper screw itself is fairly long, but I guess a even longer screw?

Got my wood sx zero today too. Im fine with the 510 connection. Seems like the cap is now removable to be able to hybrid an atty on there. If thats the case it makes sense to me the contact pin would need additional travel for this. Atties have been connecting fine for me. Slot size on caps is also okay in my book - they remove easily with coins. Now that small copper battery adjustment and the copper 510 contact pin would require a screwdriver and since there isn't one included like all other zero clones that is a bummer to me. I would have rather seen a single piece batt cap with one big coin-size slot and a spring-loaded 510 pin (but if this can hybrid 20x1 or similar I see the point in the adjustable 510).
My biggest complaint though is, on mine, the batt cap cant be tightened enough to ever be flush with the body. It always sticks out and makes the mod wobble when stood upright. I am using sony vtc4 which aren't unusually long.
