SO far, I'm really not digging the Hangsen Vanilla. To me, it has a buttery smell and taste to it. Not sure if it's a different batch or just me being weird... but it does. It reminds me of butter flavoring w/ an attempt at vanilla. Even smelling it straight from the bottle it smells weird to me.

Too bad these Hangsens are not working out for you. I just whipped up a cherry vanilla that is fantastic this morning.

@ 'jimi': When I add these Hangsen flavors together I still aim for both to equal roughly 3%; one drop per ml. So, for say, 30ml, I'll add 24 drops of RY-1 and 6 of RED-USA. Of course tobacco's are probably different than their fruits. Do you mix them at around 5% or is that just because you mixed two flavors together?

I also wonder how adding the drops after the nic/PG lowers the nic content. I don't seem to miss anything from my DIY's. I could of course add the drops into my calculator, but originally you told me to just add them after.

The link in my signature is to a free Excel spreadsheet I created that allows you to measure out vaping juices very exactly, or to take your averages and make adjustments to the drop-counts of each flavoring. Check it out. Download it and play with it. If it helps you, I'm glad. If not, no harm done. But it is kind of fun, as spreadsheets go. It has some cool buttons and macros that make it easy to navigate and create flavor mixes, then save them in a Word document as images of recipe cards. It's meant to be both fun and scientifically accurate. I think it succeeds, and I hope you'll agree.

Cheers!

Thanks for the calculator and all the helpful comments. Just downloaded it and I'll diffinently take a look at this.

With the tobaccos, I can mix up to 4% before the flavor starts to get bland. Fruit blends can be tricky. What I do is aim for the dominant flavor first, and slowly add drop by drop until it tastes right.

I got the same impression from the vanilla. I thought maybe it needed more steep, or a different percentage. So far it just tastes like butter. I got the mocha flavor too, and it mostly tastes/smells buttery. I thought at first that I might have made a mistake and mixed the same flavor twice. Nope, they're different... but both buttery. I tried the SC vanilla too, and just don't get vanilla from it. Not butter, but not vanilla either.

I've been very happy with Hangsen and SC tobaccos, but I think I should just stick with that. Aside from Hangsen espresso I can't think of a non tobacco flavor that has worked out for me.

So, got my new flavors and my ultrasonic cleaner last night. Yesterday did test batches, RY1 and Highway at 3%, which based on my calculator is 3 drops for 5 mls (sadly wasn't paying attention last night) but fortunately I did do my Turkish at 5% which on my calculator is 1 drop per 1ml.

RY1: Taste is great and so is the smell, but lite which is expected since I am not at the 1 drop per 1 ml. Gonna clean my dripper and later try the turkish since it is at the correct drip/percentage.

EDIT: When you see suggested percentages what do you think the average drop per ml is set? Based on others I see that 30 or so drops may be more accurate. Just wanting to check. I know I can test my own dropper and use that, but this is more for suggested percentages since that would affect the calculator. I make juice based on percentage and use syringes rather than dripping.

Mixed up the blue cola at 3% and wow it does almost taste like the real thing. Now going to add 1% cocoa and steep a bit more. For you UC steepers seems 1 hour in does it.

Also got some highway in the steeper
This is my Prime 15 clone lets see how it turns out.
3 % highway
1 % cocoa
1 % AP
1 % Methyl B

Also got some tobacco absolute mixed down to 1 drop to 10 ml PG then added at 7% to 75/25 18mg base steeping.

Also got some RY1 at 3% steeping. I'll add other stuff to it later just want to see how it taste on it's own first.

Please keep us posted. My Blue Cola is just meh. Do you put any sweetener???? I like mine sweet :)

I didn't add anything else to it when I sampled it. I just added 1% cocoa to it and it is steeping right now.
so I'll report back. To me it is sweet enough but if it's not sweet enough for you I'm sure EM or Sacarolus will do the trick.

My taste buds are kinda shot. 43 years of smoking and my age. Haven't been able to make anything that tastes right in your face good.

Get a 1ml syringe and 3% would be .15 ml per 5ml base. With a 1ml syringe you'll be able to measure that amount pretty accurately.

I'm in the same boat. I just stopped smoking 4 months ago after 45 years of smoking. Look at my highways recipe above. Or just try a little highway at 3% on its own. As an ex-smoker I think you'll enjoy that.
