Good evening lurkers

Hope you get that rain soon, Lori. Do you miss the colder weather?

I sure hope you aren’t coming down with something, Dale

Dh had a meeting, so we had hot dogs and I roasted a head of cauliflower that we needed to use. Lol! You know me, the Queen of odd dinner combinations

Hope everyone had a good one!!

We just had a bad storm in the area with hail and everything. Temperature dropped 10 degrees.

I don’t think I’m sick but there could be something going on

We had bbq ribs, baked potatoes and green beans.

    Good morning lurkers

I don’t like the sound of that, Dale.
    Good morning Sara

Well I’m okay, woke up mid morning for a bathroom run and got up at 5-ish so back to something more normal ;)

Heard from dad yesterday and he’s been in the hospital again . Planning to see him this Saturday if he’s up to it.

Good morning Sara and Lori
    I’m sleeping a lot it seems .

71 currently with a thunderstorm warning for the area, I think it must have passed through while I was sleeping

Are you working these days Lori and if so what are you doing?
    Good morning,
No rain, I saw 94 yesterday, heat index was triple digits.

That's good that you were able to supplement for Christmas gifts.

Yes, I'm working in the office for a coastal construction company. Great hours. M-F 9-3

    Definitely a weird combo. LoL
No, I don't miss the colder weather at all.
    "Winter" is absolutely beautiful here.
We had cool weather around Christmas.
I think it got down around 40, but only lasted a few hours and then it was up around 50... but that's cold here.
It feels really cold. Somehow different, and colder than the same temperature up N.
I'm cold if it goes below 70 now.

Dale, do you have sleep apnea?

Hope everyone has a great day!

    Good morning Lori
Oh good, 9-3 isn’t terrible ;) What’s your husband into?

As for sleep apnea, I’ve wondered but don’t know. I do know when I have strep throat I sleep a lot.

Sounds like you’ve adjusted quite well and quickly to life as a Floridian, will we have to start calling you q-tip soon?

    Agree, the hours are awesome!!
Well, he's into fishing! JK!! When we moved here, the plan was that he was going to take off the first year, or so, and do stuff to the place we bought. Paint...throughout, some outside projects, minor stuff, go fishing, and relax some. Plus, cook and do stuff around the house for me.
He'd tease that he worked the first 30 years of our marriage as the "breadwinner", now it was my turn.
Which was fine with me. He totally deserves the time. (He had residual income from commissions coming when we left IL. ;)) He had literally just finished his last home project here when Ian hit.
Our home flooded 6-10 inches, so we made the decision to rehab it instead of replace it.
Our structure was good, we had plywood floors under the flooring, (some had particle board, it was game over for those homes) So he pulled flooring, cut walls, pulled insulation, did the mold remediation steps, etc. Then put everything back in. Insulation, walls, flooring, etc.
Our neighbors across the street decided not to return and sold their place to us for a very good price, so when he was done with our place, he started over there.
It's been a good thing that he didn't have a job, or we couldn't have done all this.
Down the road, we'll use it as a guest place, or rental, or sell it. Haven't decided.
He's still working over there. Just had, and passed final county inspection yesterday for the inside work. Now he's starting on the outside stuff.
The structure over there was pretty good after Ian. Plywood floors under flooring, very minor roof damage, so redoing that place was similar to ours. The lanai is gone over there though, so that will be put back in at some point.

Wow! So he has a full time non-paying job

My guess might be sleep apnea. The folks here talk a lot about that...and age.
Sleep habits change a lot as you age.
But, if you think it could be something medical, get it checked out.
Eh you know me, no insurance no major medical inspections ;)

    Good evening lurkers

Wow!!! I loved your post, Lori, not because of the hurricane/damage or friends that relocated but that your husband was able to do all that work and fix everything up. Good skills to have, that’s for sure.

Hate to hear that, Dale. But I’m glad last night was a bit better.

Yes, so grateful he can do all that. :nun:

Another hot day here, but that's how it goes this time of year.

