Nice. Question, does your VTC Mini charge the batt to the full 4.2v? My Cuboid only charges the batts to 4.0v.

You aren't supposed to charge through the cuboid.

I would never charge anything that operates in series though the mod anyways just for safety sake, which is why it is most likely shutting down at 4.0 anyways as a failsafe.

Talking of new wires, one thing that intrigued me in Dicodes' manual was that they listed a TCR for Tungsten, and it was high - between Titanium and Nickel, around 420 I think. So I wonder if that is a usable wire as well?

Well there is a new coiless rta that uses a ceramic chip with tungsten wires that you use in tenp control with the tungsten tcr

The problem with tungsten is it's flammable.

If it's in ceramic then there's no air, therefore no oxygen to react with, but coiling with it ourselves isn't really feasible.

I don't know if it's flammable. Tungsten is what was used in incandescent light-bulbs forever -- that little filament that glows is made of tungsten. It has the highest melting point of all pure metals.

The problem with it is it has a super low resistivity, even lower than nickel irrc. This makes it not feasible for building unless you use like 32 or 34 gauge wire with a sh*tload of wraps, or if you use it inside of a heating element where there's plenty of surface area for the wire (as is done in the Altus).

Tungsten lights are vacuum bulbs ie no oxygen.

Yes but no oxygen inside a lightbulb, that's why it handles such high heat for the mass of the filament.

Tungsten rods are used in TIG welding to weld aluminum, it certainly can handle high heat when it has enough mass. It is used as an electrode to create a high temperature arc, very cool.

One thing I don't really understand about the Altus is that the specs say it can only be ran in temperature mode up to 480 f I wonder why that is?

I think I'm done with claptons, at least in my tanks. The long cool down bugged me some.
Here's the post though, I put a clapton in my atty yesterday, took me about an hour to figure why temp wasn't working. (it was Nichrome and Kanthal)....... DUH
This morning I pulled out the single NiFe52/Kanthal coil out of my Bellus and replaced with dual Resistherm 2mm, I think I'm in vaping heaven.
