Does anyone like Menthol?

I don't care for it myself, but I do have family and friends who "must" have it. Here's my Cool Breeze recipe:

Watermelon - 9%
Blueberry - 7%
Raspberry - 4%
Lemon Lime - 2%
Koolada - 2%
Menthol - 4%
Cotton Candy - 2%

So, many "Cool" flavors in a wonderful 30% mix. This one is delicious, but if you don't like menthol, it's going to put a flavor in your gear that's going to be tough to get out. This is strong stuff, and perfect for my menthol loving friends. Like a breath of a cool breeze....Enjoy!

P.S. This one has no cream or vanilla, for those that don't think I can make a juice without them! :D:D

I have friends in Hawaii who can't live without it.

Me! I've found Koolada to be the perfect menthol-enhancement, and I use it for my apple and grape juices. :) I find 4 drops per 10ml to be the perfect vape for a hot summer afternoon

I'm in a sharing mood, I suppose, so one more:

Peach Danish

Juicy Peach - 8%
Vanilla Custard - 4%
Brown Sugar - 2%
Butter - 2%
Sweetener - 2%
Waffle - 1%
Sweet Cream - 1%

I'm not sure which I like better, the Peach Cobbler or the Peach Danish. I made both a year and a half to two years ago, and they were in that first group of "NEW" good flavors, that surprised me at the time. Before a couple of years ago, my only decent juice was my Cinnamon Danish, my current and always ADV. Juicy Peach is one of the few flavors that I think is pretty good as a stand alone single flavor. However, it doesn't compare to the nuanced recipes like this Danish, or the cobbler, imho. You can also make a great Peach Pie with this flavor, a great peaches and cream (sweet cream+), or ice cream (add vanilla bean+), a peach starburst (sweet and tart), etc. It mixes well with other fruits too. I've made a good peaches and pear (surprisingly good with brown sugar, vanilla, dulce de leche, and whipped cream). Wonderful all of them.

Juicy peach is probably the closest to the best fruit flavoring, which is Strawberry, imho, because it's almost as flexible. So many recipes have strawberry in them, but Juicy Peach is not far behind either, and Apple would probably be third as the most flexible fruit flavoring. Just think of all the supporting flavors you can add to these fruits! Wonderful pies, custards, creams, ice creams, Danish, cobblers, and most of them use many of the same flavors, like the short list I mentioned above as good starting flavors. If you haven't tried the juicy peach yet, you're in for a treat. Like apple, you can use cinnamon with it too. Amazing versatility. Yummy!

Please let me hear about your favorite flavorings (Thank you Heabob, Kiwi, Tim et al). Even if you haven't made world class juice yet, you must have certain favorites. If you have favorite store bought juices, we can probably copy them pretty close, fairly quickly too, and it's incredibly fun to "figure out" the recipes for different mixes. Also, this thread is a lot more fun when everyone is participating. :toast:

Bill's list is perfect, Pany. If I may speak from experience... Avoid (for now) coffee and chocolate unless you're going to follow a recipe from Bill or one of the other "veterans."

I love cinnamon - so I have an apple cinnamon (stupidly simple recipe) that I vape in the late evening when I'm playing games. Cinnamon Crimson Hots is what I like at about 3% with my apple. The other cinnamons are true cinnamon spice. Big floral note and NOT what I wanted. I wanted the candy type. I'm pretty sure it has eugenol in it.

Diacetyl is what you don't want. The acetoin and acetyl propionyl in the trace amounts aren't harmful. Anyone else can thoroughly trash me if I'm wrong.

Tim
Cough it up! How do you make Apple Cinnamon? Sounds delicious. Would make a great cobbler too, right?

Just adding to Bill's list...
Brown Sugar Extra
Cheesecake Graham Crust
Marshmallow
Blueberry Wild
Orange Cream
Cinnamon Danish

Just some of my favorites.

All great additions! After the basics, it's easiest to buy flavors based on specific recipes, I think, because there are just so many different flavors and it takes a long time to get them all. I don't have them all, and may never have them all, just depends if I need one for a recipe or not. Good choices!

