Oh, Bill. I would gladly give the recipe, but it's so stupid and simple... Like I said one post back: My experience enriching my RY4 I'm going to apply to my Apple Cinnamon.

TFA Apple 10%
TFA Cinnamon Red Hots 4%

It's pretty hot, which is how I like it. Now, when I get time I'm going to try to go pro level with this juice by adding some enrichment ala Bill's Magic Vapor!

Ahhhhh....I see. Scary hot, right? Bet it's good, particularly if you can't taste anything anymore. I was last able to taste in 1976, I think.

I have a couple of friends that love the Red Hots, and it's all they vape. They are "pressuring" me to make one up for them, and I did just get the flavorings about a month ago. So, I'm about 15 juices behind right now, that I need to figure out. Probably get to some of them this week and next.

I see where Bill has made lots of good suggestion, but I might also add:
Have you tried a couple drops of .09 saline ??
It takes the bitterness out, adds a "moisture" feel, and blends the flavors.
It also makes some of the fruits "pop", and brings out chocolate.

Think about how sprinkling salt on your grapefruit (real one) cuts the bitterness, and makes it sweet.
It's totally save, and it's used in inhalers.
I buy it in the RX dept. It's a spray and is used to flush and clean wounds.
Make sure it isn't one with added ingredients ... just straight .09% saline.
NOT the nasal spray ... the wound spray.
I put the nozzle in the top of a 30ml bottle and push the button, It's fills the bottle without making a mess.

I don't use it much, but I find it really handy in chocolate, and some fruit recipes.
I defiantly use it to take "sharp" notes out when I run into them.
I just add a drop or two directly into the tank if I think it will help.
Just another idea for you.

Hi Bill, long time no talk too ... you have REALLY progressed in the juice dept .. good to run into you again ... I'll hang out here for a while.

Thanks bunches Slots. I have been seeing more and more about the saline and really need to pick some up the next time I am in town.

On another note....I love both Hazelnut and Bavarian Cream. Both very good stand alone flavors but I followed your advice and mixed the two 50/50. Oh my, it is delicious. I added just a hint of Koolada and it is even better. Thank you.

No bites? You get a Twinkie, of course. Spot on if you ask me.

ah ha, I know what I am going to do with some of that sample of Vanilla Cupcake I have in my flavoring box :D Hubby loves Twinkies

a question though...when you say 10% equal parts Bavarian Cream, Sweet Cream and Sweetener?..do you mean 10% of each of the creams? or a total of 10%

3% Bavarian Cream
3% Sweet Cream
3.5% Sweetener, more or less

This is a pretty common mix for me when I'm doing a filling flavor, and the ingredients can vary slightly by .5-1% either way. It is a good filling though!

Thanks bunches. It sounds like it will be very tasty.

I do have a simple menthol mix that some might enjoy
2.5% menthol
1.5% Cinnamon red hot
.5% sweetener

I started the mix the first time with 5% menthol. Whew....that was way to strong for me. This one isn't an ADV for me but I find it makes for a very good pallet cleanser.

Yes, indeed! These Fire and Ice mixes are very popular, and great palate cleansers as you say. Very nice! Thank you!

Not sure about this one, yet.

RY4 5th Dimension
TFA RY4 Double 8%
TFA EM 2%
TFA Sweet Cream 1%
TFA Bavarian Cream 3%
TFA Caramel Original 3%
TFA Vanilla Swirl .5%
TFA Tobacco Flavor 1%

My thinking is this. I can't taste the RY4 at 10% so I lowered the percentage and put in another tobacco. The cream stuff is to give it that pro level richness that Bill's been sharing about. I'm trying it now. I'm also scratching my head.

please forgive me for hogging the thread. It's my therapy. Many thanks to all!

I don't think anyone here would consider what your doing as hogging the thread. You're passing on alot of very good and helpful info, and i'm sure that most are very grateful,as i know i am,for the info and recipes that you are willing to share.I've only been mixing for maybe 4 months,so i'm still in the very early learning stages, and have gotten alot of helpful info from this thread in the last few weeks.I have yet to come up with a recipe of my own,but with info from here,i'm getting closer.I do have 1 that is still in the thinking phase,i know what i want it to taste like,as well as what flavors are in the product i'm trying to mimic,i just need to work out the percentages. It wont be all tfa,as the main flavor they dont sell, but once i get it worked out,i will glady share it with you anyway,as you have shared so many with us.

I like the direction you are going. How does the first test batch taste out of the can? Since RY4 is sweet, and can be used in non-tobacco recipes, I'm not that surprised you can't taste it a lot over the creams and vanilla. Good idea on the second tobacco I think. I think the tobacco notes added to your vanilla and creamy caramel will work out for you once you get the percentages where you want them. Let us know! Much can be learned from this now. Keep us posted Tim!