Hope everyone has a good evening,

    Good morning all.
I have been away for a week but was wonderful to see you post again Lori and welcome home. Seems like old times. Hope you remember me.
    1laugh.gif
heehee For some reason, most do. I have thought about you several times and 100% of the time when I saw a picture of a wiener dog.

I had another wonderful adventure. Still hard to believe I am getting out on the highway and doing things that are fun. I like it. A lot!

The night before my trip, I am very scared and nervous. Fifty-eleven things are on my mind. It is weird but as soon as I get in the car and turn on my GPS, I am just as calm as can be. Maybe it is the incentive of seeing Daniel but I really think it is just having the freedom to finally do something I want to do. It is awesome.

The old place we stayed (Punderson Manor in Newbury, OH) was beautiful. Would have been exciting to have seen something strange other than me.
    1laugh.gif
Did not see one single ghost. Darn. The only room available, because of a big wedding party, was a handicapped room. There was no way that room had a handicapped shower. I was expecting a huge shower but it was barely big enough for me. I did like the little pull-down seat though.

I had never been to a drag race. It was not as exciting as I had expected but still had a wonderful day. Daniel's trucking company was the owner of the racetrack so I met several of his friends and you know me. . . I talked to everyone. It is so nice to go places with someone that is like me. (well, sort of like me, I take it to another level
    1laugh.gif
    )

I must say the little kid's racing was just the cutest. The 7-year-olds had little miniature bikes that looked just like the big ones. They were going 57 miles an hour and you could see the excitement in their little faces.

The bikes that used that stuff to make them go really fast were interesting and loud. I cannot imagine going from 0 to 208 miles an hour in such a short time. It must be a real rush to them. Of course, I felt the same way on the highway. heehee

I did so many "1st time" things with Dan. It was wonderful. Everything was exciting to me. Even going through my first toll booths was fun. I went through 3 on the way there but Dan changed my route coming back and I didn't have to go through a single one. That was fine with me because they were $4.25 each. heehee Dan got to stay another night because he did not have a load to pick up so we spend the last night in his truck. He has a nice big truck and I was very comfortable. I was glad the bathroom was close.
    1YES.gif

Seeing my first great lake (Erie) was spectacular. We spent all day on the motorcycle stopping at different places. He would stop just to buy me a homemade root beer. We took short walks because Dan is slow but even that was special. Just think, I have 4 more to look forward to. I'd like to see them all.

I have not been on the back of a motorcycle for 37 years. I was pregnant with my daughter the last time I rode. This time was much more exciting. heehee In Ohio, they do not have a helmet law so that was my first time riding completely free and I loved it. I realize it is more dangerous to ride without one but the feeling of wind on your face was the most free I have ever felt. He has been riding since he was 7 and was an exceptional driver. I felt completely safe and protected. I was pleasantly surprised that I did not get sore or anything. We did get caught in the rain for just a little way but it was not hard enough to hurt thank goodness. He tried to get me back to the hotel before but started but even that was fun.

You would not believe the fantastic food I ate. Dan talked me into eating breakfast every morning which was strange for me but wonderful. I was scared to get on the scales this morning but I only gained 3 pounds. That's nuttin'. He says I need to put on 10 lbs. He's wrong of course.

One of the best parts of my trip was surprising my friend Liz in West Virginia. I knocked on her door and she hollered, "Who is it?". I knocked again and she said it again a little more gruff sounding. As soon as I said "Open the damn door!", she knew exactly who it was. I got her good. It has been 12 years since we saw each other in person. I ended up staying two nights with her and would have stayed longer but I ran out of my medication. I'll take more next time.

I will think of more things to share with you. You had to be expecting a large post from me. Thanks for letting me share.

Here is the first selfie we have taken of us together out of all the times we have met. Just so you know what happy looks like on me. . . I can't believe I am posting a pic of me. That is definitely a new side of me. Remember he is 5 years younger but I don't think I look like I'm robbing the cradle. Not that it really matters to me. heehee