Chocolate Candy Bar anyone? Here are my favorite candy bars.....and all easy to make.

Butterfinger

Caramel - 8%
Peanut Butter - 6%
Cotton Candy - 2%
Double Chocolate - 1.5%
Milk Chocolate - 1.5%
Vanilla Swirl - 1%
Sweetener - 1%

Almond Joy

Coconut Extra - 8%
Toasted Almond - 6%
English Toffee- 3%
Milk Chocolate - 3%
Sweetener - 4%

Mounds Bar

Milk Chocolate - 6%
Kona Coffee - 2%
Coconut Candy - 2%
Sweetener - 4%
Whipped Cream - 2%
Dark Double Chocolate - 4%

Peanut Butter Cup

Dark double Chocolate - 2%
Milk Chocolate - 4%
Peanut Butter - 4%
Caramel - 4%
Sweet Cream - 2%
Vanilla Swirl - 2%
Sweetener - 2%

Snickers

Dark Double Chocolate - 5%
Milk Chocolate - 2%
Caramel - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 3%
Peanut Butter - 2%
Sweet Cream - 2%
Sweetener - 3.5%

I wanted to put these all together so we can see how similar the ingredients are for all of them, as you would suspect, right? I love candy bars, and these make wonderful breaks during our vaping day. I would love to add to my candy bar collection, so if you have a recipe to share, I would be very grateful. Some the candy bars can be made with ingredients other than TFA. I think Flavor West has several flavorings for candy bars, and I do recommend them. However, I'm trying to stick just to TFA flavors here.

The fun thing about these candy bars is you can see that it would be easy to make your own candy bar, with similar ingredients, and it's likely to be just as good, and you can flavor to taste. Good luck!

Maybe pies next????

My dream (lol) is to create 4 classes of juices: dessert, fruit with Koolada, coffee and tobacco.

Leaving tobacco to the end just because I think it'll be the most complex (my fav are the NETs from ahlusion)

Fruits are simple; I don't like fruit vapes with multiple fruits in them. Just a nice mentholy straight grape and a apple would be solid. I have at least 5 different ones from diff vendors (A few TFA, a few INW, one FA) so I'm gonna compare and see which one I like better and start mass producing them for myself

Coffee: I'm close. SO close. I searched for the perfect coffee vape for a year, and gave up. Then I made my recent one and was blown away by how good it was. Still some stuff to be tweaked, but I'm so close and couldn't be more pleased. Hoping to start making variations, such as mocha, vanilla coffee, caramel coffee etc.

Desserts... I'm a fat boy at heart. I've made a apple pie + vanilla custard which is good but not good enough. I'm gonna take up bill's advice and use apple + pie crust and maybe cinnamon to "build" my own apple pie. I also have a banana fosters + vanilla custard that's bloody delicious. I hope to get a good strawberry cheesecake one day too. Haven't had much success

Any recipes, my friend? Love to have all your bloody delicious concoctions!

Try my Dutch Apple Pie ala mode. It's my best juice. It's up there somewhere prior.

I like your classification ideas. 90% of my juice are deserts, candy bars, cereals, and fruits.

I love my morning cup of joe. 6 shots of espresso....all I need for the day, but don't really vape the Joe much. I played with coffee's in the early days, and found them tough, and not as good as desserts, so I went a different direction. I've got some good recipes now, but I prefer the cappuccino caramel vanilla ones the best, as they are closest to the desserts I love. I do use some coffees in my candy bar recipes, though. Have to use 'em to get some flavorings.

Just a nice mentholy straight grape and a apple would be solid.

It's not my recipe, but i found a pretty good menthol + apple on here a while back.

8% apple
6% menthol

The apple comes through pretty good in this one with a fairly strong menthol hit.

