Hi everyone. I just ordered my wood zero on Friday and I already have a hotcig sx zero. My coworker purchased a DNA 40 zero that exploded on him. Seller says he's sold hundreds and this is the first time he's hearing about it. I call bs but whatever.
Anyhow, with my wood zero, I'm planning on machining a nice piece of stabilized maple to replace the stock wood. While I'm in there I'll take a close look at the soldering to see if maybe that's where the problems are coming from. I haven't received either piece yet but they should be here in a few weeks. Here's the wood I went with.
I don't mean to knock what your doing at all, but - 31.99 + free shipping > for that price you'd think they would include a pair of carving knives in there with it.
Haha stabilized maple is expensive. Some pieces run $50+.

Yes. I have a full machine shop here at my job. The contoured rear should be the most difficult part. Drilling for the battery and wiring are a piece of cake. The recess for the electronics is pretty simple too.
Its here. Haven't had a chance to play with it yet. Gave it the once over and its gorgeous. The negative battery screw is bouncing around inside it so hopefully it fits in the bottom piece and isn't stripped or something.
Well, my 510 pin is not far down, nor is it wobbly, but its not even close to centered. I'll be surprised if it works.
Yep, can't get the 510 pin straight and it won't fire anything. Also with the design of the 510, it would be a major pain to replace so its going back. Sigh, not having good luck with my Zeros lately. Its too bad as mine was gorgeous

That's a bummer. Sorry to hear. I'm kinda surprised that there is still stock on fc. I thought this was only a 50 unit batch, and honestly thought they were going to be sold out super quick. You planning on grabbing another?

Actually it will be on mine. There's not enough depth. Unlike Nikki's, mine is up really high. I would have to cut off that part the 510 pin screws into. I wasn't certain, but it looks like its one piece with the positive battery contact?
No. I've now gotten 6 Zeros.
Yosen #1 went crazy and was outputting extremely high voltage after a few days.
Yosen #2 is still here and got a new chip.
Hotcig #1 set on fire.
Hotcig #2 is here but needs 1-2mm sanded from both bolts or batteries don't fit in it.
Hotcig #3 was awesome, but that's the one I gave my friend.
Hotcig #4 is the wood one, and its going back.
Honestly, I think I'm getting another istck 50W. Its common and plain, but it works. Seeing Nikki's 510 also sucks, and some others, I'm not confident I would get a decent one exchanging it.
That really sucks. No local machinist that can make you a center screw from copper for cheap?
The part it screws into is what's crooked.
Yeah, if I had gotten one like Nikki's where it was too low, I would have had the clearance for a new 510. Mine is up so high all my attys stick up 1/4" from the top of the mod. It sounds like only one person got one with a decent 510. So my odds of getting a better one don't seem very good.
Excuse the pictures, I live in squalor and I don't know how to resize images properly lol. But my stuff sits on flush, isn't too long, and it doesn't wobble. Hopefully my pictures help?

Ok, the one I took with an atty on, you can't see how high it sticks up as I was trying to show it couldn't fire. This one though you can see how off center it is. This is with the pin all the way down.
