Lasagna is to much for me to make, I make baked ziti instead. Tonight I’m going to make a meatloaf if I can get my daughter up. She stayed up all night so I doubt she’ll wake up anytime soon
Kids! What is it about staying up all night is so appealing?

Hi Dale, Sarah, Rat2, Joey

Kids! What is it about staying up all night is so appealing?

We all did it when we younger! Remember?

I think after our parents stopped telling us "it's bedtime" we had the freedom to stay up later and... do what?... fart around. Late night TV with only a few channels. Sneaking cigs. Listening to our records or the radio with our headphones. Sneaking out of the house to "party" with friends in the yard, or somewhere else in the neighborhood. Grab one, or two, of Dad's beers! Talking on the "our" version of the smartphone 60s style...

Kids these days have their own computers, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, game consoles. They're late night surfin' the web, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, texting and playing video games.
And who knows what else???

    Hahahah omgosh, SMT!! So true!

Not for this kiddo though! His phone shuts off at 8pm during school nights and 9:30 on weekends. Same with the internet, although once I’m asleep he might sneak into the spare room where his playstation is. But I wake up 99% of the time when the motion night light in the hall turns on so I’m going to go with no. Unless he’s learned some ninja moves, he’s stuck with his tv when I go to bed.

And I was THAT kid who never stepped out of line
You and me both. I always did what I was told to do whether I agreed or not. I figured they knew better than me. It definitely influences your life. Some good and sadly, some bad.

Oh I was afraid of my parents. Their influence was mostly bad.

I think that is wonderful. That sounds like some of my rules. Of course, I did not feel like the kids needed cell phones until they got their driver's license and might need it. They did not like it very much but nothing they could do about it.

I have only spent a couple of days at home since dad passed. I did today and surprised myself at how much I accomplished.

I climbed onto that lawnmower for the second time and spent all afternoon mulching leaves. I am going to have to go over the backyard again but the front is presentable and that was my main goal.

It did not take long for me to regret telling Terry, "Thank you but I can do it" when he said he would come over and do it for me.

I feel good about being able to do it but this yard is more than I really want to take care of.

The 60-inch zero-turn is sort of fun to drive but I do not really need it. I am not fond of going backward so I rarely go in reverse. It might also have something to do with I have to stop just to get my tooter out and take a toot. Would have been nice if it had foot pedals to steer instead of having to use both hands. If I did not have 2 1/2 acres to mow, I would go back to a John Deere with a steering wheel. Now that was relaxing. Or I think goats are cute. heehee

    Good morning lurkers

We got him the cell phone when he turned 13, more so so that we could reach him. In the beginning he had to hand it over each night but some nights were a struggle ending in arguments so I learned how to shut it down from my phone. Now I don’t have to worry lol.

It was rainy today so it is probably a good thing I mulched leaves yesterday. Woke up early and went ahead and fixed my coffee.

I made myself go to the gym and ended up having an excellent workout. I really think I would have felt worse if I had just stayed home. I still do not feel good but it is more manageable it seems.

I was cold and wanted something warm tonight to go along with my salad so I took out a little frozen Stouffer's Salisbury Steak and Mac&Cheese. I had gotten it for dad and needed to use stuff up. I do like Stouffer's. It was not bad at all.

Went to Walmart today and guess who I saw on the vitamin aisle? Jay. Remember him? I skedaddled out of there. I am by no means bitter over him (I really hope he is healthy and happy) but I do not have anything to say to him. It would not have been awkward because I would have been nice to him. I imagine it would have been awkward for him though so it is best I just left.

Since I have not been sleeping well, I took a very short nap this afternoon. I was trying to get warm and dozed off. Now it is only 6 o'clock and I am yawning and tired but I can't go to bed this early. Well, I guess I could but I'd be back up by 10. I will try to watch a little tv. I started a new series. It is not scary but it is quite eerie.

I did not hear from Terry last night but if I had to guess, I think he will call tonight to see if I want to go to the church to eat tomorrow night. He knows that I am going to say yes but I think it is wonderful that he asks (like he should IMO).

Hope everyone has a nice evening.