Hey Bill,i made up the Peach cobbler the other day, that's some good stuff,so i will definitely give the peach danish a try,of course i don't have the waffle,so it will be next week, but looking forward to trying it.I have to agree on the juicy peach too, that stuff is so good it's almost addicting haha. It's funny i cant stand the taste of real peaches, but i could use the juicy peach every day.I will be getting the last order i made tommorow,so looking forward to mixing up a few you posted last week, especially the lemon meringue pie. That has to be my favorite pie,and a while back i bought that flavor from capella, just a little fyi, their lemon meringue flavor tastes nothing like the pie haha,so looking forward to making yours.

My caramel latte recipe:
Caramel Capp 1 drop per 10ml
Cotton candy (em) 2%
Sweet cream 5%
Sweetener 2%
Vanilla swirl 4%

I love using sweet cream. Gives me a nice rich creamy flavor that I go for in a dessert vape. I may up that that vanilla swirl if I want it even creamier tho.

The banana fosters is so simple but so good. I just enjoy sitting down and chain vaping it.
Banana foster 4%
Vanilla custard 2.5%

I might add 1 to 2% EM and see if it changes the flavor.

Apple pie with vanilla custard. Has a ton of potential but the flavoring isn't. Hmm. Clear enough. It's a little muddled in terms of trying to get the apple and the pie crust flavor. Which is why I wanna do what you suggested and make my own apple pie flavoring.

Apple pie 12%
Cotton candy (em) 3%
Vanilla custard 6%

AAAND my strawberry cheesecake. I just made it and it's chilling for a day now.

Cheesecake 2% (that's a strong strong flavor. Frowns)
Cotton candy 2%
Graham cracker clear 5%
Strawberry ripe 12%
Sweet cream 4%
Vanilla swirl 4%

My first few versions had 5% cheesecake and it screwed everything up. It was just too overbearing. Dropped it down to 2% and during my initial test, it was still a little too strong.

Strawberry.. Started at 8%. Too weak. Went up to 12% and still seems weak. Needa bump that.

Def wanna bump up graham cracker because I can't taste it at all.

Thinking because the cheesecake is creamy and rich as it is, I'm gonna drop the sweet cream altogether, and bump up vanilla swirl to bring a little more. I dunno how to describe it. Clarity to the flavor?

If you have any advice on making my own apple pie, as well as the strawberry cheesecake, let me know! Your advice have been unbelievably helpful.

I also meant to do your cinnamon Adv but I've been busy. Def tmr or Wednesday depending on schedule. I'm stoked. I've tried many cinnamon Danish vapes and while the cinnamon part of it is good, I find that they ALL lack some kinda. Depth/body that I get from eating the actual stuff if you know what I mean.

... Yeaaaa I'm not so good at expressing myself hahahahaha

My Signature Juice is Dutch Apple Pie ala Mode:

Apple - 12%
French Vanilla - 4%
Sweetener - 4%
Pie Crust - 4%
Graham Cracker - 3%
Brown Sugar - 2%
Butter - 1%
Cinnamon - .5%

My best, I think. The Dutch Apple Pie ala Mode.

My Banana's Foster (Monkey Business):

Bananas Foster - 12%
Cinnamon Danish - 6%
Vanilla Swirl - 4%
Jamaican Rum - 5%
Brown Sugar - 3%

I haven't made Strawberry Cheesecake in a while, and the last time, I was not satisfied. I can tell you that I have better success with Strawberry (Sweet) rather than ripe, though. I do have a good Strawberry Shortcake:

Strawberry (sweet) - 10%
Vanilla Cupcake - 6%
Whipped cream - 3%
Sweetener - 3 - 4%

I may someday revisit cheesecake, as I love the dessert. It may be that we just can't get there with TFA. I don't know, it's been over a year since I looked at it, nor have I tried to find any recipes for it. I did buy the Cheesecake with Graham Cracker in anticipation of revisiting it someday.

Thank you for sharing your recipes! Awesome! Glad your juice is progressing too. All good news!

