Good morning Dale and lurkers

Hope the different shoes helped you last night, Joey. I used ziplock bags for the corn and froze it. We didn’t have the vacuum sealer yet. Blanched it on the cob for less than 5 min, forget the exact time and then put the cobs into an ice bath. Scraped the kernels into a bowl, loaded the bags with the amount we would eat per meal, squeezed as much air out and into the freezer. It took a couple hours but totally worth it.

I’m not sure I would use the vacuum sealer next year, I think it would squish the corn. Unless you spread it out on a cookie sheet and and freeze it first but I could see that being a total pain. We did use the vacuum sealer with the carrots and potatoes though. Since they have a firmer texture prior to freezing.
    Good morning Sara
Does your vacuum sealer not have a seal only feature? Mine does plus you can start a vacuum and switch to seal anytime you want :?:

It used to vacuum and automatically switch to seal but that stopped working and DH can’t find the receipt. I have done it manually with rolls and bagels but there is still some air left when I switch to seal.

    Oh, I’m sorry:(
They don’t seem to last long but the ones I’ve bought have been fairly cheap.

    Good morning Shad

Yes, it’s too dang cold outside.....says the girl who waited til the last minute to vacuum out her truck and wipe it down before I turn it in  Omgosh. Lol.

That’s ok, Dale. It works well enough for now. We got a canister from eBay to use to seal jars. I can seal up mason jars or spaghetti sauce jars with pop lids. Put my beans in there in case any furry little friends find their way in this winter. :thumb:

The sneakers helped a little, the big toe on my right foot is the one causing all the pain. The fungus was really bad on that one, the other 3 toes are healing good it is just that one toe damn it!!!

Sara I am going to try doing the corn and other veggies if I see any in the store again. If not then I will next summer with fresh crops. I think after the cooling process instead of freezing on a cookie sheet maybe freeze it in a gallon baggie then break it apart with your hands to seal them. Might work better that way I do that with the peppers I cut up and put of the freezer they break apart easy enough and they don't break :)

    Hi Joey
Can’t you get some kind of tubular cover for that toe? Pretty sure they make stuff like that to prevent pressure on your toes.

I take it y’all don’t like corn on the cob  Easiest way to freeze it;)

    Good afternoon lurkers

Do you get your new vehicle today?
Yeppers! We opted for a mid size suv instead of another truck. Need the extra indoor cargo area for soccer gear.

That is an awesome idea, Joey. I will try to remember for next year. I hope in a day or two that aggravated toe starts to feel better.

Dale, corn on the cob is one of my favorites. Freezer space is definitely our issue. We froze 5 dozen ears worth. If you do it on the cob, do you still blanch?

Depends I guess on how much you’re talking about.

    Good deal :thumb:

I don’t but you do have to figure that in on your cook time. Some people put them up in the husk but they must have a deep freeze dedicated to it

    Good morning Sara
Ugggg, feeling sorry for you :(
    Good morning Dale

It wouldn’t irritate me if it was training pertaining to my job. It’s sexual harassment training. Supervisor says it will only be my dept. I’m concerned it will be many employees from many different depts which is silly during a pandemic. We had 158 new cases of covid over the weekend. I know it could be worse, but we are getting closer to being an orange zone and with that come more restrictions. School is my number one concern right now.

Hope you have a good day. :)
