Oh, and I miss Rita fiercely. I feel so lost without my little shadow. :(

Also, this hospital thinks vaping is poison.
It's also a tobacco free facility, including electronic cigarettes.
I vaped here and there in the bathroom, I exhaled into my gown, but not much at all.
They offered a nic patch, I declined.
I figured at the very least, if necessary, I could put a tiny drop on my tongue and drink a lot of water...but I didn't have to resort to that.

They did say that there was an incident where a CNA had plugged in their device to their computer to charge...at the nurses station, and...yep...it exploded.
...awkward....
Killed a computer, and started a small fire.
I think the employee was immediately dismissed...rightly so.
I mean seriously, that's a special sort of dumb to do that.
Tobacco free facility, no e-cigs allowed, etc.

I took my ProVari, no charger, extra batteries in a case, and I shut it off when not in use.
I figure in that configuration, it's no more of a threat than a cell phone, tablet, or laptop.
I'm also sure that the IV pumps that run on battery back up are surely powered by the same batteries that we use, but of course, *they* haven't quite figured that out.

I didn't even ask if I could vape. I just did it on the sly. I had the bed farthest from the door and pulled the curtain to the end of the bed. Kept my purse right next to me the whole time.

I really didn't need to vape that much honestly. One battery in a full size ProVari and one kayfun tank lasted the whole 3 days.

I even vaped pre-op for all my procedures. Pre-op in the hospital I go to, there are individual rooms.

I have stealth vaping down to an art. :sneaky:

Good morning lovely lurkers.

It's my last day of work this week...I took tomorrow off to spend with my family...although I might wish to be back at work after a while with my brother. :p:lol:

Hope everyone has a great day! :)

morning all

No, they sure aren't. I was on the surgical floor the whole time, and directly across from the nurses station, which is a busy spot.

Doing okay so far, they did it laparoscopically, so I don't have a huge incision.
Any pain or discomfort has been what's generally to be expected and typical.

They did that, every hour at first for many hours, then it changed to 4 hours, but if it wasn't them, it was someone else coming in. Respiratory, Social Services, housekeeping, changing IV bags, etc., etc., etc.
All the typical hospital surgery stuff.
Plus, I had several family members come to visit, which was nice, and comforting, but yeah, a steady stream of people in and out.

I'd taken an overnight bag on Monday in case I was admitted, and thankfully I'd grabbed my new silicone ear plugs. The nurses said that was a really good idea, and perfectly fine to use.
I just asked them to be sure to get me up if there was a fire alarm.
They were great to muffle all the noise, especially the IV pump alarms that go off when the bags empty.

I did. Was up right away, as soon as it was save...walking, walking, walking...slowly for sure.
The nurses told me that I was doing really well with walking and getting myself in and out of bed, to the bathroom and all that.

The people in recovery made me choose a pain med for directly after the surgery. I asked for something non-narcotic, they said absolutely not. That I was to have something, even if it was just a very small dose.
I asked for the lowest dose to start with because I could surely get more if needed.
They gave me a very low dose perkoset ?? (spelling), which they said was a small amount of the OxyC, with acetaminophen.
I didn't take anything else after that.
When I'd ask at the nurses station late yesterday morning if I could have a Tylenol, one of the nurses laughed out loud, she said that you *never* hear of anyone asking for Tylenol anymore. I guess it's more that people see it as an opportunity to get a bunch of pain meds. Sad.
If someone needs it, fine, but the nurses talked like no one starts on the low end anymore, they patients seem to want stronger meds right away.
They also said that they used to be able to give it without a Dr. order, but now they can't even give that.

I took 2 Tylenol last night before bed.

That's awesome that you were able to get along with out anything!!
I know it helped because I was able to drive home yesterday, because I hadn't had anything.
DH followed me. :)

Rita is still at the sitter. I can't lift over 10 pounds for a few more days.
They'd keep her forever, and they weren't ready to send her home, so we're going to leave her there for a couple days.

Sounded wonderful!!

Thanks, glad to be home too. :nun:
That sounds like a really cool summer, well...non-summer. :(

Thanks, I sure am too. :)

Lol's.

Thanks Angel!! Me too!!
Enjoy your family!!!

...sufficient??

Good morning Fran.

Good morning Dale.

Good morning, Dale, Sara, Joey, KC, Fran, Angel, Lori and any other Lurkers[emoji4].
Lori, so glad you seem to be doing alright now.

Someone turned the fire up around here. Back to the sweltering heat through this weekend and looks like all next week, too. I'm ready for a season change.

Good morning Paul.
Sorry for your temps again. Fall will be here before we know it.

I didn't ask either, they asked if I was a smoker and needed a nic patch.
I said I switched to e-cigs almost 5 years ago, and that no, I didn't want a patch, that I'd be fine, that I was pretty much weaned off it anyway.
Of course, then I got the verbal on their tobacco policy, and how e-cigs were poison.
I swear, she must have been an antz card carrying member.
It was before my surgery, and I was in a bit of pain, so I just let her drone on, I didn't try to interject any of the facts, I'm sure it would have fallen on deaf ears.
The Nay-Sayers are a pretty "dug in" group.

I should've just said that I hadn't had a cigarette in nearly 5 years, and no thank you on the patch...it would've still been a factually true response. ;)

I was alone in the room. It's just a local hospital, but all the rooms are private, just one person to a room. :nun:
So I didn't have to share with anyone. I only vaped in the bathroom, with the door shut, so I wasn't too concerned.
I just didn't want it to get confiscated.

I didn't vape much either. I started Monday when I left with a fresh KFL+ tank, and fresh battery, just put on a fresh tank last night, and fresh battery this a.m. (larger battery, not mini mode)

Good morning everyone :)
Hiya Joey. :)

What's up everybody? Just about to snap on the sandwich delivery guy. Taking a bloody hour to get me a sandwich and I'm right next door!! Wish I could leave work for a minute :/
Oh that stinks. :(
Pizza Hut is usually an hour too.

Good morning Lurkers :)

Yup that was a good one :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:
Good morning OBG.
Lol's. :lol::lol::lol:

Lori are you going to be all healed up in time for your vacation ?
:nun: I'm going to ask Monday at my follow up appt., I would think so barring any complications.
It's not until the end of Sept., 6 weeks from this Sunday until our flight.
I didn't think to ask the surgeon yesterday. I see him on Monday.
Going to go back to work Tues., per DH. ;)

...I didn't tell y'all this, but...he was out of town Monday and most of Tues.
He had the annual (work) golf trip to The Ozarks with customers and the boss, they were leaving Monday a.m.
I didn't think it was going to end up being anything serious, certainly not what it turned out to be.
They were due back on Wed. late afternoon anyway, so as slow at it normally is with diagnosis for gastric stuff, I figured even two weeks from now I'd be getting scoped and prodded.
Never even a thought that I'd wind up in surgery. Lol's.

He'd have *never* in a million years left me, and I'd have not let him if we thought otherwise.
He left early and was back Tues night. :)