I do have a nice Café Mocha recipe:

Coffee - 9%
Chocolate - 4%
Bavarian Cream - 3%
Sweet Cream - 2%
Sweetener - 3%

So, that's about it for now. Ciao!

Maybe one of you experts or at least more knowledgeable folks than me can help me out.
It is very good but it has a very slight bitter taste. What do you think I could add or take away to remove that bitter bite? All thoughts and hints will be very welcome.

I see where Bill has made lots of good suggestion, but I might also add:
Have you tried a couple drops of .09 saline ??
It takes the bitterness out, adds a "moisture" feel, and blends the flavors.
It also makes some of the fruits "pop", and brings out chocolate.

Think about how sprinkling salt on your grapefruit (real one) cuts the bitterness, and makes it sweet.
It's totally save, and it's used in inhalers.
I buy it in the RX dept. It's a spray and is used to flush and clean wounds.
Make sure it isn't one with added ingredients ... just straight .09% saline.
NOT the nasal spray ... the wound spray.
I put the nozzle in the top of a 30ml bottle and push the button, It's fills the bottle without making a mess.

I don't use it much, but I find it really handy in chocolate, and some fruit recipes.
I defiantly use it to take "sharp" notes out when I run into them.
I just add a drop or two directly into the tank if I think it will help.
Just another idea for you.

Hi Bill, long time no talk too ... you have REALLY progressed in the juice dept .. good to run into you again ... I'll hang out here for a while.

Oh wow! That looks really good and just reading your post made me HUNGRY!

Bill, did you post your ADV Cinnamon Danish recipe? If you did, I'll go find it. But if you didn't, I'm hoping you will. I have a 4oz bottle of Cinnamon Danish and even though I'm working tobaccos, if I have the other flavors I'm going to make your recipe.

I'm with you in the order you put things. Even though I'm not doing fruits, Strawberry, Juicy Peach, and Apple are really good from TFA. In honor of what I've discovered (from reading your posts) about the creams and sweetness, I'm going to try a nice Apple Cinnamon by adding some of the base creams and sweetness. I can tell you my RY4, even though I don't have the RY4 flavor right yet, has taken on a brand new dimension. I added Sweet Cream, Whipped Cream, and Bavarian Cream along with a touch of EM (Cotton Candy). That juice just lathers all over on the inhale and is just smooth and luscious on the exhale and the aftertaste is unreal (good). Thanks, Bill. Good on ya!

Cough it up! How do you make Apple Cinnamon? Sounds delicious. Would make a great cobbler too, right?

Oh, Bill. I would gladly give the recipe, but it's so stupid and simple... Like I said one post back: My experience enriching my RY4 I'm going to apply to my Apple Cinnamon.

TFA Apple 10%
TFA Cinnamon Red Hots 4%

It's pretty hot, which is how I like it. Now, when I get time I'm going to try to go pro level with this juice by adding some enrichment ala Bill's Magic Vapor!

Quick question Bill ... are you making a separate "base" using just the flavors, and then adding the % you wasnt to the nic base, or are you using 35% flavor in the juice.

I do make a separate base of the PG ingredients at 30% of mix overall. So, in the case of the apple pie at 30.5% flavoring, there would be no additional PG added, but some mixes have less than 30% flavoring, and I'll add PG to get to 30% PG. I keep these bases in reagent bottles and then mix in VG and VG Nic later, as strength dictates. In this way, my juices are always at a 30/70 PG/VG ratio. This eliminates steeping time later, or at least 90% of it.

In this way, the flavors are not only fully bonded, but, over time, become syrupy, darker, thicker, mature. While they don't instantly mix with the VG, they are ready to go by the time the air bubbles are gone, usually two hours, or less, later. Here's what that looks like:

20140710_121232.jpg

Those are 500 ml reagent bottles, and I usually keep about 100 - 200 ml of base around in my 20 favorite flavors. These will then make about 330 - 650 ml of juice at a 30% base mixture.

