 LOL....Yea; a salty ashy taste to mimic smoking. Your right they dont all have it. A lot of people like it but it is a little to much for me. There is another smokey flavor as well to mimic a fire cured tobacco. The ashy stays with me for a long time.

I will most likely end up buying all of these tobaccos that, are not menthol and are flavorings. But maybe no more until after Christmas. My 306DCA stripped out inside and will not hold an atty. Ordered an Atmistuque Grail 306 ver. and that was not cheap! Can be converted to a rebuildable if I ever do decide to give up on the 306. off topic again. I may take a break and try some of the Polish ones Jimi mentioned a while back, Inhawa (sp)?

Dude that sucks having your package go missing. I would wait a day or so because I have had those tracking number reports be way off before. Said delivered and get it a day or 3 later, or Shows just shipping and it is at my door next day. Sometimes you do have to pick it up at the post office if you are not home? I think the sender insures it also! Check with the P.O..

The Polish flavors are Inawera and here's a current thread about them.

I have Smooth, tobacco, virginian( not golden), ry3, Gold&silver, and Magic mix steeping. All at 5% and 75%vg. 3% and 4% was a tad week on the golden Virginia an it has had a good long steep. They all should be done Sunday night, a good 2 week steep. I have not tasted any yet. I need a break from Hangsen's tobacco..... My pee stinks..... vaping some plain 100%vg nic. for a while or some FA Shade. I started to read through the Inawera thread earlier.

Am I the only one that doesn't like the ashy after taste? I was hoping none of the above had it but i think at least magic mix will.

I don't want the "ashy" taste all the time. My favorite flavor is "Tab-Blended" but I need to have changes here and there so I have a "Boba's" clone I like a lot and I keep coming back to "USA-Mix", "RY1", etc. for a bit of change. I also add "RY4" to these flavors when I want a bit of "sweetness" but hardly ever (if ever) vape "RY4" by itself. I think Hangsen did a bang-up job with "RY1." Probably we all started out switching from analogs and we were looking for a "real tobacco" flavor and it's one of the flavors that comes the closest, but then we evolve to the point where we perhaps don't want a "real" cigarette flavor? I don't know...

I haven't had any side effects from hangsens but everybody is different.

I guess Ashy Larry would be the expert on this.. Lol .. but The only thing I've got ashy from so far is the red. I don't get any ashiness from desert ship. Which I like at higher percentages like 5%. It seems like the percentage is dependant on what notes you prefer from the juice and the type of flavor.

I'm interested in how that smooth comes out I was thinking about ry3 too. I would like a classic ry4 flavor but worried hs ry4, the original, may be too sweet for my taste

Norman clature, dk tab is one of my favorites too. The flavor apprentice version. Do you use TFA dk tab flavoring? Is the hs tab blended flavor in line with it? I want to do a 50/50 mix of dk tab and hs smooth. Hoping to replicate LIb flights smooth tobacco premix.

I was never sure whether the "DK Tobacco" at TFA was like "DK-Tab/Tab Blended" or some other type of tobacco so I've never tried it. Before I went d.i.y I used strictly Dekang DK-Tab and now I use "Tab Blended" from ECX. I've never tried it from any other vendor. I've tried RY4 from VZ and ECX and I swear they are different but don't know why. Either way; if you don't want something "sweet" you probably would not like it. I don't do RY4 alone but use it as an "additive." Thanks, Norman

Jeremy, I agree with you about the percentages vs ashyness. The higher percentage the less ashyness I taste as well. The lower percentages you get the full range of notes. Plus I have to use a higher VG content compared to most of you. As you go higher in flavor the notes blend into one or two.

I will do reviews of these and that is it for a while. I need to stock up on new attys. smooth and the regular tobacco is suppose to be good as well. It smelled a lot like the deluxe. I am still looking for a couple new allday vapes. I need to try some fruits again. A peachy tobacco "sounds" really good.

It is funny how your taste preferences/favorites change over time. Never tried Bobas and don't want to get hooked on something I dont make myself, I know you said clone. I am thinking this Hangsen golden Virginia might be one of my new ones; need to play with it more, a tad weak still at 4% with plenty of steep

Just wondering why everyone says it is easier to start at lower concentration and bump it up later if necessary. Wouldn't you then have to steep further after adding more? I usually mix at a higher % and add more base later if necessary. That way since the juice is already steeped, I would not need further steeping time. Just my opinion.....What say you ....?

Smoke and prunes!, sounds good but from the little I read over there it is ashy right, even without the dirty base? I will be over to read more this weekend, and ask a couple questions. If i remember glasseye is like me with the ashyness.

Nope haven't seen Danny around in while?????

@exchanger; if it is easier for you fine. But for me it is a nightmare to replicate a batch and get the percentage and nicotine strength right/documented, as .... as I am, by adding more base. Maybe I just suck at math, but even trying to work it out using a calculator and getting it straight in my head is hard for me. I seem to find that once it has steeped at a lower percentage and want to bump it up, you do not have to steep as long. To me that is, the flavor is already bonded/mixed with the molecules and it only seem to take a few more days rather than a full steep. What ever works for you, but you only need to do it once or twice until you find the percentages that seem to work. Usually they all work the same , but the individual taste that we all have comes into play. :)That say me on my mixing only:)

Cessnapix, it's very ashy. I just took a sniff and asked Jimi if he wanted it. He wrote a darn good review for it too. You're right, I don't like ashy. Just ordered some more Golden VI, it's more my speed.
Have you tried the Flue Cure? I did order some of that as well.

I do think there is something to 'seed steeping', as it's called, making the process faster. Adding more flavoring isn't quite the same as adding a new mix to old but I think it's in the same ballpark.

That's a novel idea, but not very practical for me. I have been forced to do that but I don't have much room to play with. I thought I liked RY1 at 5% and had done enough testing so I created a 100ml mix with 50/50 VG/PG and nicotine. I use 4oz amber bottles (Boston Round) so I only have 18.294ml of empty space in the bottle when I'm done making 100ml (assuming my mixing was absolutely accurate, which I'm sure it never is) so I did add as much VG/nicotine as I could to make up the difference to try and cut the flavor % but I'm sure I ran out of room before I knocked it down to 3%, which is where I prefer it now.

Plus I "seed steep" the mixes I continuously create and like to leave approx. 10ml of "steeped" in the 4oz bottles; so that only leaves roughly 8ml of space.

Thanks,

Norman