Well... TFA Tobacco Flavor isn't the right tobacco - at least today. I'll let it sit overnight and try it again tomorrow. Point being the tobacco definitely did something, I'm just not sure I like what it did. The juice is still rich and not overly sweet to me. I taste a nice, not overpowering caramel...

Something that occurred to me is this. Sometimes coffee will smell like cigarettes to me. What about a drop or two of coffee? I have TFA Coffee Clear, but I was thinking about TFA Coffee Flavor.

I also think I might order some sesame seed from TFA. Can't think of the proper title right now. Sesame seeds definitely remind me of smoke.

Just some ramblings for now...

Thanks, Bill!

Experimenting like you are with coffee sounds great. You may discover something great, or be able to rule out a flavor pairing. Either way, you WIN! Some of the best flavorings come from unlikely combinations. These are sometimes called pairings, and it can get weird sometimes. Here are some pairings that have been posted on ECF, and before my time:

First, here's an interesting site: Flavor Profiles that Pair Together in Recipes - Nouveau RawNouveau Raw

Here's the other list I mentioned:

Allspice pairs well with: apples, beets, cabbage, caramel, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, coriander, ginger, juniper, mace, mustard, nuts, nutmeg, onions, pears, pumpkin, root vegetables, yams.

Almond pairs well with: apple, apricot, banana, caramel, cherry, coffee, fig, honey, orange, peach, pear, plum

Anise pairs well with: apples, beets, caramel, carrots, chocolate, citrus, cinnamon, coconut, coriander, cranberry, fennel, figs, fish, garlic, peaches, pomegranates, pumpkin

Apple pairs well with: caramel, cardamom, chestnut, cinnamon, cranberry, currant, ginger, hazelnut, mango, maple, rosemary, walnut

Apricot pairs well with: almond, black pepper, caramel, cardamom, ginger, hazelnut, honey, orange, peach, vanilla, plum

Asian Pear pairs well with: almond, apple, black pepper, cinnamon, ginger, honey, macadamia, nutmeg, raisin, vanilla

Banana pairs well with: caramel, cherry, chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, ginger, hazelnut, honey, mango, molasses, papaya

Blackberry pairs well with: apricot, black pepper, cinnamon, citrus, hazelnut, lemon, other berries, peach, plum

Blood Orange pairs well with: almond, cardamom, chocolate, cinnamon, clove, fig, ginger, honey, other citrus

Blueberry pairs well with: other berries, cardamom, mango, lemon, hazelnut, ginger, fig, lavender, other citrus

Butternut Squash pairs well with: sage and rosemary, either of which can be used fresh or in dried form. The warm “pie spices” of nutmeg and ginger are a good match for butternut squash, both underlining and balancing its sweetness. For a savory approach, consider cumin. Chilies provide sweet-and-spicy flavor combination. The naturally sweet taste of butternut squash is enhanced when paired with fruit, such as fresh and dried apples, fresh pear, orange juice and dried cranberries.

Cardamom pairs well with: apples, bananas, beans, caramel, citrus fruit, coconut, ice creams, nuts, mango, allspice, almond, cardamom, chili, cinnamon, clove, coriander, cumin, curry, dates, fennel seed, ginger, mustard, paprika, pears, pepper, star anise, turmeric, saffron

Cherry pairs well with: apricot, black pepper, chocolate, citrus, nectarine, peach, plum, vanilla

Chestnut pairs well with: apple, caramel, chocolate, coffee, pear, vanilla

Chocolate pairs well with: oranges, nuts, Allspice, almond, aniseed, cinnamon, clove, curry leaf, fennel seed, garlic, ginger, lemongrass, mint, nutmeg, onion, vanilla

Cinnamon pairs well with: allspice, apples, bananas, cantaloupe, caraway, cardamom, clove, cacao, chilies, caramel, cauliflower, chocolate, corn, curries, coffee, coriander, cranberry, cumin, dates, figs, ginger, mint, nutmeg, grapes, oranges, peaches, pears, winter squash, star anise, sun-dried tomatoes, tamarind, turmeric, vanilla

Clove pairs well with: allspice, apples, beets, bay leaf, cakes, cardamom, cacao, carrots, chocolate, citrus, coriander, cumin, curry, fennel, ginger, mace, nutmeg, orange, peaches, pineapple, pumpkin, red cabbage, star anise, tamarind, turmeric, vanilla

Coconut pairs well with: Allspice, banana, basil, black pepper, Brazil nut, caramel, chocolate, citrus, cumin, curry leaf, garlic, ginger, guava, lemongrass, passionfruit, pineapple, sun-dried, tomato, turmeric, vanilla

Cranberry pairs well with: apple, chocolate, cinnamon, citrus, mango, mint, pear

Currants, Black and Red, pairs well with: cassis, chocolate, citrus

Elderberry pairs well with: apricot, fig, honey, lemon, mandarin, other berries, peach, plum

