Dad went to bed at 7:30 and I told him I had to go to the $Store. I was so excited to be going off all by myself. I was gone for a whole hour and 15 minutes but he has the nerve to get upset with me. I know he worries about me but I get so tired of it. I also went in the grocery store to get a can of biscuits so I could fix them for his breakfast. Sheesh!

This is the first time I have been in the Dollar Store since they went up to $1.25 and something much higher. It sort of took the joy out of going in there. I liked not having to look at price tags.

I had to get a sympathy card. A friend lost her sister. She was diagnosed with dementia but it was a very severe case. She was only in her 50's. So sad.

Good morning lurkers

McDonald’s. :oops::facepalm:

We eat far too much takeout which is costly, not healthy and our waistbands are are getting bigger. :glare: Every Friday night during dinner, I meal plan with the boys. I have a small notebook with pages filled of previous weeks meals. Then I come home from work and don’t feel like cooking said meals. Unless there are leftovers in the fridge, I feel guilty making kiddo responsible for dinner because that’s not how it should be. So pizza, subs, burgers it is. That way everyone is eating dinner together.

I need to come up with quick and moderately healthy summer meals. Not a fan of crockpots on when no one is home but now that kiddo is for the summer, I probably should take advantage.

Happy faux Friday  Work til 2 today and then 4 glorious days off!! Guess I was so excited I woke up at 3:30.

    Good morning Sara
Here I was thinking it was something crazy like popcorn or icees
Yes eating out gets expensive but most of us do it  Nothing wrong with having kiddo fix dinner if he’s capable ... unless he really hates it and you’re afraid he’ll poison you

4 days off?! What’s the occasion?
Hope today is easy on you :)

Sara, there is not a thing wrong with McDonald's or anything else unhealthy as long as it is not six nights a week. I try to fix healthy meals for dad and the easiest thing for me to do is have already cooked meats in the freezer that I can quickly add sides to. Everything I cook, I cook with surplus just for that reason. Things like garlic chicken, hamburger, meatloaf, kielbasa, country-style steak, etc. That's why I never know what I am going to have for supper until I get in the kitchen. I like being surprised. heehee

If you think about it, when you have a family, you work two full-time jobs with overtime. If the child is responsible enough to help, I think letting them is more for their benefit than it is yours. That is just good parenting IMO.

Guess what I am trying to say is. . . be proud of the great job that you are doing.

Ewww. Sardines. There is only one family member that eats those……Lucy (our english bulldog)

I had scheduled tomorrow and fri to spend some time with kiddo. I was thinking today was his last day of school and it would have been except for 8th grade does exams like high school exams. Who would’ve thunk it? Lol I have a dr appt in a little while so leaving early the day ahead of the long weekend was a fluke.

hahaha, we almost did ice cream for dinner the other day :w00t:

Absolutely!! Unfortunately there are weeks we eat out more than once for various reasons ;) I do have some things in the freezer made up. Then you say well we can do baked ziti or takeout pizza. Everyone opts for the takeout

And I wholeheartedly agree about kiddo helping. Lol. I was thinking him getting his own dinner (cereal, sandwich etc) and me watching him eat because I wasn’t feeling it.

Seems these days everything is unhealthy in one way or another. Moderation is key!

I just found out a year ago that you can freeze spaghetti noodles. I found some in my aunt's freezer and asked her about them. I have not done it personally yet but I have thought about making some single-serving spaghetti dinners to freeze. It would be an easy quick meal and dad could probably microwave it himself if I was to ever actually get a life and do something. heehee

Mom and I have eaten ice cream for supper before :D
Ummmmm. Nothing wrong with that either. What is your favorite favor? I like coffee flavored with chocolate syrup on it. YUM!

Turkey Hill makes a lemon pound cake ice cream. It does not sound that good but it really is. I love all of their ice creams. I actually think it is better than Bryers and a lot less expensive too.

I am glad Sara eats McDonald's because I really like talking about food. heehee

Darn. I was going to try to curb my shopping but my eyebrow trimmer just bit the dust. I will have to shop for a new one. I don't care if my legs look like Arnold but my eyebrows are not going to look like Andy Rooney. Oh, I really liked him. He was so funny. But he had some bushy brows! heehee

I hope I am not the only one who knows who he was. I am trying to think of a modern-day person with full brows but I can't think of anyone.

Oh well, howdy-doo Amazon, my friend. heehee

Ahhhhh my mini staycation has officially begun!

Ice cream for dinner sounds like a fun time. Depending on what you get, you could hit most of the food groups :D
I have 2 favorites. Perry’s peanut butter fudge or Wegman’s S’mores. At the ice cream stand I always opt for custard (easier to control the melty drips)

    Chinese for the win!!
It was here. Frozen General Tso that I get at Aldi's. Had ready-made fried rice by Uncle Ben's (I won't call it Ben's because I don't like people changing their names for no good reason), green peas and applesauce. I ate too much but thought it was good.

Walked another hour after supper. It was 91 degrees and not too pleasant but the book was good. heehee
