I think part of why she said what she said, was her faith, and part of it was what, basically the whole town had witnessed by a grieving widow.
There was a woman who had married a much older man in town. They'd been married maybe 15 years or so, and he passed away. That poor woman was at his grave every single day, from dawn to dusk. Nearly any kind of weather.
She had a park bench put by his grave, and you'd see her sitting there wrapped in a blanket, or reading a book, eating her lunch, etc.
She'd had much opportunity for grief support, and those who spoke with her said she was doing okay, she just wanted to be near him.
It was really sad to see. It went on for a couple or three years, then I guess she got past that, and got on with her life.
That was when my mom really started in on not going to her grave when she passed.
