I bet! That would be very scary.

Kids go up and down the road here in golf carts, atv's, dirt bikes and snowmobiles. It's very loud out here in the country. ;)

I put no trespassing signs on my shopping list last night to put up this spring and I will definitely get stakes up next fall by the septic. They did it last night while we weren't home. Good thing our propane tank is on the side of the house. That's buried too.

I think whoever it is, was not happy we bought the land, because of the close proximity to the marked trails (just down the road) I know the bare pavement ruins the machine and I have no problems with them using the edge of the property but last night was a little too close for comfort. Had I known about the trails we would have looked for a different piece of property. :(
Yes, I know. Grew up in the country, and our place at the lake is pretty much "the country"...with a subdivision around it.
...barbed wire fencing, along the cut through area would be cheap enough. :2c: That'd deter them FOR SURE.
The kids can actually drive electric golf carts here where we live...legally. They have to be 13 or 14, and have a sticker from the village. They can even drive them on the sidewalk through the park!
...small village here, only a few stop signs around town. I don't think they're allowed on the highway, or allowed to cross it either.

GET OFF MY LAWN!!!
Yep.
A lot of people just have no respect for other's property.

Hopefully the signs and contacting the club will help. But maybe just marking off the septic would do me some good. I can imagine having to fix that would be costly. :)
Yes well, you may have to put up some warning sign's or something  Or "High Explosives"

Yeah these kids don't wear helmets either. :( and the speed limit is 55 on our road.

Last summer the neighbor kid was doing wheelies with his atv, in his own yard with no helmet. That totally gave me anxiety.
It did me too when the kids would do it.
I don't (honestly) know how much a helmet truly helps...minor crashes, sure...anything major, with a neck injury...not sure.

I grew up Lutheran too. :)

One of a shotgun that reads...Snowmobiles = Target Practice. Enter at your own risk.

We rode the edges, the road side edge of the ditches, which on most any county in IL is considered the county road's easement. We also only rode when there was enough snow that it wouldn't damage anyone's grass.

They mostly rode in Wisconsin though. We rarely *ever* get enough snow to ride more than an afternoon or evening here, it's rarely a big enough snowfall, or the snow isn't the right consistency...wet, gloppy snow doesn't make for good riding.

Barbed wire with those narrow, tie on reflective flags would definitely put an end to it.
Just a shame you'd have to go to that extreme to keep people out of your yard.

I thought about a fence. similar to a horse farm, but that would be costly too. Our property is a trapezoid. Really wide.

Yeah, I have no idea what it would cost. I'm sure not cheap, nothing is. :(

And it wouldn't bother me as much if they stayed near the ditch. Guess I will forget about filling the ditches in
You'd have to check with the Corps of Engineers, at least you do in our area, anywhere in IL.
You can't disrupt the water drainage...you might end up with a lake in your yard.
Besides, dirts not cheap either.

Exactly, having to do expensive things due to neighbors :(

Our next door neighbor started talking about the property line ... DH told her how much we were quoted for someone to come out and do that and that if she wanted to pony up half we'd be happy to have it done. She had nothing else to say

Bwahahaha. Too funny.

On that note, I'm off. Have to be up early tomorrow. No sleeping in for the weary ;)

Sweet dreams everyone
Good night Sara
Sweet dreams Sara.
It's about half past tub time here, so I'm going to sign off too. ;)
Good night to you also Lori

May as well shut down, nearly every one I know is gone already ;)

Yep. Nothing cheap about that either.
There was a property line dispute when we bought the place at the lake.
We had to have it surveyed, we had to pay for it, they basically surveyed from the highway, all the way to the lake, which was I think, over a mile...we had to buy a teeny, tiny SLIVER, so satisfy the dispute...had to buy that FIRST, separate CLOSING at the bank, then we had the closing with the people for the house.