Since I vape with 6 mg/ml Nic, I also keep my favorite flavors around as backups in 240 ml bottles and fully mixed and ready:

20140710_121307.jpg

I'm slowly taking over this bar cabinet. Soon, I'll have to take the bar stuff out, and then it'll be the Juice Shack, or, whatever. And this is what the family uses every day for daily Juice:

20140710_121243.jpg

These are 30 ml juice bottles, that get replenished from the 240 ml bottles, as needed. I usually keep 120 ml of my ADV CD here, as well.

Hi Bill, long time no talk too ... you have REALLY progressed in the juice dept .. good to run into you again ... I'll hang out here for a while.

Good to see you too, I still see you elsewhere, seems like a lot, maybe? I do the micro coil thread, the Taifun, the Semovar, and Protank threads, too. Since my son passed about 3+ weeks ago, I have felt the need to connect, to write, to share, and one of the ways I have been doing that is spilling my guts on here. It has been most helpful and everyone is so great here. Many thanks, ya'll!

I have not used your saline method, which makes perfect sense if the mix is too acidic. It would neutralize the acid. Wonderful advise. Probably necessary with most tank killer juices, which are corrosive, and I would assume are usually acidic, maybe, right? I may have this backwards, as well. Let me know (straighten my .... out!).

I have been hoping that other Juice Wars Veterans would chime in here, and that we could super charge this thread, and everyone learn from the participation. As I said, I'm finding it a cathartic, for my catharsis, and claim no expertise, other than vapers do seem to like my juice, and it has been a huge struggle to make decent juice for me. Had I not had about a $500 investment is gear, juice, etc., seriously, I would have given up, so I know that it's not easy, and if I can help others, then that makes me feel good, and I need to feel good right now, somehow, someway, so please forgive me for hogging the thread. It's my therapy. Many thanks to all!

Today's recipe is Dragon's Blood:

Dragon Fruit - 10%
Cotton Candy - 5%
Strawberry - 5%
Bavarian Cream - 4%
Vanilla Cupcake - 2.5%
Sweet Cream - 2%
Vanilla Swirl - 1.5%

Another 30% mix. If you haven't noticed yet, I target the 30% flavoring mix as my ceiling. It's all PG, and my juice is almost always a 30/70 PG/VG mix, requiring that I use a VG Nic. I hope that makes sense to you. I use the E Juice Me Up Calculator by Breakthru. I also use excel spreadsheets of each juice to calculate costs of production, taking the base mixtures and turning it into multiple strengths, etc. Easy peasy.

I don't think I've mentioned it yet, but I do use 100 mg/ml Nicotine in 100% VG solution. So, if I'm making 100 ml of juice, the Nic is 6 ml, the PG flavoring base is 30 ml and the VG is 64 ml. For 12 mg/ml juice it would be 12 ml Nic, 30 ml base flavoring, and 58 ml of VG. So, it's very easy to keep the mixes in my head this way. Since my family and friends use differing amounts of nicotine, using the base method allows me easily make any strength at any time. Also, if I wanted a 50/50 PG/VG ratio, I would reduce the VG 20%, and use 20% PG, so again, I can make any ratio mix, with at least 30% PG in the ratio. I hope that makes sense.

I use this method so I can make different ratios and strengths quickly, requiring little or no steeping time. The hardest part of steeping is not getting the flavors to mix with the PG or VG or even the Nic, it's getting them to meld with each other and to form new flavor bonds. If this were not true then juice would taste the same after steeping as it did before steeping, and it doesn't, it tastes very different. And, it's not so much steeping as aging. Flavors, like wine, require aging to mature. Using a base provides this and allows a quick "production" time frame. :2c:

Hi Bill, long time no talk too ... you have REALLY progressed in the juice dept .. good to run into you again ... I'll hang out here for a while.

Please do, we need more participation here, methinks, and Welcome Back! Good to see you too!

Would you please share a recipe with us? The whole purpose of this thread is using the TFA flavors to make some good juice, an elusive undertaking initially, or it was for me. It would be very helpful and much appreciated! The new juice makers would very much benefit from your contributions! As would I!