Fig pairs well with: almond, black pepper, cinnamon, citrus, hazelnut, pear, vanilla

Ginger pairs well with: allspice, almond, anise, apple, apricot, banana, basil, berries, Brazil nut, caramel, carrots, chives, chocolate, cilantro, cinnamon, citrus, cloves, coconut, coriander, cranberry, cumin, curry, dates, fennel, grape, hazelnut, passion fruit, peach, pear, pineapple, plum, nutmeg, onion, peaches, pears, pepper, pumpkin, raisins, turmeric, vanilla

Grape pairs well with: chocolate, citrus, fig, honey, ginger, raisin

Grapefruit pairs well with: basil, black pepper, caramel, citrus, mint, rosemary, thyme, tropical fruit, vanilla

Guava pairs well with: citrus, lime, coconut, huckleberry, kaffir leaf, pineapple, strawberry, tropical fruit

Melon pairs well with: berries, citrus, lemongrass, lemon verbena

Nutmeg pairs well with: allspice, asparagus, cabbage, cardamom, carrots, cinnamon, cloves, coffee, coriander, cranberries, cumin, ginger, mace, onion, peaches, pumpkin, thyme, vanilla

Pear pairs well with: almond, apple, caramel, chestnut, chocolate, cinnamon, citrus, ginger, hazelnut, vanilla, walnut

Pineapple pairs well with: basil, caramel, cilantro, coconut, macadamia, rosemary, tropical fruit

Plum pairs well with: almond, cinnamon, citrus, chestnut, black pepper, hazelnut, honey, vanilla

Pomegranate pairs well with: apple, citrus, cucumber, mint, tropical fruit

Prickly Pear pairs well with: citrus, lime, tomatillo, tropical fruit

Raspberry pairs well with: apricot, cinnamon, citrus, ginger, lemon, nectarine, other berries, peach, plum, rhubarb, thyme, vanilla

Sometimes the pairings have a molecular basis, other times, things just taste great together. Taste is the senses at work inside our mouths and on our tongue. Aroma is inside our nose and what we smell. The two combine to create flavor. Flavor is the combination of Taste and Aroma, and only by Trial and Error can we find flavorings that work specifically for us. :2c::toast:

As you know, vanilla extract is very, very bitter. Are you wanting a true vanilla extract or a sweet vanilla, or somewhere in between?

The recipe i am trying to duplicate uses a true vanilla extract in the food variation of this flavor, but it also uses alot of sugar,so i think probably somewhere in between, which would help with some of the sweetness, and also help cut down on the amount of sweetener that would need to be added.Right now i have vanilla bean gelato and vanilla swirl, but i dont think either of these would cover what i need,i could be wrong though.Funny thing is,in the food variation of this, you cant taste any vanilla,so it is definitely an undertone, but i assume it's there to make one of the other flavors pop,or possibly to help cut the bitterness of the unflavored yogurt.I doubt i will get the exact flavor of what i'm trying to duplicate as the food variation is very complex, and has a very bold flavor to it,but if i can get it even close i will be very happy haha.

Well on one extreme is no vanilla, on the other extreme is Vanilla Swirl, the sweetest of the TFA vanillas. In between are Vanilla Bourbon, your Gelato, Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, French Vanilla, Vanilla Custard, and Vanilla Cupcake. Also, French Vanilla Cream, Bavarian Cream, and sweet cream. Alternatively, you also have cheesecake and Dulce de Leche. I use every one of these flavors, and get varying flavorings doing so. So, without knowing exactly what you are going for, I can't recommend anything per se. My first thought though was vanilla bean or French vanilla, and all of the vanillas will allow you to reduce sweetness, particularly vanilla swirl. Additionally, combining vanillas with the creams and sweeteners makes a great filling type flavor, that might work for you. I use a vanilla swirl, Bavarian cream, sweet cream mixture all the time and use it with both Sweetener and cotton candy. It is really good and enhances the other primary and secondary flavorings super well. Good luck!

Here's a good recipe if you like the old orange dreamcycles that we had as kids:

Orange Dreamcycle:

Cherry - 6%
Raspberry - 6%
Orange - 6%
Dulce de Leche - 2%
Cotton Candy - 5%

This is anther recipe that is spot on. I know that TFA makes and Orange Cream flavoring, but it's not nearly as flavorful as this flavoring is. I find this to be true with most of the base cream flavorings. They make excellent mixes because they are not as strong as orange extract or cinnamon, for example, so they are very useful. In the case of Cinnamon Danish, the cinnamon is muted, compared with cinnamon, but that's what makes it good to me. A little orange, or cherry, or cinnamon goes a long way, the creams, though are lighter and less intense, and make great additives. :2c:
