Just totally speechless on this end!
Switcher rightfully and as always beautifully said my good man.
Today was a heck of a day, I was at the shop from morning till sundown trying to master a locking mechanism for our beloved mystery x. Trial and error all the way. There was one moment where we had it BUT and there's a nasty one in the way, it wasn't all that convenient. What we did, is drill a hole through the brass stem actuator (which is now replaced with silver aluminum) then placed a steel rod through the newly drilled hole. We then cut out a groove all the way through the bottom base of the actuator's housing for the rod to slide into, therefore creating activation. The problem was the inconvenience. Everytime you use it, you have to check the switch to make sure that it's lined up. While this method gave a visual boost to the exterior (the groove on the button housing is especially appealing), it's still not perfect. We then thought of some sort of stopper to put in place, but left the idea undecided.
I thought of actually cutting the brass contact point inside of the unit like a pattern then cutting the threaded washer that secures the spring into the same pattern, but again the same problem as the previous lies. Before progressing we thought it best to officially call it day.
